To the rescue
Their heads clearer than they had been before, Iris and her remaining Titans were teleported by Ty in front of Keystone's Golden Ridge Plaza.

"I don't think the Raiderettes have gone anywhere...seeing as we didn't exactly scare them off last time," she said. "But we're ready for them now. We just need to divide and conquer. Get them against each other, and we've got this fight in the bag." She turned to Ruth. "And we'll get back Jayhawk, too."

This required a battle cry to get them in the mood....

"Titans Together!"

Iris sped off in the direction of the mall, to where she heard the giggles of the Raiderettes.

"Ok, the Master Chief thing might be an improvement. Luigi games... weird. So what kind of games do you usually play?" he asks, walking towards the video game store as he chats.

"From what I've seen of this dimension's Halo series, it's pretty much the same," Tim remarks. "Just different banter. And I said the same about Mario games," he chuckles. "I play the fighters, shooters, and RPGs even if Impulse makes fun of me for 'em. What about you?"

"Whatever's at the arcade or bowling alley mostly. Got no video game system - can't afford one, and Ruth's dad doesn't approve of them. Some friends have a system with a bunch of fighters though."

Tim gives Jay a look like he just sprouted a second head. "Doesn't...approve...? I'm sorry, that concept does not make sense to me. Not allowing a teenage boy contact with video game is like not giving a dog a tennis ball to chase and chew on," he says. "Well, the Titans have some systems from what I saw. Could play those if you're with them," he remarks. "So what's the best fighter in this dimension?"

Jay shrugs. "He's a minister, and just thinks they're too violent. I think the cheerleaders said they have some games. We didn't spend a lot of time talking. And, hrm, I'm a fan of Samurai Showdown - one good hit and its over, so you really have to be paying attention."

Tim just shakes his head. "Man..." he trails off. When the cheerleaders are mentioned again, the partial Kryptonian rolls his eyes. "Games they stole most likely," he points out. "Samurai Showdown? Don't think I've heard of that one before."

Jay heads into the shop, and heads for the used games, finding what he's looking for and offering the box over. "Its an older game, but its still a good one. Its not all about combos and lots of hits - you get hit in the leg once, you're crippled, hit in the arm, you're fighting one handed. Good hit to the torso or head and you're dead. Got to mind your tactics and position and use the territory."

Tim follows Jay in and over to the bin, skimming over a few titles. He makes a face at some of them, muttering something about the weirdness of the dimension. When the box is offered over, Tim accepts it and looks it over while listening to Jay. "Huh...sounds pretty cool. Like something my mom or uncle might really like."

"I've always liked it, anyway, but then maybe its just making me think more in tactics than button mashing. Kinda like playing football, got to go in with a plan and be aware what's going on, you know? You're probably right on the Titans - maybe they have a copy there."

Tim nods, thinking about football. "Yeah...tactics are important. Robin drilled it into all our heads all the time," he chuckles. "I'll gladly take ya on sometime when we get back to the Tower."

"Sounds like a plan, when we get back to the tower." That much, at least, hasn't changed. Sure, he's in love - but they're doing girl stuff. Its easier to talk about video games and football where there's no conflict. All that is still in the plans no matter who his girlfriend is.

"We ought to try their demos first, anyway. And I doubt heading back til the girls work out their issues is a good idea, right? But looks like they have some of the new games on demo over there. And no... no flying. Jumping real far, sure, run really fast, sure."

Tim nods, looking around when the demos are mentioned. "Yeah, lets get some play in here," he agrees. "And I dunno. They might be here for a long while," he shrugs. "Huh. That's gotta suck...being stuck ground bound like that."

"Uhm... most people can't fly. I couldn't before I got my powers. If you can, makes you a small minority, it doesn't make things suck for the rest of us." he replies, setting himself up on controller one of the latest fighter demo.

"Right, but just a hint from someone who has been a super hero for almost no time at all, has never been around super heroes until the past few days, and never planned to be - and until now, was pretty jazzed by having super strength, combat sense and super speed... telling people their powers are kind of disappointing because they can't fly isn't going to make you any friends." he replies, though still with a small smile, focused mostly on the game controller.

Tim just blinks. "Totally didn't mean to offend, Bro," he says. "Just uh...yeah...sorry," he says, frowning a little. Shaking it off, he focuses on the controller. "Man...still getting used to the controllers being different here too."

Re: Tim and Jay

"No worries, I'm hard to offend. Just giving you some advice for the future - most people aren't Superman's grandson. They don't grow up among super heroes or fly or anything. As for the controller, try holding it like this... you'll get a quicker reaction time. And those buttons are pretty sensitive, you can just rapid tap them instead of needing to press so hard. I'm guessing that's how controllers work in your world?"

Re: Tim and Jay
[info]superpowerboy

Tim nods and alters how he's holding the controller. "Depends on the system actually. That bulky behemoth from LexCorp was a pain. But the system Kord put out...man that ws great. Motion sensitive," he chuckles.

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Re: Tim and Jay
[info]rockchalk
2010-06-23 06:31 pm UTC (link)
Jay nods. "Yeah, Kord is kind of lagging behind some here, but the LexBox stuff is the really streamlined system. Jesse Chambers' company is the main competitor now for LexCorp entertainment's video games division. But no one has made controllers motion sensitive yet. Sounds like you guys may be a bit ahead of us in tech, though your Luthor sounds a lot more insane... here, the guy is pretty efficient."
