To the rescue
Their heads clearer than they had been before, Iris and her remaining Titans were teleported by Ty in front of Keystone's Golden Ridge Plaza.

"I don't think the Raiderettes have gone anywhere...seeing as we didn't exactly scare them off last time," she said. "But we're ready for them now. We just need to divide and conquer. Get them against each other, and we've got this fight in the bag." She turned to Ruth. "And we'll get back Jayhawk, too."

This required a battle cry to get them in the mood....

"Titans Together!"

Iris sped off in the direction of the mall, to where she heard the giggles of the Raiderettes.

While it wasn't exactly true, it was just problems with Daddy, it was close enough. "It's been tough at times, but it helps to have really good friends to help. Do your friends help you?" 	"Yeah, I know what it's like. My dad and I argue a lot. We're a lot alike, or so my mom says. My last birthday was a disaster." Cait nodded in understanding. "Yeah. The Titans were nice to take me and Ty in. We had nowhere else to go after our small apartment was destroyed." Cait smiled. "They're my family now and I couldn't have asked for a better one." 	"They took you in? That's...pretty cool of them to do." Mitzi says. She's not sure if the other girls would do something like that for her. She likes to hope they will, but she can't be sure. Mitzi had been prepared to knock this girl's block off the first chance she got, but meeting someone who had the same issues she did was showing her that she wasn't the only girl with her own insecurities. She takes a moment and a deep breath.

"Why do you do it? I mean, why go to the trouble of helping people when you don't get paid for it? I mean, you get to deal with people like...me. People who don't take kindly to being told what to do by people with power.

I thought all you hero types had perfect lives and nothing better to do than screw with people trying to get by, but...maybe I was wrong." Mitzi admits.

"To be honest, I never wanted to be a hero, I still don't, but I keep getting dragged into it. When people need help I can't just stand by. I have to do something about it. So I guess I do it to keep others from getting hurt. The ones who can't do something about it for themselves."

Cait snorted.

"Please. Our lives are just as messed up as everyone else's. Some more than others. Mine's pretty messed up, but doing the hero thing does give me something to focus on and it feels good knowing you did something good for someone else."

Mitzi mulls over Cait's answer. It's not corny, like she thought it would be, and she can tell that Cait means what she's saying.

"You're lucky. Most people don't get what you have. I had to make friends with the most popular girls in school, or I'd get picked on. So I did what I had to to fit in. And I do dumber things to stay with the 'in' crowd." Mitzi says.

"Now, I'm about to get my face pounded in by a girl who throw water. You...are actually kind of cool. Maybe if we'd met another time, we...never mind. If you're going to kick my ass, let's do it." Mitzi says, though she isn't committed to the idea of a fight.

She doesn't even activate her jewelry.

"At least you had friends and went to school. I didn't have many friends when I was younger. There weren't many kids in the...um...palace. We had servants, but they weren't friends. Cerdian was my only friend until I came to the surface."

"I'm sorry. Did you say palace? And servants? Wow. I'm talking to a princess. This is wild." Mitzi says, as if she can't believe the situation. How could an actual princess be unhappy with her life?

"I don't have many real friends. Mandy is cool, and Pippi can be when she's not being a total ditz. But if I'm not friends with them, then I don't have any friends. And then I'm just another poor girl." Mitzi says.

"I don't want to fight you, either. I thought I did, but...it just seems stupid to do after this." she says.

"My dad is Aquaman," she admitted. "I grew up in Atlantis, but being a princess isn't all that it's cracked up to be. But it doesn't matter now. I've been banished from Atlantis, which is why I'm with the Titans."

"I only have the Titans." Cait was quiet for a moment. "I wouldn't mind being your friend, if you know you didn't commit any more crimes."

Cait nodded in agreement. "It does."

"Aquaman? Seriously? He's pretty awesome." Mitzi says. She frowned a little when Cait mentioned being banished from Atlantis.

"That sucks. I'm sure my mom would banish me from home if she could." Mitzi chuckled.

Cait's offer of being her friends was enticing. What would it be like to have a friend that she had something in common with? Someone she didn't have to be fake to impress? She'd have to stop stealing things, though. Was it worth having nice things if no one cared that you had them?

"Maybe we can try this out." Mitzi says. "Who knows? We might actually even like each other, Aquagirl. That is your name, right?"
