"Yes, I saw. And you were fantastic," he answered with a grin. He had seen and it was indeed fantastic. Keegan himself couldn't have tumbled over better. He let go of her hand only when she moved to lean against the counter; there was no point in letting her fall over again.
Though, by the end of night, she probably would.
"Good. As long as you make them even more epic than a five dollar hand walk."
His eyes went momentarily to the counter that she patted, and he almost sighed. Even in his imagination, Mari doing a backflip off the counter didn't end well. Not that he wouldn't do something very similar if he was drunk enough. "Make sure someone is filming that when you do."
"Yea, Christmas was alright. The fun happened on Yule really. Christmas was dinner with the big family. Loot was good." Keegan nodded a little too much. The upside of that holiday was the stuff he got. "How was yours?"
"What a beautiful invention the camera phone is" Mari joked. She was pleased Keegan had a good break, a good break made for a good start to the new term. "Ugh, spending that much time with my little brother is not cool, I'll be happy tobe back at school. Except for the lessons." Her smile falted and she looked vaguely crestfallen.
"I think I still have dention when I get back. At least three Saturdays worth!"
Keegan nodded. "Always except for the lessons. But being at school has it's upsides regardless." Like seeing friends, getting to be away from home for a while. He certainly didn't forget being back in the warmer weather. Winter in New England was just awful.
He finally remembered what he had come in there for: to steal more booze. He'd already run through what he brought along. "Detention? What did you do, Mari?" Keegan held up a finger, "Wait, no. Scratch that. What did you get caught doing?"
Mari feigned offendedness that Keegan would assume she was guilty for whatever crime she had committed, but really she wasn't quite sure. "Oh I don't know, I've lost count." She pouted and crossed her arms, sloshing some drink on the floor and discreetly rubbing the puddle with her foot.
"Speaking of dentention, have you got any plans on how we can get some more after break?"
Somehow, he was unsurprised that she didn't remember what it was. Or which one it was. It reminded him of the fact that he hadn't done much since Halloween.
Mari nearly voiced his thoughts, then, and he smiled. There certainly was a certain mindset within the Rienzi kids. "I can probably come up with a few ideas. Got to bring in the new year with a bang, right? You got anything?
"You know Keegs, I am totally out of good ideas. I mean, I've done stink bombs, I've used up that crate of treats from that joke shop in London. The one my aunt sent me, remember?" She sighed, now being completely propped up by the counter. "Maybe I'm losing my touch."
Keegan forced himself to ignore the nickname again, moving over to lean on the counter himself. "There's tons of other things. Exploding powder dinner rolls, the note on the wall where the fist comes out and hits them - that's always a classic. Set up a bunch of those dark-activated noise makers."
"You're not losing your touch, Mari." He grinned at her. Mari losing her touch would be like him forgetting how to skateboard. "Besides. April Fools is in a few months and you can't miss that, right?"
The pranks he rattled off were like music to her ears and Mari sighed longingly. "Classics" she echoed. "Itchy armpit deodorant! In the Quodpot locker rooms!" Plus that had the added bonus of maybe seeing a boy in a state of undress.
"Oh yeah man, April Fools needs careful, precise planning. I should start brainstorming!"
"Yea! That... too..." The itching powder in the locker rooms had sounded good to him for about five seconds before he realized that included him, if she targeted the Rienzi team. Hopefully Mari would skip the opportunity to get her housemates.
Keegan nodded in certainty. "You should! It's the best day out of the year to do it. I... still need to come up with something..."
Of course, Mari wouldn't dream of inflicting her own team. Besides, LaLaurie had the hottest guys anyway and probably the guys more inclined to be in a state of undress.
"Oh man, maybe we should all like, club together and buy an invisibility cloak" she joked, knowing they were very rare to find. "Endless fun" she added whistfully.
The wistful words that came out of her mouth matched the wistful look in his eyes at the thought of an invisibility cloak. "I would absolutely chip in on that if we found one. I doubt that'll ever happen but... one can dream."
"Well, yes," Keegan admitted, getting Mari's drift and agreeing with a good nod of his head. He grabbed himself another beer, as that was his original reason for coming in, as he continued. "Though, there are ways to get by without a cloak. Like a good disillusionment charm."
Mari stroked her chin thoughtfully. "Disillusionment, eh? You'll have to teach me. That could come in handy, I suck at stuff like that. Man, it'll be so good when we can do magic outside of school!"
"Then it'd be a practice together as I haven't perfected it myself. Yet. But almost!" But he would conquerer it, damnit. Eventually. Because he said so. "And yea, it's fantastic. No worrying about breaking a rule."
