New Year's
The beginning of a New Year, a time for new hopes, new experiences to come. A time to reflect on times past, remembering fond memories happily and trying to put less pleasant thoughts and experiences in the past.

It is a time of renewal, a time of rebirth. And for much of the world, it is a time of celebration. This is no less true for the super hero set as anyone else. If anything, they just have that much bigger of things to look forward to.

	This year Jane was drinking a bit more than she should. She was drinking to Mia and angry that she hadn't been fast enough. She hated feeling like this but loosing her best friend to a serial killer had pretty much destroyed her right now. There was going to be a lot of heavy drinking before the night was through. Robert was on the first plane to Gotham when Jane called him about Mia. He couldn't believe it. Mia was his sister and he'd never gotten to know her at all. He'd never told her his real name.

Now, she was dead and Robert, despite not knowing his sister, felt the loss keenly. Mia was a good person...which meant that Robert had to own that Oliver was a decent judge of character.

Worse yet, Jane was suffering and he couldn't help her. Sure, he could hover over her until Jane got upset and did something crazy, like go down the station...

and then Robert Queen knew what he had to do to honor Mia and help his girlfriend.

"Honey? Hey...I need to go out for a little bit. Will you be all right here? If you're not, just say so and I won't." Robert says.

Jane was close to slipping and running into her room to change into the same dark clothes she had worn. She had a rifle and knew exactly where she could squat down to get the shot.

No one would be heart broken over this. No one would blame the rage that had festered in her gut like cold ice. She stopped right away and looked up.

"I... I'll be okay for a while." She should order a pizza. Food might calm her down.

"Okay. I'll be back as soon as I can. Maybe you can get us some dinner and then we can just relax when I'm back? Watch the countdown, maybe?" he suggests.

He knows that Jane would come with him if he suggested it, but she couldn't have this on her soul. Mia came across as a good person, and she brought out a warmer side of Jane. Something told Robert that Mia wouldn't want to see her friend start down a path like the one he'd been walking for years.

Moreover, the thing that he loved most about Jane was that she /wasn't/ a killer. She made him want to be a better man, even though he knew he never would.

Robert was more than willing and equipped to kill a man in cold blood, especially if that man was guilty.

"Okay, honey. I'll be back as soon as I can." Robert says, walking out the door.

As soon as he gets downstairs, he pulls his back out of the corner he'd hidden in earlier today. Jane would have know what he was up to if he'd left the house with it and she'd have either asked to go or tried to stop him, neither of which he wanted.

So, Robert Queen leaves the house, readying himself to make some magic.
