Michi had been at Sam's house for a while and was well on her way to drunk when she saw who see thought to be Gael hoovering around by himself. Without thinking she bounded over and squeezed him tight and planted a big kiss on his cheek.
"Happy new year!" she said brightly. "Why you look so sulky?"
"I'm not Gael, is why." Leon muttered through clinched teeth, "he's occupied somewhere else, doing fuck knows what as long as it isn't around me."
He was starting to get angry, he realized, between bouts of self-induced misery. Why had he said it? Why had he just blurted it out like that? Leon's already blood-shot eyes began to burn again as tears built up. Angrily he reached up and scrubbed his face, pulling away from Michi.
Startled, she stepped back and covered her mouth. "Oooh, oh no," her mom side was coming out when she reached for Leon. "Don't, I'm sorry," she said in her softest voice. "Do you need anything?"
"No...no stop. Don't...I don't need you to be nice to me, just go away." Just shit, fuck. Damnit all to fucking hell and then some. If he could just wander outside and be hit by a car everything be over and better for everyone involved.
Closing his eyes he turned away from Michi. "You can't help, so don't bother."
She was half tempted to slap some sense into him but she just didn't have it in her. She couldn't be offended, (she had been there before) she just felt bad. She stepped away from Leon, giving him the space he needed. "Right," she nodded. "Right, I'll just leave you to it. I'm really sorry Leon."
"Where is Addy? I need to talk to Addy..." He didn't really need to, but he wanted to just have her near. Maybe it was fucked up, but for all their own fighting? She was a good part of his life.
There was a lot going on at the same time, although not really. "Uh... I didn't even know she was here," she fumbled to find her phone. "Do you want me to text her? I can text her! She's in my favorites!"
"She...I don't know." He scrubbed his hair, briefly nodding to her question. Seeing someone pass by with a drink, he lifted it off them and started downing it in large gulps. He just needed the pills to kick in.
"I..I have to talk to Rowan." He said, mindlessly setting one empty drink down as he snatched another from a passer by. "She's here, right?" Rowan would have an answer, a way to just fix everything and make it alright again.
Michi was trying to concentrate on texting and talking to Leon at the same time. "Yeah, yeah Ro is here, I just saw her..." she squinted and then pointed. "Oh there!" she said excitedly when she spotted her friend.
