Voices in my head
"Will you all please be quiet so that I can read, please?" Sindella said, grabbing a hold of her head, massaging her temples.

Ever since Superman's death, they had gotten louder. The dead. Over the years, Sindella had grown used to "hearing voices" in her head. She was normally pretty good at tuning them out when she wanted to, too. But lately...she was having a harder time with it.

"My wife...I never got to tell my wife how much she really meant to me. Do you think she knows that I love her?"

"We never found my son's teddy bear...he won't be able to sleep without it. Oh he must be so scared..."

"Please. Please stop!" Sindella's hands covered her ears, though she knew it wouldn't help much. "I can't think!"

There was still the roar of voices.

And then..suddenly it stopped.

Though something didn't feel quite right about it.

Sindella reached out for the one voice that she always knew that she could rely on.

"Grandpa John? Are you there? Can we talk?"

Nothing.

"Anyone? Hello?"

Something was wrong. She could feel it.

	"I was hoping you could tell me, Sindella." Zach's face is grim. "I've been picking up fluctuations in the ether when I teleport. Nothing that caused any problems, mind you, but it seemed spiritual in nature. Or rather... an absence of spirit. There are empty places where there shouldn't be. If Victoria noticed that Zach had redressed her a bit more form-fittingly than Sindella, she gave no mention of it. Her mind was far too occupied with the current crisis to be annoyed by his antics.

"We are quite near," she said. She pointed. "There."

Rising up on the hillside before them were steps, leading to massive gates. "Namba Parbat. Home to repentant spirits and place of spiritual healing. We shall find the answers we seek here."

Mia stepped out of the shadows, an arrow pointed at Zach's face.

"Or were you doing it with her the entire time, because what the hell was the point of staying with someone who just had a black mark on her, anyway?"
