Island Life
The island was nice enough, a tropical climate. Ganthet had brought them to the beach there, and began his instruction.

"Consider, if you will, the different emotional entities, how they are paired, and from where they arise," Ganthet began.

"Rage and Love, for example, are emotions that are directed towards something. You feel love for your companion, or rage at those who have wronged you. They sit the farthest from the center of Will that is at the core of the Emotional Spectrum, because they are emotions of passion, here in one moment, gone in the next, difficult to sustain and yet able to consume one if left to flicker and burn for too long by themselves.

"Greed and Compassion, move closer to the center, and act as more intrinsic emotions. Greed is a desire for more, never satisfied with what you have, always seeking to possess and control more. Compassion is the empathy for the suffering of others, the understanding of other viewpoints and situations, feeling for them and seeking to mend them. These emotions exist more solidly, more states of being that flare-ups of passion.

"Fear and Hope just left and right of center, are different in that while those are emotions that may be felt, as the Emotional Spectrum understands them, they are emotions that can be caused in others. The Fears that claw at us in the dark, the Hope that tomorrow will be better. Those who wield the Lights of Fear and Hope are beacons of these emotions, fanning the flames of those emotions around them. They know them, and how to wield them to best effect.

"Willpower stands at the center, and stands alone. It is the ability to overcome fear, to turn hope into action. It is the ability to fight to make compassion a reality and to resist greed's temptations. It is the ability to temper the fires of rage and the passions of love with the need for clarity and reality. Though my brothers are wrong in ignoring the other Lights, they were correct when we believed that the Light of Willpower has the potential to be the strongest of them all."

He looked them over. "To know your Light is to know yourself. Think, and search within you. What about you drew your Light to you?"

Interesting responses, from all of them. The whims of the Entities, even the small fragments of them inhabiting these young Earthmen, were nearly ineffable.

Ophidian matched with a young girl who knew her sinister side and wished to tame it.

The Predator, a creature of wild lusts and passions, bonded to a girl whose love was creation.

Parallax, who fed on fear, bound to a lifeform just beginning to experience it.

Adara, to a boy bound in his cynicism.

Proselyte, to a boy already drowning in his need to make everything right.

Ion, to a girl who could well have been another one of Earth's innumerable lanterns.

And the Butcher to an Amazon who would kill the one who had first tamed it.

"He may well yet, Saishu," Ganthet said, diplomatically. "So long as his Corps directs its rage towards worthy targets, the Guardians hold an uneasy policy of ignoring him when possible. But confrontation seems inevitable."

He returned his attention to them all. "I would like for each of you to demonstrate for me, some of your abilities. Do whatever feels comfortable to you."

	Saishu doesn't hesitate. Normally she'd go for one of her knives, but she was asked to shoot, not stab or throw something - so she uses her sling instead, firing a sling bullet at her girlfriend. She doesn't power it with the red light - but with her strength and accuracy, it could be plenty dangerous anyway. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Andy nods at the idea of using the powers of Parallax, and with the support received from the teammates Andy begins to touch the deep seated Fear within...and begins to shift. It goes beyond Andys normally subtle shifting. The nanomachine body warps and shifts until what stands in the place of the unassuming being is now a huge demon, terror radiating off of it. Oddly enough, Saishu's rage filled declaration earlier made Harry jump more than the Andy demon. He could do something to deal with a demon, but angry words from a teammate were much worse. At least it was directed at some red light person and not anyone they knew.

Watching her demonstration, Harry thinks Cindy's absorbing ability is more useful than his, at least hers could extend to protect other people maybe. Well he didn't know how it worked so he shakes the thought away and gives Andy the demon a thumbs up.

	Yeah! Real cool, Andy!" Jess grins then winks at Harry. "Lets show em what you can do with a bit of a boost, Harry." And suddenly chains wrap around Harry tightly. She knows this won't hurt him. She knows her powers too and just how far she feels comfortable going. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Harry gives Jess a shy smile, not sure what she was planning until the green construct chains come to wrap around and squeeze him.

He doesn't actually do anything, there's a slight blip of an Indigo aura and the green chains just seem to sink into him and disappear. Though it's a tropical climate, he's wearing a lightweight long sleeved shirt with the sleeves rolled up, and as the green chains get absorbed, the markings which hadn't been visible until then extend and crawl down his forearms so they're very clear. After a brief glow they fade to their normal dark indigo shade.

He smiles his thanks at Jess for the boost then pauses and seems to think of something. An indigo flash and he's gone, arriving a few moments later in another flash. "You forgot this," he smiles and hands Jess her usual water bottle that had been at the HQ until a moment ago. With her boost he didn't need to worry that that would've wasted too much energy.

	Heather applauded Andy and Harry's displays. "Okay, maybe I can't do anything quite like that," she said, lifting off the ground, "but I can do this." 	Saishu lets the others do their thing, then draws her sword, focusing on all of her hatred for the founder of her technical order - and slices cleanly through a large section of rock, leaving the sides of the cut glass-like and hot enough to be still steaming. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Ganthet was more familiar with Adara than any of the other Entities, save, perhaps, for Ion. Had he not forged the Blue Power Battery along with Sayd with their Hope for the future of the universe? And yet, the strange why in which her aspect had bonded with Leonard...

It puzzled him. They all puzzled him. He truly believed they had a great destiny ahead of them, but he was beginning to believe he understood less than he had thought.

"Most impressive," he said, "all of you. You have grown into your abilities in quite a short amount of time... and you may as yet have others that you have not yet discovered."

He went on. "For now, however..."

Ganthet stopped suddenly, as though the words would not come. He looked down, and found an amber spear of energy protruding from his chest. "I..."

He looked at the New Guardians, as he sank to his knees. "Run... Run!"

	They came out of the sky, six of them, tall pink humanoids suspended in fields of energy. And with them, a variety of humanoids, pale of skin and burning with flames. "Effigies," one of the pink humanoids barked. "Capture them." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Harry stares in shock at the impaled Ganthet but Cindy's words snap him out of it. "Um uh however many are in contact with me. But uh how far? I can get back to HQ but shouldn't we stay for..." 	Fear. That deep seated fear is there, even in this huge form Andy has taken. The being that had so much power was impaled in front of them. "LEAVE LENNY ALONE!" 	Saishu is less worried about flames than most others, and feels a need to get attention off the group. She draws her off-hand blade as well, and leaps at the nearest attacker. "Save Ganthet, be ready to go! I buy time!" she calls back to the others. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
