A Strange Quest
Quinn had been thinking about the leprechaun incident and had a feeling it wouldn't be the last time he saw the little annoy creatures. Quinn's magic hadn't been effective and he had to know what to do the next time they came around. Maybe there was a spell or something that would work against them and their magic.

Quinn had to go to the one person who would know about this kind of stuff.

He teleported to 177A Bleecker Street in New York only to find it empty. He wondered where Dr. Strange was.

There was one person who may know. Quinn teleported out to the West Coast and arrived at the front gate of the Defenders.

	"Speaking of demons..." Matt says, lowering his voice. "I saw something earlier when I looked at your that kind of made me wonder." Matt says. He found it odd that Whisper didn't seem to have the same reaction to Marlow that he'd had to the demon in red. "What's going on with you? Do you need help?" he asks, looking Marlow in the eyes. 	Marlow looked back, curious and openly meeting his eyes. "I meant to contact you about meeting the mentor you suggested, but this kind of came up instead. I still hope to meet him." She smiled and scratched Whisper's ears again. The hellhound was warm and heavy leaning against her leg. "What did you see earlier? Something the council should be concerned about?" 	"Ian's ready to talk whenever you are, Marlow. I vouched for you with him, so you're good to go and talk to him whenever. He runs a shop called the Cornerstone on Creation in New York. The emphasis on /you/ was puzzling. "I haven't been having issues with demons. Sure, they show up from time to time, but only Dormammu and Balor were problematic and you see what the result was. We're missing our Sorcerer Supreme. What issues do you think I'm having?"

Her eyes widened when a thought struck her. "I don't know what you've heard or how you heard it in Chicago, but Titan is not a demon and he's not a problem."

	Oh boy. "Marlow...I'm not trying to be rude, but I can see it if I Look at you. It's not a strong hold, but it's there. Are you sure Dr. Strange and Clea are aware of it? When was the last time you saw either of them before all of this went down?" Matt asks. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"I saw Dr. Strange when he disappeared with Dormammu, and Clea before I came to this dimension from the Dark Dimension. Nothing has happened to me. I've been in the company of another sorceress for nearly the entire time. She didn't see anything wrong with me. Quinn doesn't and he's an apprentice too." She was getting agitated and couldn't help it. Matt accusing her of being demon ridden was disrupted everything she knew to be true about her life.

"You said Whisper didn't like demons. He doesn't like that girl. He's fine with me."

Damn. He knew he should have Looked at her the day they met. It would have given him a point of reference to go from. He wanted to make sure she was okay, but he didn't know how to do it without upsetting her more.

She also had a point. Whisper didn't like...that creature under the hood, but he couldn't get enough of Marlow. Why was that?

And then something comes to mind.

"Marlow...you said to me, the last time we spoke, that magic had become easier for you, right? You looked completely different when we met, and now you have a new form. You're far more powerful than when we met, and you were pretty tough even then." Matt says, a train of thought forming in his head.

The demon he could see barely had a hold on her now. If she'd gone through all of these changes since the first few times they'd spoken...did that mean the demon was losing it's hold over her?

God, what happens if it loses it's hold completely? How much more powerful would she get?

"Look, don't take my word for it. If and when you visit Ian, ask him for an opinion. I've only mentioned that you'll come see him, but noting else. He may be able to give you more information." Matt says.

Her face tried to express two moods at once - stonefaced in anger and youthful bewilderment.

"The recent battles pushed me more than I'm used to, and things are coming easier. I was worried I might hurt somebody. That's why I came to you because I ..." All expression faded except for the trace of guilt. "I couldn't reach Dr. Strange or get back to the Dark Dimension and Clea. If I'd gone looking for him as Quinn did, we could have been dealing with this situation sooner."

"Marlow, calm down, please. No one's blaming or accusing you or anything. I'm just trying to figure out how I can help you." Matt says.

"I remember you being worried and I didn't have this information then. If I did, then maybe I could have sent you to talk to someone who could help you sooner." he admits.

"Look, it doesn't seem to be an issue now, but you'll definitely want to get a couple of opinions. Maybe once we can get Strange and Clea back on the line, they can tell us what's going on, once and for all."

"No, Marlow. I wouldn't. Especially not now. I just found out that Dracula is my father, and...I can't make this kind of commitment with that looming over my head." Matt says quietly.

"I still don't believe that one person should be considered the sole guardian of a dimension. It paints a big bulls-eye on that person's back for as long as they have the title. Besides, Marlow...I was taught to destroy a lot of supernatural things out there. There's a certain freedom in my job that I don't think would be present if I were Sorcerer Supreme." Matt says.

Whisper snuggles against Marlow and licks her face once.

	"Well, let's hope that whoever the Vishanti pick is worthwhile." Matt says. He still doesn't like the idea of this, but Marlow's right. "Marlow, things are going to happen soon that I'm not sure I'm going to walk away from. If that happens, you'll get some information, but I'll want you to take care of Whisper for me." Matt explains, taking Whisper's lead.

"Things are going to happen that Shelly can't be a part of. She'd want to be a part of them if I told her, and I can't allow that to happen." he says quietly. She's been through enough because of me already.

"I know you're in tight with the Defenders, but if something happens, I'll need you to look in on my friends in Chicago." Matt requests.
