Checking on the home team
Commander Fontaine, Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., made the rounds when the special ops team came back in. After their last disastrous outing, she wanted to make sure they were still in one cohesive piece. The reports had been favorable.

She hadn't met the newest member yet, though she knew the contents of his file. She'd been the one to have it sent to Sammy for consideration. Her little gun nut, and Walker and Dugan, could always use someone with the ability to build a better gun.

Sammy's report had been terse but informative. The others' a little more informative. Landon was next on her list.

"Just working out what I'll say if we're asked about them. They handed you to me on a silver platter. I'm not giving you back because you turned out to be more than they expected."

That sounded territorial even to her own ears. Whether it was having her own corner of SHIELD to protect or what, she didn't apologize for the tone. "I expect you have a shopping list for me?"

But you definitely want me alert to make all the wonderful guns that you'll use." he informs her. "So, second on the list..." and Jason started to name off the things he'd need. 	"That won't be the only time I'll want you alert," she murmured and began taking down the list. Some things she'd never heard of and had to go with a phonetic spellings. Others made her pause before she listed them. "Is the space you're using now for a lab big enough for this stuff?" she asked when he paused to take a drink of his tea. "Yes, you have, but you have not mentioned if there will be Sammy-space in this lab, which I think there should be. For those just joining us, 'Sammy-Space' is space where a Sammy belongs in the lab and can watch as things, mainly guns, are put together for her to test out." Jason explains.

"Of course, Sammys are also expected to offer input on what the guns should have, but I warn you now: a gun with a coffee-maker attached is still a long way away. I'm a genius, not a miracle worker." Jason says, continuing to drive.

"You're putting a lot of faith on your will and genius, Mad Scientist." She put the PDA down and took his hand. It was a good feeling, one she was going to enjoy for as long as it lasted. If he decided that the name and the baggage she carried with her was too much to handle, she'd still have these few days with a nice guy.

"Just in case you forget while you're building a better tea maker, I'll put those liberal applications on your calendar."

"My will and genius have served me well. In fact, they got a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent into bed with me, so I'm gonna keep puttin' my faith in 'em until they fail me." Jason teases.

"Oh, before you say it, my ribs helped, too." he grins as she takes his hand. He liked the idea of being more than friends with Sammy; he just hoped that between her issues and his family, that they'd actually have a chance to work things out.

"Hey, good idea. If you set the time and place, I'll know when you're available and bring you coffee-flavored candy. Maybe even some special coffee to keep you awake for those times." he says.

Jason shakes his head. "It's not too much."

He doesn't feel it's enough, personally, but he will take whatever he can get. They were doing this on her time and within her comfort-level. He would need to make the most of that hour whenever he had it.

"So, for that hour, do you want to play a board game or something? I'd like to see how many guns you spell out in Scrabble, for instance. I've been curious since the idea came to mind a couple of days ago." he grins.

"Or Battleship. I don't think you can sink my battleship." he taunts.
