Meddling Mothers
Sersi returned home from an extended trip abroad. Humans were so entertaining and so full of passion. Eternals were a different story. Frustrating was the word that came to mind. Specifically one Eternal who happened to be her daughter.

Sersi didn't get it. The girl was crazy about the mortal and Jack was such a dear boy. He'd do any mother proud and was just the type of guy any mother would want dating her daughter. So why hadn't the girl moved in with him already? What was she waiting for?

Mortals had such short lives and there was no point wasting time waiting around for things. The kid should have just moved in with him already. School was finished and there was nothing keeping Kalypso home. It was time for Sersi to take matters into her own hands and resolve the situation.

Movers were easy to hire and in no time her daughter's things were moved over to Jack's place. This was done while they weren't around of course. Sersi didn't want to have to deal with the arguments that would have happened. It was much easier this way.

At the moment Sersi was feeling quite pleased and satisfied with herself.

Since you can't kill an Eternal, and Jack knew Kal didn't mean it, there had to be another way around Sersi. The Eternal's enthusiasm was not exactly what he was used to from a mom. She was doing everything but putting a bow on Kal and giving her to him for his birthday.

He mulled it over through the few minutes he had before Kal arrived, stretched out on the sofa in the cool dark of the apartment. He'd started keeping the place dark as much as possible to minimize the sensory input. It was time to think about having his sensory deprivation tank shipped out from California.

Kalypso landed outside the building and ran the few flights up to his apartment. She knocked lightly on the door.

Did he leave it unlocked? No, it was a knee jerk reaction to lock it.

He rose from the sofa and went to the door. "If you're moving in, you need to start using your key," he told her with just a hint of a smile.

"I'm not moving in despite what my mother thinks," she said and then greeted him with a kiss.

Kisses were good. He had a second and third because he loved the taste of her mouth.

"We should feel lucky she didn't decide my place was too small and moved us both somewhere else."

Kisses were definitely good. She loved kissing him. "Don't say that too loudly. We joked about her moving me in, remember?"

"Eternals read minds?" He shut the door behind her and waved a hand at her boxes. "Tell me again how clothes don't count as stuff?"

"We can," she admitted. "We are a race of many talents." She levitated the boxes to one side of the apartment. "They're clothes. Not stuff."

"Then I'm glad Sersi didn't hang me from my toes from the bridge for all the things I was thinking." He watched the boxes move and neatly stack themselves along the side. My Supergirl-friend. "I have an idea that might stall her for awhile until she finds something else to get her attention."

"Oh? You know a guy to throw her at her that may serve as a distraction for awhile?" Totally not kidding.

"Not really. Unless you want to consider Eliza's other brother Misha, and something tells me his mother won't like that."

He got another drink from the fridge and offered her one. "Let's give her an alternate plan with a firm date."

A giggle escaped her. "Probably not, but the thought is amusing."

"Thank you," she said as she accepted the drink and thought about what he said. "You mean a firm date for me to move in with you?"

She was quite fond of Jack, perhaps loved him, but she knew she wasn't ready to live with him yet. She was barely out of high school and just starting her life, even though it would be a very long one.

"A firm date for us to decide if that's what we want," he clarified. "Say, six months from now. We'll decide then. It'll give her time to find something, or someone to distract her. And just so she'll know we're thinking about it, you can spend all the time you want here."

Kalypso smiled. "I like the sound of that. A lot. And I think it may just work."

He smiled back, relieved. It could've backfired on him, but it was just one more reason why they got along so well. "If she knows we really are paying attention to the future and arranging it for ourselves, she doesn't have to take matters in her own hands."

"And," he continued, "if we decide to move in, we'll have time to look for a bigger place, because clothes do count as stuff."

"Here's to hoping," she said. "No they don't. Clothes are a necessity. Stuff isn't."

"Speaking of clothes, you said something about changing before we go out. Did you need some help with the buttons?"

Kal smiled and her eyes gleamed. "I don't think I can manage all these buttons on my own."

Jack reached out to slip a finger over the neckline of her blouse and slide it down to the first button. "I used to be a boy scout, you know. Ready and willing to help wherever I can."

Kal chuckled and kissed him. He could always make her smile and laugh. It was one of the things she loved about him.

He was happy to be entertaining. He considered himself very lucky to have found somebody like Kal.

He unfastened the first button, kissed her, and went to the second. "How about you take a drawer or two and keep some stuff here?"

"Clothes aren't stuff," she reiterated. "But I would like that. It would make life easier the nights you won't let me out of your bed."

He chuckled. "You mean when you won't let me let you out of bed," he countered. A third button followed.
