Characters: Ciaran and JanJan
Setting: Art Room, after classes
Content: SFW, I would think
Summary: Ciaran draws a pretty picture for Janis in Art Club.

Ciaran leaned back on his chair, waiting for another glance in his direction. He was determined to get the eyes right, but more often than not his subject was looking away, concentrating on her own work...at least until she felt him watching her.

He didn't know the girl's name, but he knew what she thought of him. He'd killed people, apparently. With a pencil, apparently. And what had he asked to borrow from her before Christmas break?

Wedged between the pages of his sketchbook was a drawing done just for his little blonde friend. He'd give it to her later. Ciaran knew that she probably wouldn't be amused by it at all, but he would be.

Janis on the other hand, was working on turning a kitchen chair into something a lot more fanciful. New semester, new project and.. creepy boys being creepy. For the last twenty minutes Janis has been trying the 'if you ignore it, it will go away' theory but he hadn't and he was freaking her out.

Glancing up as she ripped another page out of American Girl, Janis caught him staring again. Oh gawd. He was probably wondering how she tasted... ...

Maybe not. Maybe, maybe he was just uh. Maybe there was a bug in her hair! Not good but nowhere near as bad as it could be!
"...uh."

See? That was the look that he wanted to capture. A small crease in her brow, head slightly tilted to one side and just a flicker of unease. Like a nervous, if slightly curious, little rabbit. Perfect.

Ciaran put his pencil to paper and got back to work, giving her eyes a wider, more fearful look. He flicked his eyes up whilst she was still looking; making sure he'd got it just so. She wasn't quite a deer in headlights, but she was getting there.

He smirked, flicking his eyes back up to his subject for a moment, watching her mouth this time. Her mouth looked small, her lips were full and slightly open; a worried little moue that matched her scaredy rabbit eyes.

Ciaran was liking the way this was turning out.

It wasn't until the second glance did Janis actually understand what Ciaran was doing. At least, she thought she knew what he was doing. The first thought was that he was checking her off his 'hit list' (hence the terror) but the second glance?

Was he... drawing her? Really?

She tried to glance back at her own chair, to put a sticker of a pony in the middle, but it was to no avail. Why was he drawing her? Why would he-

"Uhm. Uh. h-hi?"

He finished her face, pencil moving out to work a little more shape into her hair. It was curly and frizzy and sort of styled, but sort of not. It was purposefully chaotic, one bit looking more puffed up than the other when she leaned to one side.

Although he knew that she knew that he was watching her, Ciaran didn't expect the girl to actually speak. Their previous encounter hadn't really been a triumph, after all. But no, she was speaking to him now, albeit a little hesitantly. Understandable considering that he was the Stationery Murderer of Denver Prep.

His pencil stopped moving and he looked up. "Hey."

At least he'd finished her face before she started talking.

Oh God, he stopped working on the hit list. Was that a good thing? A bad thing? Did she just save lives, or risk her own by freeing up his main weapon. (He was known for killing four students and a teacher with one up in Colorado after all). Either way, she had to risk it. Let them say that Janis Parke went down fighting, a chair in one hand, a bottle of glue in the other.

Then? He spoke to her. She now knew what a killer's voice sounded like. Well fuck. "Wh- What are you w-working on?"

Janis wasn't typically one who stuttered, but with the obvious chance of her near death, she couldn't help herself.

Ciaran shrugged. "Just a drawing." How did you explain to someone that you'd been drawing them? It wasn't always taken as a compliment, wasn't always appreciated. When they were too wrapped up in their own activities it was much easier to just get on with your work...but then he'd never have captured her expression and it really was what made the sketch look lifelike. The look in her eyes reminded him of one of his dad's old vinyl sleeves.

In person the girl was starting to look a lot more anxious. She really believed he'd done something bad, didn't she?

He tapped his pencil on the desk, thinking for a moment. It was probably a little mean to deliberately scare her...but then she was gullible enough to think that the new kid was a serial killer. Fair game? Ciaran certainly thought so.

"I never gave you back your pencil from before the holidays," he said, reaching into his bag. "I really needed something...sharper than what I had."

Janis jumped a good two inches at the tap, hair hair bouncing another six inches on top of that. Was that a threat? Was it a warning? Or was it a nervous tick, like the kind that crazies had? She's seen those, in TV shows and stuff.

"Of...?" And then? Dear God he kept speaking, speaking about pencils of all things. Of her pencil that she erm. Loaned him. (Was that aiding a felon?)

"Oh that's, that is okay. Y-You can keep it if you want..."

"I draw people." That was avoiding the question, but considering how much she'd jumped just because he'd tapped his pencil against the desk...well, Ciaran didn't want to freak her out.

No more than he'd already planned to, anyway.

He rummaged in his bag, fishing out the pencil he'd borrowed from little blonde fear bunny before the new term and held it out to her across the desk.

"No, it's cool. You can have it back." He scoffed and shook his head. "It's not like I killed anyone with it." For a moment Ciaran caught her eyes on purpose. "I wanted to draw something for you."

Her poor chair and artisitic plans were ruined as he continued to speak. He draws people? Like his victims? Like his potential ones? Did people do that?

Janis watched his hands, oh so carefully as he began to dig around in his bag. It wasn't like he needed a knife or a gun or anything. Just about this entire room was a potential weapon, oh Jeezus. Why didn't she just skip today's? It wasn't like it was required or anything...

"For me? I-" Yup. She was going to prison for aiding a murderer. She could see the headlines now.

"T-tha-ank you."

Ciaran lifted the pages of his sketchbook to where he'd hidden his drawing for blonde rabbit girl, his current work temporarily on show. He'd kept the piece of paper face down, pressed between two pages so that the paper didn't crease and ruin all of his hard work.

Still face down, he slid the paper across the desk to her. "Tell me what you think?" he asked, staring her straight in the eye.

Janis couldn't really hold his gaze, and after a half-moment her eyes flicked down. Maybe she was wrong! Maybe she was just being judgmental, maybe... maybe it was bunnies, or her or something nice like a flower.

Maybe she was very right. Looking down at the sheet, Janis not only squeaked, she pulled back and away from both him and the sheet. It was horrible, blood- chainsaw and... ... fingers.

Dear god.
cantspell From: [info]cantspell Date: January 3rd, 2011 06:21 pm (UTC) (Link)
He bit down on his tongue, trying to keep his face straight. "Do you think I've got any talent?" Ciaran asked as soberly as he could as he closed up his notebook.

Watching the girl's face, he started to pack his things away. Naturally he left the pencils until last, just as a little nod to the things she'd heard.

He stood up, slinging his bag over his shoulder and looking down at the nervous blonde. "You shouldn't listen to rumours. They're not all true."
alittlevague From: [info]alittlevague Date: January 3rd, 2011 06:28 pm (UTC) (Link)
She still couldn't speak, couldn't even look at him or react to his comment about talent, or rumors. She wasn't even really paying attention to the bit about a chainsaw or the blood. Just... the fingers.

Oh yes Ciaran. You are good, you are very, very good. Talented enough to make a poor sophomore flash back to looking for lightening bugs, the smell and bits.

The best she could offer him in reply was a whimper. Well fuck There really isn't a worst way to begin the year.

Ciaran decided to let her keep that drawing as a souvenir. He didn't think it was his best work, and the way she kept staring at it...well, it didn't seem fair to snatch it away from her when she was clearly so fond of it.

Maybe she could put it on her wall?

He picked up his phone and stuffed it into his pocket. "I'm Ciaran, by the way," Ciaran said before patting the girl on the shoulder. "See you next week?"

Janis could only really flinch at his touch. That was just.. mean. Very very mean. Sorry Ciaran, she still thinks he kills people with a pencil, but now any questions as to whether or not he was a horrible person? Well those have been answered.

He was.
