"I know, right? I'm just full of surprises," Tatum replied quietly, grinning gently. Once they were on the dancefloor, blending into the crowd more, Tatum actually felt a lot better. She doubted anyone would be staring them out in a crowd this size. It was almost more relaxing, like some absurd form of social camouflage.
She still never knew where her arms were meant to go, who would lead, but winging it was usually a good answer. It had worked every other time they danced. She wrapped her arms loosely around the brunette's waist, scooting a little closer, totally oblivious to anything Frankie was thinking. So far as Tatum was concerned, dancing was the normal thing to be doing, even if it was a touch embarrassing.
"I might have asked, but I'm still not good at it. I apologize to your feet in advance," she joked, smiling a little.

Tatum glanced down briefly, a playful look of surprise on her face. "Holy fuck, yeah. If you could avoid stepping on me in those, it'd be much appreciated," she agreed, laughing herself.
She was content that the dancing was going well. She wasn't paying attention to the song, just focusing on her steps, and on keeping her arms from shaking. She always got shaky when she got nervous, and she always gone nervous when she over-thought things. It was like an endless cycle.
"So, I was going to ask you in an email, but since I'm on a roll tonight with being less socially retarded, like.. I was thinking, maybe do you think maybe you wanna come over for a bit over Christmas? Like, if you're.. not busy and stuff. I mean. You don't have to. Just if you want.

"Fuck that," Tatum replied quickly, shaking her head. "The only thing baked will be us," she assured her girlfriend, tightening the grip around her waist a little. "Like I said, we're not really into that kind of stuff at my place.. they'll be home for actual Christmas day, but other than that, I'm basically running solo. You might see Sera once or twice, but other than that, smooth sailing."
Not that she liked to avoid her family on an active basis, but when she had Frankie over, it was a little different. The last thing she wanted was her brother asking awkward questions, or her step-mother trying to chat her up for hours at a time.
