She was rendered (almost) speechless. "How much have you had to drink, Leon?" She finally asked in a soft whisper. They had been getting gradually quieter from the first yelled insult to now. Even as she expressed words of disbelief she moved closer to him, taking his hand into hers.
"I'm not drunk, Addy." He said softly, looking at her with a quiet sort of seriousness. "I mean it. Heh. I was jerk...I know." But did that mean they had to keep fighting? Weren't they, at one point, actually good for each other?
She looked down then, almost ashamed to admit even to herself how badly she wanted him. "I miss you a lot. And... I'm sorry about the frog thing." Goddamnit! How did he make her do that? She had no intention of apologizing for that ever; but here she was completely disarmed and with her heart about to beat right out of her chest.
Michi wasn't eavesdropping but she saw Addy and Leon getting closer and she had that swoony look. He was using that god damn European charm again. Fuuuuuuuuuuuck. She couldn't take it anymore. "ADELAIDE LEGAUX!" she barged in on the conversation and hooked her arm around Adelaide's elbow and pulled her away from Leon.
She glared at the boy who had caused her friend so many tears. Mama Michi was out in full force and she had no intention of seeing this game playing out again. "We have booze to attend to Legs," she gave her a little tug.
He was leaning in for a kiss, not even concerned with the rest of the party when suddenly he heard Michi's voice. His head spun to the side as he stared at the girl with wide eyes and a bit of a slacked jaw.
Why did people keep interrupting them?
"Michi!...." Fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. "Addy...fuck..." Now was not a good time for his words to fail him, but they sure as hell weren't coming to his mind in a way he wanted them to. "Michi, wait!"
Addy was thrown completely off-balance by Michi's sudden appearance; she wasn't quite sober enough to stay on her feet the way she would have liked. "MICHI, NOT NOW." She clawed her friend's hand off her arm. "Kinda busy."
Michi shot daggers at her friend. "Yeah, no," she pulled harder. Then she looked at Leon. "Spit it out Leon," she said, her normally sweet voice sounding sharp.
"What...We were talking, why does everyone have to get in the middle of us when we are talking?" Not that there was anyway in hell he was going to try to untangle those two. "Wasn't as if anything is going to happen in the middle of a party."
"You're the one telling me I need to resolve shit!" Addy pouted; Michi's iron grip only tightening on her arm. "This is like the first non-screaming, non-slapping talk we've had in forever," she whined. "Let me go!"
"Yeah and every time you two talk Addy ends up upset," Michi said just as stubbornly. "I really don't want to have to kick your ass bud," she said to Leon. She would throw Addy over her shoulder if she had to.
Leon held his hands up in surrender, looking down at the ground as he stepped back. For a moment he just stood there, a beer in one hand, dangling down, and the other just limp and lifeless in the air. When he looked up again, he was frowning.
"Sorry." He murmured to both of them, dropping his arms slowly. "I'll go."
