25 July: It's My Party
Four different kinds of gourmet Macaroni and Cheese. Stacks upon stacks of different finger sandwiches, with the yards worth of crusts used to make a couple of heated trays of bread pudding. A pineapple-banana-pecan cake possibly bigger than the birthday girl herself. A small table of vegan stuff, just in case.

Cindy couldn't stop grinning at it. Had she found awesome caterers or what?

The band specialized in swing covers of hard rock songs, but could play just about anything. There was a dance floor. All her friends from school were there, dressed to the eights.

Of course, all Cindy's friends from school didn't really fill up the little reception hall. And she certainly didn't have a big family. But that was okay, more room for her ~~soon-to-be-colleagues~~ fellow super-brats.

And so she scurried, from arrival to arrival, for cheerful welcomes.

"Clothes are a bit more difficult, but we can bring some stuff for you to wear," Dinadan says. "It's a bit too hot and muggy down there for anything else -- bikini weather all the time, pretty much."

He thinks for a moment. "I guess you shouldn't bring anything that you wouldn't bring camping with you? We've got all of the really important things covered, but it's kind of like a "get away from the world" camp, if that makes sense."

	Petra cringes slightly at the mention of hot and muggy. "I'd just as soon spend the whole trip naked if that's the case, but I'm sure we'll find something polite but tolerable. Don't be surprised if I stay inside at the peak of the day's heat. I'll be lounging in ice cubes a few times a day probably." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Dinadan takes a moment to tuck the mental image of naked Petra lounging on top of an ice bed somewhere that isn't the inside of his eyelids. Petra's flirting has possibly gotten him a little too well-trained.

"I'm sure we can find you some place in one of the underground areas of the castle, where it's cooler," he says. "And some people do stay inside during the hottest parts of the day, so you wouldn't be alone in that."

	"You're sweet. Y'know that?" She kisses his cheek, moving a hand behind him to run her fingers through his hair. "But yeah. I don't do heat. Go fig, right?" Petra shrugs. 	Dinadan flushes a little and returns the cheek-kiss. "Well, I don't do cold very well, so I guess we'll have to meet in the middle." He has noticed. It's a little flattering, really. How many girls are willing to undergo a handful of scientific experiments that may or may not result in something exploding in order to get to know a guy better and meet his parents? 	"I can always wear layers," Dinadan says. "That's what I usually do. Layers mean extra pockets to keep stuff in." Which is quite handy. And practical! (Reply to this)(Parent)
