Mothers and Daughters
Since being back in San Francisco Cait had spent most of her free time in the bay with Hope. She had her job back at the aquarium and life with the Titans was good. Cait was happy, but she would not deny that she had an empty spot in her heart. She could never return to Atlantis and that hole in her heart would be there for as long as she was exiled.

Cait knew she would see her parents. They still loved her and she loved them and they would be by to visit. Well her mother would be. Arthur was a different story and if he did show up, it would probably be to bring her back to Atlantis. Try to. Cait would not go willingly.

Today was a day off of work and Cait was down in the bay playing with Hope.

	Mera smiled as well. "I simply believe that the Council should appreciate effort made on Atlantis' behalf. Sometimes they need to be encouraged to see the right path. A princess with the means to obtain such an important favor should be fairly compensated for it." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Cait smiled and kissed his cheek. "Thank you." The tea kettle was starting to whistle and Cait removed it from the heat. She could have just heated the water up herself, but there was something to be said about doing things the normal way. "The only way to deal with Atlantean politics is to stay away from them."

She filled the teapot and while the tea was seeping, she got another mug out of the cabinet for Ty.

"Is there going to be a royal decree about what weekend and what month, or do I get a choice in the matter."

	"Not unless it becomes necessary. I trust you will keep your end of the accord." Mera hoped that one day soon Cait will want to come home on her own. She had her daughter back, everything else was just a detail. "Politics are required, I'm afraid, but I will not let Arthur let them take over our lives again. We have much to be grateful for now." Mera took the cup and murmured a thank you.

"I trust that Cait will consider your requirements when you visit, Ty," she said to the young man. "We're all alive and Atlantis will be rebuilt. It is a good time to rebuild our family bonds as well. You are very welcome. Don't mind Arthur's occasional growling. He is a father and like all fathers doesn't believe for a moment that there is a young man /anywhere/ who is good enough for her. Anything else that might be discussed...will not. I will see to that."

	"He's a king, that puts a lot of extra weight on his head. I know he wants to do right by his daughter, but he also has Atlantis to look after... I'm not holding anything against him. Cait looked at Ty. She didn't want to talk about such personal things, but her Mother had to know. She had to know about Ty's issues with his powers and that would mean telling her about the link they shared.

"Mother, Ty needs an environment with as little stress as possible. His powers...and we share a link, but there are times when I cannot help enough. Arthur needs to know this or it could be the ruin of Atlantis."

An environment with little stress, and Mera realized she may have just made things much worse. Forget the succession issue, if Atlantis was in danger Arthur would take a harder line.

If she couldn't smooth it along the way and she had every expectation that she could.

"We did need to know about this, Cait. I can't promise that there won't be stress. All of us are having to make changes and it is naturally stressful at times. However, I can promise you that I will do my best to make your visits as stress free as possible. I will also explain it to your father."

Ty nods. "Its... tricky. As long as I'm mentally linked to someone who is emotionally stable, I'm fine. Cait is my usual anchor, Ruth helps out. The... uhm... abilities of the Secret Society of Supervillains aren't the only powers I have... they're just the ones I control. Which means I can move Atlantis, but the other... 200 some powersets sometimes show up if I get stressed and I don't have an anchor." he explains, in the interests of full disclosure.

"So there is danger involved... but there's also a lot I can potentially offer."

"I see. The life of an Atlantean royal can be stressful," Mera said. Her resolve didn't weaken. She was not losing her only living child.

She sipped her tea. It had been quite nice to watch Cait make it. Ty was in part responsible for Cait's well being, and that earned him leeway with Mera. "We start with a visit. Then two, three, and so on. We'll take it one at time."
