Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

"I've been known to laugh and smile in public." She watched his fingers touch hers, finding comfort in the simple human touch. She couldn't remember the last time she touched anybody before the last few days. It had been something she avoided as much as she could manage. "You didn't exactly meet me at a good time in my life. That might have colored your opinion of me a little."

"Get a few drinks in you and you start propositioning unsuspecting women." She turned his hand over to rest palm up on the table. He had good hands. She'd known that when she watched him break down her favorite Glock.

She traced the seam between the fore and middle fingers. His hands were callused, satisfying an inherited expectation that dictated a man with soft hands had a soft head to match. "I promise I'll think about it. I don't actually sleep much as it is."

"Ah am sorry to hear that, Fury, but Ah can understand it in a way." Tech smiles. He visibly relaxes as she traces the seam of his hand. It's a nice feeling.

Eventually, he will study her hands and note that they've become well-adjusted to holding weapons. He will kiss each fingertip gently, followed by the palm of her hand, then provide the same treatment to the other.

After a bit of this, he'll let her hands go, and begin to clear the dishes from the table, unless she is still eating.

	Tech laughed out loud at the mention of corn weevils. The idea of such was so preposterous that he damn near fell over. He ignored the tweak of his ribs as he laughed, utterly amused. "Well, now Ah know what Ah'll be buildin' into every gun Ah make you from now on. So, just in case you get lost, you find your way back to a place that makes sense." he smiles. He thinks about heading off to bed now and having to remove his bandages. That's.going to be a pain in the...well, ribs.

He considers it for a moment, then looks at Sam.

"Um, Ah hate to trouble you with this just now, but could you help me with mah bandages? Sleepin' with 'em is a pain, but Ah need to get 'em off so Ah can shower, at least." he says.

Tech will follow her the stairs, though his room is further down the hall. It would be easier for her to help with his bandages and retire.for the night if she wanted. He reminded himself to put a TV in her room, at some point.

"Yep. The TiVo in my room is connect to the one in Gran's room, and the one at Jessica's house. That took some real work, but now we all share." he says, a note of pride in his voice.

	There it was again, that flash of genius and passion when he talked about things he'd created or enhanced. It was a marvel to watch. "For me it's usual a movie that I either study through or fall asleep until the ending credits. I have quite a collection of dvds. Do I get a look at those dancing trophies now?' Tech turned a little red at the mention of the trophies, but his smile.was just as bright.

"Sure you can." he says happily. He'll escort her down the hallway and open the door on the left, showing her the Trophy Room.

Once the light comes on, Tech points at the left side of the room, which is adorned with medals and trophies in various shapes and sizes.

"Those are from Gran's dancin' days. She traveled all over the country to compete." he says, then indicates far right corner.

Here, a pair of football cleats, a pair of wrestling shoes, and a few smaller trophies and medals sit.

"Those are Jake's." he says simply.

The center wall of the room has a mantle filled with trophies, photos and news clippings discussing several dancing contests, meets and events over the previous eight years. Sam will see picutres of a much younger Tech, wearing pin-striped or double-breasted zoot-suits. All of the trophies are first and second place wins.

"And his grandmother taught him well." Tech says quietly.
