Mari breathed a sigh of relief and then started giggling. She punched his in the arm playfully. "Douchebag" she pouted, though she was trying not to smile. She couldn't help smiling though when she recalled Christmas day.

"It was the greatest! Our pup ate a bunch of Christmas chocolate and puked on my little bro's pillow." She sighed happily and leant her head against his arm. "He's the greatest dog ever."

Jake snorted, when Mari called him a 'douchebag', and rubbed his arm, "Help! Somebody! I'm being manhandled over here!", he called out. A few people yelled over, teasingly calling him a 'wuss' and even unkinder words, him being a full 8 inches taller than the girl he was accusing of working him over.

Laughing, Jake scrunched his face, "That's so nasty! I love it! Bet your brother's room smells manky for weeks!"

Looking side to side, Jakob took a sip of his beer and leaned in, until he was talking to Mari, very closely, "So, not to put any pressure on you or anything, but, have you lined up your Midnight Kiss yet?", he asked.

A smile spread across Mari's face as she sighed, looking at her watch. "You know me babe, I've got hundreds of kisses lined up" she lied. "I'm in very high demand."

"Ohhh, I see...", Jake sighed dramatically, "...well, I can certainly see why you'd be the apple of so many eyes." He made a popping noise with his full lips, "Guess I'll have to haul these 50 pound lips somewhere else and look for an angel of charity who won't mind kissing me...", he gave her his best puppy dog eyes.

Jake had thought Mari was just teasing him, but it seemed she wasn’t. Apparently, she came by just to mess with him. Ugh…first Lisette and then Mari…this was not his night.

Looking for a friendly face, his eyes settled across the room on Giselle; they had been an item when she had broken up with that guy from Sonnier. With a grin and his spirit rising, he winked at Mari and said, “Cheers, Mari! Happy New Years!”, and headed towards the sexy blonde he knew so well. He was so thankful they had remained good friends.
