Generation Hexed
Three years ago, Xarus Tepes, son and slayer of Dracula, united the warring vampire sects under a new banner. They followed his new vision for the future, a future of vampires empowered in a fashion the world had never seen. A melding of vampire and mutant blood, ushered in through fire and blood. In another world, he might have only sent forth one suicide bomber, in San Fransisco, but in this one, he sent many. Overnight, across the United States, the ranks of the vampire nation swelled, bringing mutants and other superhumans into the fold. Some resisted their new natures, many did not. With the aid of the X-Men, Dracula eventually was restored and then resumed control of the vampire nations and restored order, but the swell in the ranks represented a fundamental shift in power amongst the supernatural community. Almost overnight, other camps began responding. Otherworld tested its pact with the British Isles, soliciting humans to serve as scions of fey magic. Tribes of lycanthropes went on offensive strikes into isolated communities to spread their own condition. Things that lurked in dark places offered more power in exchange for fewer souls.

Now, the world has a new face. Fields of wild magic dotted across the globe render technology moot within their territory, and magic is nearly commonplace. Sentinels and Hulkbusters were repurposed and reshaped into magic-powered golems and armors of hideous might. The world has become the stuff of the Brothers' tales, before Disney and modern media got hold of them. Cities run the gamut from overgrown by restored wilderness, to reshaped into gleaming spires of otherworldly beauty, to ruins.

Where and when the Exiles arrive, it is night by all appearances, but there are no stars, and what appears to be the moon high above is featureless and pristine. By all appearances, they are in what was once a suburban neighborhood, but the homes now are either falling apart, or fortified and bearing runes and hex marks across their structures. Swathes of thornbushes have replaced flower-beds and lawns, and spikes of iron ring some of the properties, seemingly the remains of automobiles, torn apart by bare hands and claws.

	Well that had certain hug had certainly taken Casey off guard. "Hm did I party with you at NUI Galway or something," Casey asks the guy hugging him. There were a lot of nights there he did not remember so that could explain it. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Quinn was about to start listing off all of the adventures they had together, but then it dawned on him that this wasn't the Case hey knew. This was a different one from a different world. 	"You like beer?" A tinny voice pipes up from a tree overhead. "I can help you find beer, but candy is much better..." A tiny creature, winged and blue-skinned, flits down. It appears to be carrying a lollypop strapped across its back. "Will you play with us if I find you beer?" It grins wide, showing what would seem like too many teeth for such a tiny mouth. Sarah doesn't trust this at all, but at least there might be some upside to this world, if they're careful.

"If there's beer to be had here, maybe later. For the new people, S.O.P. here is usually - fliers do quiet recon, find a place to bed down. Others get newspapers if the world has them. Usually the best way to quickly figure out a couple public figures, big issues, date... not everywhere has them, and a couple have been just propaganda pieces, but useful often enough. Then food and water, and figuring out if we can show up in restaurants or if we're foraging and raiding for it. Here... we might have a head start."

She finally turns to the faerie thing. "There's other things we need first. Somewhere to rest." Quinn is hurt, or at least exhausted, and she's not doing so great herself, but she does her best not to let on. "Someone who can give us information on this place... city, region, whatever. We might be able to manage something in trade."

That thing has way too many teeth for Dory to be happy making nice with it, especially with the weird moon and the ruins around them. For all they know, it could be a little bitty demon.

It takes him a bit of concentration to shift his eyesight to compensate for the light here -- it looks wrong somehow when he uses his usual night-vision, but he wants to make sure there's nothing else lurking in the gloom around them.

This is where she has to make a decision, based on all too little information.

"We're new here." she says to the faerie. "Let us get our bearings, and then we'll meet with some of the locals if someone isn't hostile."

The Tallus' warning suggested this was one of those where they needed to ally with someone. She doesn't like the faerie, but its not attacking at least.

"Among everything else, find somewhere for us to fall back to, if this goes wrong. But I think the Tallus' message suggests, to me, anyway, we might need to figure out who is fighting here and why. Its very 'hang together or hang separately'."

"And we're not paleskins nor furskins, right? Maybe no one comes here, but we have, obviously. We need to talk to someone who can tell us more about this place." In a way that'll make rational sense, but she doesn't mention that.

"I think we might have a couple of factions of... something. Not sure. Guessing, from the message, that they're not happy with each other."

There's a rush of air and a rustling of branches over head as a group of... things, arrive.

"The bugs got here first. The preening Mystikos dogs will pay nothing for scraps." The voices are screechy and the words roughly shaped, as if human tongues were not what their mouths were constructed for.

"No matter. They're easy enough to buy, just watch." A fluttering of leathery wings and a high pitched screech rip down the street. "Glitterwings! A cart of honey and bread for the flight that brings these intruders low!"

At first, silence, then every bush and tree up and down the street hums and squeals, as a veritable cloud of fairies spring forth, claws and fangs ready. They swarm the Exiles.

Dory swears, though at least he has the presence of mind to do it in English this time. If he gets ripped apart by fairies, Tommy will find out and he will never let him live it down.

He sprouts a pair of wings of his own -- big, leathery bat-like wings, as he usually prefers -- and wraps them around himself to shelter from the attack. He reaches out and pulls Gwenny under as well, leaving a gap for her to use her powers through.

The fairies screech, laugh, and wail under the variety of responses, a mixture of fear, excitement, and delight. They're scattered, but there are so many of them.

"The stone is a lie! It is enchanted metal!" The ones being blown back by Mjolnir cry out. They're blown towards Casey. Those who aren't still attacking him are mimicking his backflips.

"Ooh! Look at the new wings! Can we touch them? They look so smooth and tasty!" Two dozen crawl all over Dory's wings, some caressing them, some biting at them.

Pumpkin bombs and magical blasts seem to work just fine, smacking the fairies to and fro. Some retreat, but the swarms are still coming.

	"Too many of them. Unless someone has a better idea quick, I'm going to step it up to get us some room, so... speak now, or hang on to something!" The last, because precision is not her strong point. And reigning it back in is going to be hard - but if they need a big windstorm, she can just let the hammer go all out.
