Death and Destruction
It was a small planet orbiting a gas giant in Shi'ar controlled space. The small chunk of rock didn't have any remarkable features on it and it held no resources to be utilized. It was rather insignificant as planets went, but it had been the site of a significant battle in the fate of the universe.

Dead bodies littered the ground and a silver surf board was stuck point down in the ground. Smoke billowed from wrecked space craft and blood, human and alien alike, seeped into the fine dirt covering the surface of the planet. It seemed unfitting for this barren place to be the final resting place of some of the finest heroes in the universe.

There was a flash of light.

	Natasha was disoriented for a moment, but she eventually got her bearings. She stared at the bodies and behind her helmet her mouth was hanging open. "My God," she said in shock. She recognized some of the bodies. Avengers. Or they had been in her world. While she never became an Avenger, she had met them on a few occasions. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13," Kev mutters, trying to keep himself down. "You must be Sarah. We're new. I'm Kevin Kinross. I don't recognize anything, but, well, we're in space and....that Thanos guy, this'd be Valentine's Day for him, wouldn't it?" Sarah finally notices the new company amidst the horrors of the field, as well as some people missing. She also notices Danielle - familiar, certainly, along with no Rose, no Joe and no Quinn.

She sighs. This doesn't get any easier. "I am Sarah, yes, Sarah Rogers. The Tallus is also giving me a lot of positive reinforcement at you mentioning Thanos, Mr. Kinross. Ok, so does anyone recognize anything like this related to Thanos? Not familiar to me."

	Patriot is silent a long moment, his eyes closed in respect for the dead. Finally, he gets to his feet and opens his eyes. "The Infinity War," Patriot breathes quietly. He gives Kevin a nod of acknowledgment, but this isn't the time for introductions. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Natasha spotted a familiar armored figure lying on the ground. She walked over to it and removed the helmet. Tears welled up in her eyes and she removed her helmet to wipe the tears away. Were all Tony Starks doomed to die? (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Her Dad is among the dead, Thor is in pieces, turned to glass, Mjolnir and all, so many dead. But she manages to keep her stomach, and her composure - none of these others went through the vampire world, and its given her some perspective on just what kind of hell worlds they can be dumped into.

"Give me the background on the Infinity War. The Tallus is agreeing that that's what we're in the middle of. Then we need the rundown on our new companions... I'm sorry people, but if Thanos took out the Avengers, we need to mourn later. If we're not on our A game now, we could be next."

Kev frowned, trying to remember; it wasn't a Family Story. "There were jewels, right? Six jewels that could make someone into God? Thanos got them, but the other fancy space types took them away? Something like that."

"My A game's nothing," he warns. "I'm a medic-slash-physicist" slash programmer slash mathematician slash monster. Ex-monster. "No superpowers." Not anymore. Thank anything passing for God.

Patriot looks at the assembled heroes.

"The Avengers of this world have given their lives for this place. We can help them best by making sure their sacrifice isn't wasted... to make sure that someone's around to give them their rites." He puts a reassuring hand on Dani's shoulder. "We need to honor them... by doing the best we can."

He looks to Sarah. "What she said is just about the gist of the jewels," he notes, gesturing to Natasha.

Yes, he recognizes Tasha among the newcomers, just through her stance alone. He can't process her presence right now, not in these surroundings. He knows she doesn't know him, and as much as he wants to lean on her right now, he knows that wouldn't be fair to her -- or anyone else around here right now.

"Much as I hate to say it, folks, he's right. I don't think any of us is a priest... but we can make sure they're laid to rest properly. But right now, the person who killed them is loose. We have no idea of the status of the gems... but the situation can't be hopeless or over, or we wouldn't be here. I know most of you aren't used to working as a part of this team, anyway - but its obvious we're not going to get a lot of chance to take it easy on this one."

She sighs. Why can't this ever be easy? "I've been to worlds where most of these people and others are dead... or enemies. It never gets easier, and for the newcomers, I'm sorry you need to be part of this."

She's about to say more, try and get some assessment of these people, when a shadow falls over the area, then another, and another.

"We have company. Heads up."
