Football night counts as date date
This had just sort of happened. She wasn't sure how exactly but Harry was a nice guy. A nice guy who liked football too apparently.

So she had figured out when a game would be on. She had then asked if he wanted to watch it with her. Then when he said yes she went and made a metric ton of Buffalo wings so they'd have something to pick at through out the game. It's slightly sad to her that she can make meat very well but pies and green beans turn into burnt bricks if she attempts them.

She also had some beer for the game. She wasn't sure she'd drink any of it but it was around just in case. She had no idea if Harry drank beer. She just knew that while she wasn't technically old enough to have beer legally she still managed to get it whenever she wanted it. If she got nervous during this date she might need it to settle her nerves a bit. Harry did after all seem like the kind of guy she would really like and that could make this go either really well or extra awkward.

"Lotsa cross country, soft ball, and field hockey," she says with a grin. She waited to start talking until after he had settled down. She had a feeling she might need to pin him in place a bit to get him to relax.

On second thought bad plan. He might blow up from getting flustered.

"Almost qualified for a scholarship but I blew out my rm real bad when the recruiters would've seen me. Found other ways ta get into school though. I ain't dumb... just talk like this. It's comfortable. "

He's more relaxed than he was a moment ago but still a little nervous. He hopes it doesn't show.

"It sounds like you were really good if you were even considered for a scholarship. That sucks about your injury though. Are you better now?" He hasn't noticed her in any pain so he didn't realize...oh dear, he better not have accidentally flared up an old injury with that teleporting stunt.

"Why would anyone think you're dumb? I don't see it...is it just cause of people's accents? Cause I know a guy with the most stereotypical cowboy accent ever and he's one of the top in his engineering class." Judging people annoys him, everyone has a reason for the way they are and he hated it when people forgot that the people they were judging were people too. He takes a sip of his coke to try and prevent himself from saying any more.

"Oh yeah. Only gets bad if I gotta throw. And gotta be careful about how far I extend it." She puts both arms out for a demonstration. One can't quite go all the way straight ;like the other.

"Can't throw like I used 'ta. Damn shame. I was great," she finds her mouth is twisting again from missing being able to play well. At least field hockey hadn't gotten taken from her entirely. "Eh... it ain't that. I talk about the stuff I like doin' and some folks think I'm just a meat head... which is dumb. I know stuff. I just don't talk all educated like 'cause I ain't comfortable doin' that. People should feel comfortable with themselves."

Harry only looks at her arms with a concerned frown. It's not in his power to fix it, he wishes he could. "Maybe you could ask Lenny? He's good at healing stuff..." More than the arm, he doesn't like seeing that expression on her face when she's missing what she could do.

"They're the dumb ones, you can't just decide how smart someone is based on that stuff. It's like saying, I dunno, that all people who watch football must be dumb and lazy." He gestures towards the game that's on (he honestly hasn't been looking at the screen much). "Which would mean both of us are in trouble." He shoots a playful smile at her.

There's no comment on the being comfortable with oneself. Harry is realtively comfortable with himself. He's just shy sometimes and...well it's not like he's gotten more comfortable with himself ever since this power thing happened.

They're just setting up for the game. The announcer is talking about the history between the coaches on the two opposing teams just now.

She blinks at him then chuckles and grabs a wing to gnaw on so she can distract herself. Harry is very nice and she's glad she wanted to do this with him.

"Alright, well I don't know what sports we can play around here...team or not. Well water polo? But no stupid caps. Oh! There's a pool table around here somewhere, do you ever play? I didn't mean pool as a sport in the sense of...well nevermind." He stops himself before he gets too flustered and follows her example by taking another chicken wing.

Harry finally glances at the screen. Oh, it still hasn't started? Although it's not like he'd mind if he had missed part of the game...

Oh he's very aware that she's scooted closer to him and he seems to flush a little but continues anyway, "It is! And even when you play with people who aren't experienced half the fun is the crazy shots that happen unexpectedly! Ummm...did you want to play sometime?"

He probably wanted to say something else but he forgets since he's noticing just how close she's gotten. He hopes the unnaturally loud thumping in his chest doesn't give away his nervousness.

Between her agreeing to play pool with him and the fact that she's closer to him, Harry can't keep the smile off his face.

He leans back a bit to watch the teams kick off the game, taking the opportunity to tug his sleeves farther down in an attempt to hide the markings a bit better. He knows she's not going to care about them but he's still not used to having them in view.

	Harry spends part of the time watching the game and part of it watching her reaction to it. Her reactions are just as interesting, if not more, and he tries to hide that he's enjoying watching her. Harry isn't really cheering for any team but messed up plays disappoint him anyway. "It could've been like a 30 yard gain! He lost a lot of cool points for sure...the whole team has been off this season."

He just leans his head against his hand in disappointment and takes some fries to comfort himself. "Do you like the fries by the way? I can never find a place that seasons them the same way..."

	Harry can't help it, he starts laughing. Not at her, but he finds her reaction oddly cute. He hadn't been watching the beginning of that play, just her. 	The guy gets some help from one of his team mates. He walks it off a bit then nods his head to indicate he's okay. "It's okay. I made plenty," Jess reassures him. 	"Okay, it just that it's hard to stop eating them." It really is, he needs to control himself. The blush stays as he also notices how close he's accidentally gotten.
