"Okay, first," Keegan held up a finger with a smirk, "One question at a time." Rowan was able to think much faster than he could, and whenever she tended to fire off questions and information at him, he usually didn't remember most of it by the time she stopped.

He nodded his head in the direction of the library, taking a step in that direction. "Secondly, walk with me." Keegan figured that the library would be some place she'd end up with or without him. There was no use delaying the inevitable.

Her mouth tended to move rapid fire with questions when she was interested in something, trying to keep the pace with her brain as best she could. It tripped up her tongue sometimes, but she usually managed to catch up with things fairly quickly. Moving to fall into step beside Keegan, Rowan headed with him in the direction of the library.

"Sorry, I just... this is all like... ok, so how did the briefing go and what did they say?" That absolutely counted as one question to her.

It figured that she wouldn't be able to manage one single question, but at least the two part question he could work with without getting lost. "It was short, obviously. Pendragon split us into teams. Two students to a teacher, and it was something like six or seven teams."

Keegan continued speaking as he continued to walk, his hands in his pockets for the time being. "It's nothing they've really seen before, this creature. It's unique, though it does have likenesses to other creatures. The closest relation is the lethifold."

"Ok, so it looks like a lot of people will be out there. Good that they have you in small teams with a faculty member present." She was not going to voice her concerns for him, and the other students going out to hunt. There were so many things that could go wrong, really, and just because these students were over the age of majority didn't mean that they were necessarily prepared for what was coming.

Listening to him speak the rest about the creature, Rowan thought for a moment before opening the book back up and turning a few pages before she found what she was looking for. Reading as she went, she spoke aloud her thoughts. "Lethifolds usually prefer tropical weather, so that's... unusual. Is your patronus... corporeal? Because if this is some hybrid form of it, then that may well be the only way you have to subd-- OOF!" Tripping over her foot as she read and walked, Rowan fumbled the book and stumbled toward the ground.

Keegan nodded and glanced over at her as she opened her book back up. That wasn't a good idea, he knew, and kept his eyes on her. Rowan was one of the most accident prone people he had ever met. Reading while walking was just asking for trouble.

As such, he was not the least bit surprised when she tripped and began to stumble forward. Keegan moved to grab her before she hit the ground, calling up the fast reflexes granted to him from years of playing quodpot. Plus he was expecting it. When he was sure he had her, he began the process of getting her back onto her feet. "Careful, love. You can wait to read once you're stationary."

Impatient when it came to gathering useful information to satisfy her own rampant curiosity, Rowan did sometimes read and walk at the same time. More often than not though, during those times she did usually take a tumble. Unfortunately, her need for information far outweighed her own sense of self-preservation sometimes, and she didn't usually learn her lesson about that one.

Managing not to make a disappointed sound at his statement, she let Keegan help her become upright again. "Sorry, sorry. I just... I want to figure this out. It's driving me nuts. To think this thing was in my dorm..." She let out a shudder before moving to go pick up the book from where it landed. "Thanks for the assist there."

"No problem," he answered easily and released her so that they could continue on towards the library. Though he walked a little faster than before, knowing her eagerness to get to delving into research.

Keegan picked up where she had left off in the discussion, before she tripped. "Anyway. Pendragon said that normal spells do affect it, so we don't just have a patronus charm to rely on. And she said it was mostly related to a lethifold, not that it was. So the usual habitat for them is a bit of a moot point."

"That's true... but then if it's related to a lethifold... what do you think the other parts are? If we can figure that out then maybe you could have knowledge of a weakness of some kind. Or something. I'll know more later after hitting the books. I may stay at the library tonight..."

In truth, Rowan was more than a little scared about this whole thing with it being in her own dorm. What if it had a nest in the eves? What if there was one in her room right now? What if it came through the ventilation or the laundry and could get into her room while she was sleeping? Not that she was sleeping much. Walking faster with him toward their destination, she thought quickly about some ideas for things to look up. "So whose team are you on?"

He shrugged a little bit and headed to the building that housed their destination. "I have no idea what the other parts are. It can shapeshift to look like a cloak, has sharp teeth, it flies instead of glides, and ambushes from above." That was about all he could recall in terms of detail on the thing.

"I'm with Ciaran and Professor Baer." He would have preferred to go with Fortis, their house head, but Baer wasn't a bad deal at all. A good guy and one of the two teachers on campus that had useful insight on the creatures seeing as that was his area of expertise.

"Shapeshift, sharp teeth, more of an overt predatory instinct, seems stronger than the original. Hmmm...." If one were to be looking at Rowan's face, it would almost be apparent that there were multiple gears turning in her mind with that information. "That's something to go on. I can probably cross-reference those things with creatures."

Nearing the library building now, Rowan looked up and increased her pace. All that knowledge just a short distance away almost pulled her in of its own accord. "Well, Professor Baer will be useful for this, certainly. I would assume Professor Fortis would be there. Is the Headmistress leading a group?"

Keegan walked a little faster to keep up with her quickening pace. It seemed she was more than eager to get in there and get to work. He didn't even bother trying to get ahead of her to get the door, letting her enter before he continued to speak.

"Fortis is going, yes. Pendragon isn't, or at least not with any students. She didn't mention anything but I think the groundskeepers might help, and maybe other members of faculty." He gave a small shrug and followed her inside.

Letting herself in tot he building and heading unerringly past the front desk (with a smile of recognition from the librarian) and to the section she had gotten the book she was holding from. Her voice dropped in volume slightly as she entered the library, because well... this was a library after all.

"I'm sure that yeah, they would have other members of faculty and staff out looking as well. It makes sense, after all. Ok, so then let me..." Heading over to a few shelves, her eyes scanning the spines of the books as she went, Rowan pulled three books from the shelves and brought them over to a table.

"Do me a favor? Just open all these to the lethifold listing. I'll read them later. So what do you think is going on? I mean, random creatures all over the place all of the sudden? What is all this?"

He followed Rowan into the building, idly putting his hands in the front pockets of his jeans as they walked past the front desk. She probably knew to find the books she wanted, so he just followed along behind. This was her realm of expertise, not his.

Keegan took a seat beside her when she picked a table and pulled over the books she retrieved. "Damned if I know," he answered as he opened the first one and began to find the listing she was looking for. "Could be things that came from other places. Could be someone fucking around on campus. Could be that these things have been here a while and have started acting more forward, so we've noticed them."

She opened her notebook, grabbed a pen and jotted down a few page references and ideas. "I don't want to take forever at this, since I know this is not the world's most fun activity but... I just need to get this out of my head to work on later." She knew that extra work and time spent in the library was not exactly high on Keegan's priority list, but for her own sanity she needed to run over some information quickly.

Writing down from what she scanned from the pages he had opened to for her, she got detailed information about Lethifolds, and about possible cross-breeding with other animals, magical or Muggle. After a few minutes of writing and murmuring things to herself, Rowan looked up.

"Ok, I think this is all I need for right now. If this is someone fucking around... then they've been planning this for a while. If they came from other places, then why here? If they've been here and are acting more forward, then what drove them to do that, you know? I'll try and figure this out..."

Once he had all the books opened to the right places, he sat back in the chair and watched her work. It was a better thing to do than turn at stare at all the books. Keegan liked books, sure. But ones to read for entertainment and not really the educational kind. Horror and fantasy, not fact and theory.

"Of course you will," he said with a nod, "Figuring things out is what you do. I'll walk you back to your dorm?" With all the information she had, he just figured she'd want to start working on things soon.
