As much as Graham wanted to say that he'd never miss pack life, he could never quite say the words. He sometimes missed his pack... especially Sigmund. They had a rough go of things for a few years, but it was hard to shake feelings for someone when you had such a deep ... Well, he wasn't sure what it was that they'd had. But Graham wasn't the best type of man for a pack. He didn't get along with Hunter at all, and honestly? He hardly got along with any of the other wolves.

So he took off on his own after he and Sigmund had decided to part ways once and for all. They always fell back together, so it was easier to just leave. And he found another wolf who he ended up traveling with sometimes. They tracked hunters who tracked their kind. They'd saved a lot of packs, and killed some hunters in their day, but what had to be done had to be done in Graham's opinion.

When he caught wind of the Cold Water pack being in trouble, he couldn't push down the familiar feelings of protectiveness. That was his pack, even if he wasn't actively there or a part of it. Two days later, and he was at Sigmund's door knocking. When a young man with tossled hair answered, Graham arched a brow.

"Who the fuck are you?" he asked the boy.

Casey just sort of blinked before he furrowed his brow and wet his lips. He hadn't expected that sort of greeting from the stranger at all.

"Um, my name's Casey, who are you?" he said in return.

"Where's Sigmund?" Graham asked as he pushed the human aside. It was still Sigmund's home. He could feel it... And mell the other wolf, too.

Once Sigmund became attached to someone, it was impossible for him to get completely over them. Since Graham, Sigmund had been incredibly guarded, knowing that anyone he met wouldn't be as good and it was pointless to get hurt again because that's just what happened for people like Sigmund. That was before Casey had come along, of course. Casey had changed everything for Sigmund and he'd been smart enough not to bring up his past with Graham, assuming it would never be an issue.

Until now. Sigmund came downstairs, thinking the doorbell was the pizza they'd ordered. He'd pulled on jeans after his shower and was still buttoning up his shirt as he trucked down the stairs from the loft. Silly, because he should have smelled the painfully familiar presence of his old lover. The surprise of seeing him back in his home was enough to make his heart splash into his stomach. Why would you do this to me? Was the first question Sigmund wanted to ask the man, but he was mature enough to realize that this might not all be about him. "That's Graham. Pack." Nothing more than pack now. "What's going on?"

The moment that Sigmund said the word pack in front of the human, Graham just set him with a surprised, but not at all friendly, look.

"Just pack, really?" he shot back as he arched a brow. "You told him? A human? I mean, obviously not everything, but enough."

Casey was still adjusting to everything that came with Sigmund and being in a relationship with the older man. He'd met most of the pack, and they'd all seemed friendly enough towards him. There were a few stand offish ones at first, but once they realized he really wasn't going to run off spilling his guts to people about what they were, they seemed to accept him to a degree. But this guy? Casey hadn't ever seen or even heard the name before.

"I'll be on the porch," he said quietly as he exchanged a look with Sigmund and slipped outside to give the two some privacy.

Graham didn't really acknowledge Casey's announcement, and instead waited for the sound of the door to shut before he crossed his arms over his chest and gave Sigmund a disgruntled look.

"A human, Sigmund, really? A human? What is he, twelve?"

He admitted to himself fully that he had missed that angry look. It was so easy to pull those out of Graham. But the fact that he was talking down about Casey riled him and he frowned right back.

"Yes, really. He's really a human and yes, he knows what we are. We were attacked and I had to shift in front of him. But I would have told him eventually anyway. You know I've never been good at lying to anyone." Not anyone he loved, and that was the key here. He loved Casey, and he wasn't about to try to explain that to Graham. "Did you come here to check my house for information leaks? Moles? Bugs? I can assure you he's not part of some great human conspiracy to eradicate werewolves, so your services aren't needed here at the moment." It was kind of a shitty thing to say, and Sigmund wouldn't have said it had he known Graham really had come here to warn him about a hunter threat.

"You're an idiot," Graham said with a shake of his head as a quiet laugh escaped him. "You can never mate to him properly, and you're too much of a wolf for that to be really all right with you. I know you, Sigmund. He's a fragile little thing and you probably like that, but he could die tomorrow in a fucking car accident or from... Swine flu," he said with a smirk.

When Sigmund launched into that speech about how his services weren't needed, however, the amusement quickly faded and Graham's expression turned dark and serious.

"Actually they are, but not because of him," he shot back. "Word got to me that there's a hunter here, watching you guys. And he's not the type of hunter that we can just ignore, I've heard about this one. Been trying to find him for a while, but he's too fucking smart. I came to tell you that you should probably pack up and go to the haven, you're too vulnerable here without the rest of the pack. And I'll need to speak with Hunter."

Sigmund wore his heart on his sleeve enough to look hurt when Graham said that about not being able to fully mate with Casey. He was wrong. Sigmund felt so close to that boy and he knew deep down that that connection was real. But having Graham prod at his insecurities was jarring. "Why would you say that? We can't be together and I know you're with someone else. I can smell him on you. For once, don't be a selfish prick." Already they were fighting and it killed Sigmund because for a second, he thought maybe Graham had come back to be a part of Coldwater again.

He rubbed his hand over his face. "I can take care of myself and I can take care of Casey," he said defensively, just being stubborn like always. "Just go and talk to Hunter. We'll be fine."

"Just because I'm fucking someone else doesn't mean I'm silly enough to fall in love with someone who can never really understand me, so don't give me that shit, Sigmund," Graham said quietly as he folded his arms across his chest again.

They'd only been in the same room for what? Five minutes? And all ready they were arguing. It'd always been that way with them. Always hot, sometimes too hot, and it never really worked. That didn't make it any easier to see Sigmund, though, or to smell Casey on him and know that the other wolf had moved on.

"Can you, now?" he asked, arching a brow. "That kid is going to be your achilles heel, Sigmund."

Knowing this hunter, and what little Graham had been able to dig up on the man, he wouldn't see anything wrong with using Casey if he could. Human or not, he was shacking up with a werewolf, right?

"I heard he's not alone. Another hunter is with him, and he's got two nasty ... I don't even know what with him too, but I hear they're quite good at torturing."

If he'd known what Oliver and Harris were really capable of, if he'd known the things they'd done, he'd definitely be more up in arms about everything. But all he'd heard was that they were dangerous, and that was it.

The word 'fucking' made him flinch. Was it really so much to ask that Graham never touched another person again for as long as he lived? Even if he couldn't be with him, did the man really have to go and be with someone else? Sigmund knew how ridiculous that was, but it didn't stop him from wanting it so badly.

"We were just at the Haven," he said with a sigh. Not that Sigmund didn't love his pack dearly, but there was a reason he lived in the town rather than out at the Haven. There was a lot wrapped up in that territory. A lot of issues with Hunter and issues with the memories of his father. "Are you seriously saying that we need to go back?" He gave Graham a look, one that almost pleaded with him to say that this was all a joke, or a false alarm. Graham knew his issues, knew what it meant for Sigmund to be up at Wolf Haven for extended periods of time.

"Do you really think I'd be here right now if I wasn't serious about this?" Graham asked as he threw up his hands a little bit and shook his head.

He glanced towards the window as the pizza man approached the porch, but he knew Casey would take care of it, and he had Sigmund's full attention. His gaze flickered back to Sigmun and he let his hands settle against his hips as a heavy sigh escaped him. He was trying to calm down and to stop raising his voice so much.

"Just because I'm not here, doesn't mean this isn't still my pack. Just because we can't work, doesn't mean that I don't still care about you. I'm serious, Sigmund. If you stay here, something bad is going to happen, you're the easiest target because you're not with the pack. And yes, I know you're strong. Trust me, if anyone knows that it's me," he said quietly, because it was the main reason they could never work. They were both too dominant. "But Casey isn't. And if you care about him, you won't want to risk them snagging him to haul off and do God knows what to, am I right?"

His wolf wanted out. It wanted to greet Graham, pounce on him and play with him. It also wanted to dominate him and that's where the trouble would start if they were both in wolf form. Sigmund would have laughed at himself and his impulses if the situation wasn't so dire right now.

"All right. We'll go back. We'll stay there until this gets figured out." Graham was right and even if he hated to admit it, Sigmund would always heed his advice to some extent. "And I know you're still a part of this pack. In the beginning, that thought was pretty much the only one that got me through you not being around." He shook his head at how pathetic it sounded, given that they'd both decided it would be best.

Graham hated that he had to result to using Sigmund's obvious feelings for Casey to get him to agree. But Grahan would always do what he needed to in order to accomplish a task, and that would never really change about him.

He could feel Sigmund's wolf wanting to come out, to roll to the surface, despite how good Sigmund was at keeping it at bay. Graham stared back over at him, silent for a moment as they just stood there, a few feet apart. He was shorter than Sigmund, something he'd always hated, even if it was just by a few inches. They seemed like miles to him, and he noticed immediatly once he stepped a little bit closer.

"I didn't think it would be this hard to see you," he admitted after a moment. "The human doesn't make it any easier."

"His name is Casey," he corrected, resenting the fact that Graham kept calling him 'the human.' "They're not all evil, you know. It's not us vs. them." Sigmund hated that mentality, though he could see why Graham would have it considering the type of humans he dealt with.

His back straightened just a touch, just enough to make him that much taller than his ex-lover. It was a fact that had always given him a satisfying edge over the other man. Though in a physical fight, they were quite evenly matched and that had always pissed Sigmund off. "Ride with us to the Haven. Or did you bring your own car? Did someone drive you?" He glanced out the window, trying to see his own driveway and any unfamiliar cars that may have been in it.

When Sigmund straightened up, Graham narrowed his eyes just a bit before he shook his head. There was no way in hell he was riding back to the haven with Sigmund and a twelve year old.

"I have my own truck, I'll see you there," he said, his tone short as he turned to head for the door.

Casey tipped his head back as Graham passed him by to go get into his truck, and once the man was pulling out of the drive Casey got up to carry the pizza inside. He had a puzzled look on his face as he set the box down on the coffee table.

"He... Was kind of..." he said with a nervous laugh, "I don't know - who was that?"

With a sigh of frustration that bordered on a growl of insanity, Sigmund took the pizza from Casey and set it on the steps before he gathered the younger man up in his arms and kissed him. He needed that, needed some kind of release to the tension and a reaffirmation that Casey wasn't just a human like Graham had said. What right did he have to come in here and judge. Sigmund's wolf rolled up and over the both of them as he pressed Casey back against the wall. He didn't give him a chance to breathe, just kissed him hard enough to make his knees buckle. His hips rocked forward, practically assaulting the poor boy instead of answering that question.

When he finally broke away, he kept close, holding Casey's gaze with intensity. "He's someone I used to be with. He came to warn us about a hunter. We need to go back to the haven until this all blows over. Don't worry--Graham frequently gets his panties in a bunch over nothing." Not true, but he wanted to reassure Casey.

When Sigmund came at him like that, Casey barely had time to think. His body just reacted on it's own, and he kissed back as his arms wound around Sigmund's shoulders. He stood up on his toes and let out a soft sound as he was pushed against the wall, and he pressed his hips forward. He had no idea where the aggression was coming from, but he liked it. He was a little breathless when the kiss broke, and he wet his lips as he looked up to meet Sigmund's eyes.

"Oh," he said softly, not entirely sure how to take the information of Sigmund and Graham being together. "All right... Um, well, do you want me to go to my Gram's or ... Are you sure they'll let me stay out there again?"

He wanted to ask more about Graham, but he didn't know how to just yet.

He wanted to take Casey upstairs for a quickie before they left, but then he thought how cruel it would be to arrive late to the haven smelling like sex. The moment he thought about that though, he was angry over the fact that Graham's arrival could alter his actions with Casey so quickly. This was not going to be an easy stay out at Wolf Haven.

"No, you need to stay with me. If some half-bit pack alpha knew enough to come after you, then his hunter would know to do the same. I can't have you in harm's way. I can escort you to classes if you want." He smirked at that thought, carting Casey around, his personal bodyguard. "And if any of the pack have a problem with you, then they have a problem with me." He kissed his chin after he'd tilted it upward. "I'm being bossy, aren't I. Do you mind?"

Casey swallowed and shook his head a little bit at the question as Sigmund tipped his head forward, and he shifted in his stance so that he could wrap his arms around the older man's shoulder a little bit more. He pressed his face against Sigmund's chest and let out a sigh.

"Why aren't... What didn't work out between you two?" he said after a moment, gaining enough courage to just ask, though his voice was quiet.

The contact was infinitely calming and he was very thankful that Casey was coming with him to the haven. He knew he couldn't handle Graham without the stabilizing factor of the boy in his arms.

"We were alike in the wrong ways and different in the wrong ways. We were never able to compliment each other like you and I do. We were just mismatched." He couldn't keep the taint of regret from his voice. At the time, he'd wanted things to work out so much. But standing here with Casey made him glad it hadn't.

Casey easily caught onto the tone, and he swallowed hard as he tightened his hold on Sigmund. He felt insecure, even though he knew that he was probably being silly. But he honestly couldn't help it. How could he compare to an ex who was what Sigmund was? And was actually older... And probably smarter. More experienced in all the ways Casey wasn't and couldn't be.

"Why'd he come here to you and not Hunter? Couldn't he just have told Hunter and he would have called you, wouldn't he?"

Sigmund could almost feel his worry radiating off of him. "I don't know," he said with a slight frown. That was a very good question, to be honest, and one that Sigmund definitely didn't have the answer to. He could guess, but he didn't really want to admit what he thought.

"Do you think I'm going to want to be with him again? Because he's back?" He wanted to get that out in the open, worried that Casey was going to think he and Graham still had something viable.

Casey shrugged his shoulders a little bit as he pulled back to brush his hair out of his eyes. He blinked a few times before his gaze met Sigmund's, and a quiet sigh escaped his lips.

"He's... Like you," he said after a moment. "I know I can't ever really be like... What Wendell is to Hunter, you know? Sometimes I worry about that."

Sigmund almost laughed at the notion that Graham could fill that role either. If Sigmund was looking for a Wendell, he'd be looking far from Graham. But he held the laugh in check because he knew that now wasn't the time and he didn't want to make Casey feel worse. "You're what I want," he said firmly. "Every part of you. There is absolutely nothing that is lacking about you and nothing I wish would change." He paused and then smiled a little, breaking through his own seriousness. "Except maybe that you would walk around naked more often."

Casey couldn't help but wonder what exactly it was about him that made him so perfect to Sigmund. Maybe Sigmund just... Wanted to be with a human. Maybe it really didn't matter that Casey wasn't a wolf, too, because a human was what Sigmund really wanted. Or maybe it was just Casey he wanted. Either way, the boy felt lucky, and he leaned up on his toes to press a kiss to the older man's mouth as a hand came up to rest against Sigmund's jaw.

Indulging in a long lingering kiss, Sigmund pressed himself against Casey. When the kiss broke, he reached down to grope his ass playfully. "Pack a few things? We can eat some pizza on the way up." He couldn't believe they were really going back so soon, but Sigmund knew it was the right thing to do.

The kiss literally took Casey's breath away, and he swallowed hard when Sigmund pulled away. He wet his lips and nodded his head a little before he stole one more quick kiss, and then he slipped past Sigmund to go upstairs to pack a few things. He came back down a few moments later with his dufflebag and violin case in tow.

"My Grams keeps saying I practically live with you," he said with a sheepish grin.

"Do you think she's all right with it?" It was hard to think of Casey as belonging to anyone but him. But he had to recognize that his Grandmother had a piece of him too. "I mean, deep down." Sigmund worried about such things sometimes.

Sigmund had packed a few things too, and now he was heading out to the car, loading them up. He'd already managed to down a couple pieces of pizza too.
