"And do you? Have options, I mean." She was grinning now, her mouth against the skin of his neck. "I was a little younger than you when I first lost mine, so you've still got some time before it becomes... embarrassing."
"No, you can't. If you know a serial killer, you're already in danger. Something like 76 percent of homicide victims knew their killer."
"Of course." She echoed, yawning. She was a little bored of this 'I'm-so-cool' act. "Well I guess I better let you get to it then!" She stood up and stretched.
He turned his head slightly and tilted it, looking up at her, blinking slightly. "This second?" Well, he hadn't planned on it happening that quick. By the end of the school year maybe, but now?
"Don't lie, Alex." Emilie crossed her arms, scowling now. "And especially don't lie to me. If you can't man up and get what you want, lying about it just makes you look like a desperate loser."
Alex narrowed his eyes and stood up quickly. At this point in time he hated his age and height a little bit more than usual, wishing he had a few inches on Emilie to make his action perhaps a little more intimidating.
"I am not desperate, nor am I a loser." He kept his voice low, but it was still heated. "I'll prove it." And with that he began shoving his things into his bag, agitatedly.
He scowled at her, jerking his face away from her hand.
"I'm not trying hard," he snapped, turning away from her to busy himself with his things again. It was all he could do to focus his attention solely on something menial and tedious to calm himself down.
"But you admit that you are trying," Emilie grinned, forcefully stepping between Alex and his things. She got that reaction she'd been wanting, even though it mean that Alex didn't really want to talk to her anymore.
Somehow she wasn't bothered.
"What's wrong, Alex?" She sing-songed. "Did I hit a nerve?"
"No," Alex bit out, his teeth clenched together. "I'm not trying."
He sincerely wished he was taller than Emilie in this instance, so that he could just stare straight over her head. He settled, however, for glaring at her forehead.
"I don't believe you~" Emilie was giggling again. She wrapped an arm over his shoulder, tilting her face ever so close to his. Sorry Alex, but it was only that little reaction that she needed. He wasn't going to get rid of her as easily a second time.
"All done~" Emilie leaned against him, though it was a little difficult because she was taller. So she just leaned her hips against him. Just as effective.
"Oh?" It was really all Alex could come up with at the moment. He could always count on Emilie to take him for a complete loop. "Well. That's, uh, good."
"Such--" Alex broke off, clearing his throat. "Such as what?" He continued, keeping his voice level. He stayed perfectly still, not wanting to... disturb anything.
Poor Alex. Poor stupid Alex. Though Emilie felt... little to no pity. He didn't really seem to get subtlety.
"Hmm. You maybe?" Her mouth was ever-so-close to his, she made it worse by slinking her other arm over his shoulder so that her arms hung loosely behind his back-- wrapped around him like a snake.
"Maybe if you stopped trying to play it so cool..."
Alex blinked at her, going slightly cross-eyed in the process. He had the vague, niggling feeling like something was off, but he was too distracted to give it much thought.
"I don't think, um..." He found himself staring at her mouth, distracted. It was, after all, right there. "What?"
Emilie's smile was slow, contained, and calculating-- with just the barest flash of teeth. So much for playing it cool, huh Alex? she thought to herself as she curled her fingers through his hair.
Her lip rings grazed the skin of his top lip and she could fee his shuddering breath against her mouth. "Cat got your tongue?"
He shivered again when her nails brushed against his scalp. Alex was having a hard time focusing on what exactly he was saying and hearing. Nothing made sense any more. What was happening?
He moved his face closer involuntarily. That's what people did when they had other people in their face, practically kissing them. "Um, yeah...?"
