I've been through the desert...
One moment she felt her lips on Anya's. It was a dream and nightmare come true, each in their own ways. The Talus sent a jolt up her arm, and suddenly instead of everything she'd gotten so used to, and the feel of her best friend and crush next to her, she felt warm wind, and a bright light made her shield her eyes against a scorching sun.

She knew right where she was. Back in the desert where everything had gone so horribly wrong. Even as alike as most deserts ended up, she somehow just knew.

Sarah sinks into the sand, drawing her knees up to her chest and settling her head on her knees, trying to collect her thoughts, trying hard not to cry, trying to be pulled together when someone else showed up.

The Timebroker can wait.

"Doc Spectrum? Good to see you again." He offers a hand; he's at least closer to Joe's age. He pauses. "Or... maybe you're not the same Spectrum I've met."

"Irondragon. Call me Rose," Rose offers seeing as they're doing the whole meet and greet.

She doesn't think she's that young. But she at least is experienced in the business to some degree.

"So I guess Sarah is going to be our team leader here? I mean she is a Rogers. That counts for something." But Blink is also experienced here so Rose will totally listen to them both.

"Sarah Rogers. And I'm not going to presume anything. I've led one team, sure... I like to think my father taught me well, but a lot of people have more experience, and the last Exiles team... no one really led. And having the Talus doesn't necessarily mean anything beyond being the one who gets the first listen-in on what the mission is. If this group gets along better, and wants to be trying to figure out leadership and tactics this early, I'll be happy to do what I can, as leader or helping whoever the consensus is. My first goal, though, is getting everyone used to the routine and alive, first."

"I'm Blink. I'd feel better being leader but I have to warn you that the Exiles I was in- we had to fix a timeline with another team. We had to kill a small boy. Everyone on my team but me was killed when we refused to kill him." It was only fair to level with them. "If you'd rather have someone else because of that I understand." And they might even be right too.

"Honesty is good," Bucky says. "And I think Sarah's right -- our last team did well without a set leader."

Quinn nodded. "I'm with this bloke," he said and nodded toward Patriot. "We go without a leader for now."

"We seem to have more team players than our last assemblage did. Once we all get to know each other, and have gotten used to each other in the field, then maybe we should revisit this. Having some command structure isn't bad. Right now, we don't know each other though, which can lead to regretting hasty decisions. For what its worth though, Blink, I'd have to say I think I'd do the same thing, and hope that your refusal there will mean we don't get that kind of mission."

"I'm good with whatever," Joe said with a shrug. "Hyperion was the Squadron's de-facto leader, but it was pretty democratic too."

And he shook his head to Patriot's comment. "'fraid I've never met any of you before." Though he admitted the man did remind him slightly of Captain America.
