Founders Day Parade and Celebration
The Founders Day Parade and Celebration was one of the biggest celebrations in Gotham. It was a day where the citizens of Gotham came out and showed their pride in their city. The festivities started in the morning at City Hall with a speech from the mayor and continued throughout the day. The largest parade of the year was held in the afternoon and fireworks lit up the sky in the evening. Merchants and restuarants set up kiosks on the sidewalks and the citizens shopped and ate as they watched the day's activities.

The day would also celebrate the victory of Anthony Sullivan in the mayoral race and it would be his first speech as mayor. The speech he gave was short, but had the citizens cheering by the end. The sun climbed into the sky and the parade started. Floats, marching bands and various other groups marched in the parade as it made its way through the streets of Gotham.

	Tomas is a bit late to the party, but the bat signal meant trouble in times past - and the mockery of it was in issue now. He knows he should just leave this alone... but something keeps nagging at him. As such, he's outside the factory, tearing doors off their hinges to make his way into the darkness just in time to hear a distant explosion inside. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Thankfully the costume and cowl didn't leave a lot of exposed skin so the damage form the blast is mostly to the exposed areas. Which meant her cheeks and jaw. Maria closed her eyes and the heat of the blast was intense on those exposed areas. The concussive force of the blast knocked her back down and sent the debris she had just discarded slamming back into her. She and it went sliding across the floor and her vision blurred. Her whole body hurt and now she felt as if someone had hit her in the head with a sledgehammer.

There's a muffled groan of pain as Thomas bites into his lip to prevent it from being a full out cry out. Bad enough he'd been beaten until unconscious by Jokerz, that obviously hadn't healed, and now it felt like his joints were wrenching apart. He's too busy frantically getting his left arm out and wrenching it free as soon as he can to notice the new players on the scene. And despite the pain in his torso still from all the bending, he bolts upright, leaning over his legs and relieving some of the tension. Not in his ankles or knees much, but in his hips and abdomen at least.

He has to breath through his teeth while trying to block out the searing pain in his legs now as he stretches over to work on the bonds on his lower body.

The Joker comes out from his cover, starting towards the blurry eyed Maria, looking like three of him coming at her, spotlights still flashing around the place, further adding to the chaos.

"Down already, wait... you're not him..." he starts, as he gets a closer look. The grin grows wider. "Don't tell me, he has children running all his errands now..."

The table continues to bend and twist. Were he still fully on it, Thomas would have a few broken bones. As it is, if he doesn't end up with a broken leg or snapped ankle hobbling him for a while, it will be a miracle.

The Joker's advance is halted by a door being kicked in.

"What?! Since when does Batman call for help!" he snarls. "But then... you're not Batman... who is it?!" he snaps.

	Tomas has to stop, as the darkness of the factory is replaced by a combination of smoke bombs and spotlights. He can't tell what's going on - but he can see something moving in there, and hear... machinery? He taps Iota on the shoulder, gesturing towards the sounds of gears and movement. Maria took the moment's distraction to scramble out from under the debris and pull herself to her feet. Her chest was agony and she figured she had a few broken ribs. Her face still burned and she hoped it wasn't more than a singe.

She pulled the crossbow attached to her thigh and fired a bolt at the Joker. She was pissed and wanted to see this bastard dead. Again.

Thomas is still working through the pain on getting one leg out, and almost has, when the table goes too far. There's a sickening snapping sound and popping sound that occur nearly simultaneously, as his vision blacks out from the pain for a moment and there's a muffled chocking cry of pain.

Agony didn't quite describe it at the moment, he couldn't see straight, couldn't think, couldn't get breaths out, nothing could draw his focus away from the blinding pain. One leg was snapped, pretty bad from the feel of it, and the leg he'd almost gotten out...well he hadn't gotten it out in time and the moving table had ended up wrenching his knee apart. He hadn't been fast enough. And now it was taking every bit of him just to stay conscious.

	She looks intently when Tomas gets her attention, then nods and dashes in towards the moving table thing. The lamentation blades disable a few key connections; it won't hurt the little jerk any further, at least. Then she can focus on getting him over her shoulder and picking their way out. Tomas' eyes adjust enough to what's going on to figure out, at least, who is attacking who. Iota is rescuing the captive, which puts him on rescue duty.

While he usually leaves the pure brute force tactics way back in his family's history, well, he needs range, needs to separate two people, and needs to send a message. He also just kicked in a heavy factory door - so he hefts it and flings it towards someone who looks like a terribly good Joker imitator.

Some things just aren't funny.

The Joker's enthusiasm had already dimmed when 'Batman' turned out to be another impostor. Sure, he'll revel in killing all the Bat kids to draw the real thing out - but that needs to be its own joke.

And now 'Batman' has had time to recover and shoot back, and someone else is interfering.

He taps another button, and the place turns to chaos. Explosives go off left right and center. Fireworks launch all over the place, any of them potentially deadly, and certainly painful - there's a reason large scale pyrotechnics aren't supposed to be indoor items. The toys go on the attack, with suspiciously painful small scale weapons of one sort or another, and with the pyrotechnics, the place begins filling with choking smoke. Almost as bad, booming stereos fill the place with repeated chains of Joker laughter, pumped up almost loud enough to break eardrums.

Amidst it, there's no chance whatsoever of anyone seeing where the Joker goes.

He's woozy, drugged, beaten up, in blinding pain, and with both legs useless. He's bitten through his lip while trying to hold back any sound, and the blood is running down his chin. So he doesn't see the big guy burst in amidst the chaos, and he only notices the girl from before when she's already getting his snapped leg out of the bonds. Despite all that, there's still one thing blaring in his mind. This is the Joker. And no matter what, he wasn't going to let that maniac get a hand on anyone he cared about.

So when Iota leans in to get him over her shoulder, he uses what little strength and focus he has left to pull the knife he'd been using to get out, on her. The tip of the knife is pressed against her skin where the carotid artery goes beneath and even with the mask it's clear he's somewhat delirious. But he has a goal in mind.

"Don't." He hisses the word out, teeth still clenched in pain. "Make...sure...you get...my..." Pause for a choking breath. "Colleague, out...first."

Because there was no way he was leaving Maria here to the clutches of the Joker alone.

There's no fear at having a knife pressed toward arteries she can't even spell, just annoyance as she knocks the knife away inhumanly quickly and gets back to work getting him out.
Iota hadn't seen the colleague in all the smoke and noise; she was focused where she was sent. "Skanda will get your dumb sister. No 'firsts' or it's 'after you after you' and we all die here."

	Maria was barely standing before the explosions went off, but when they hit she was bowled over from the blast. She hit the ground with a thud and felt the air whoosh out of her lungs. There was a moment's panic as she felt it almost impossible to breathe and then the blackness descended. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

In the chaos he and Ezra had lost sight of what happened and took some time to find where the Jokerz took Thomas. When Evan arrived the place was alread on fire. The suit provided some protection from fire, but it'd still be dangerous going in there. He took one of his guns and switched the ammo. Pellets filled with CO2 of Ezra's design. It wouldn't put out all the fires, but it'd make it easier to get in there.

Evan kicks in the door and starts firing to clear a path through some of the fire.

"Anybody in here!?"

Things are bad. The place is on fire, and everything is disorienting. The Joker, or the impostor more likely, is gone. Tomas considers trying to give chase, but discards the idea quickly and heads for the fallen person. He hefts the figure up, finding them a lot lighter than he'd expect Batman to be.

No time to consider that now. Hefting the figure over his shoulder, he barrels through the smoke and chaos towards the sound of the voice, figuring if someone is just breaking in, there's likely less fire that way.

Maria came to consciousness to find herself looking down at the ground. Her broken ribs screamed with pain as someone's shoulder pressed on them. Breathing was painful and difficult. She struggled to get enough air into her lungs and deep breaths caused her to cough. Blood came out with air and Maria suspected that one of her broken ribs had punctured one of her lungs.

Each step the person took was agony and Maria moved to lift herself off of his shoulder. Pain spiked and she clenched her jaw against it.

	Tomas barrels through a couple of burning interior walls, shielding the person over one shoulder, trying to get clear. As soon as they're out of the worst of it, he heads for one of the doorways so he can get somewhere he can set the person down, and start getting some of thw worst of the restrictive clothing off to help them breathe and so he can check injuries.
