Save The Citizen (open to YA)
James had been planning this training session for some time. The idea wasn't his; he had gotten it from Sky High when Valeria made him watch it with her the other day. No matter where it came from, it would help the team. Sure he had the idea, but making the program to actually do it was beyond him, so he called in some help from his sister Anya.

James told her what he wanted and a few days later she had the program all ready for him. James had played around with the variables until he found something he liked. Once the program was set, he let the other Young Avengers know when the training session would be.

Saturday morning at 8am he was waiting in the training room for his teammates.

	Aine was a pretty nimble flyer and took to the air fast dodging magic beams and repulsor blasts while sending a barrage of solid sound blasts out of the wings at Stevie and Akilah. With how she was flying she could really aim to well. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Walls of iron sand, a priestly pagoda, glowing ironclad fireflies. Standing upright, silent to the end." That was a new spell, by the way. Akilah erected a barrier to deflect the beams and blasts coming at her momentarily while she responded with an attack of her own. She brought her hand back and let energy crackle around it.

"Sprinkled on the bones of the beast! Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle!" She cast a barrage of lightning spears at the disco balls to eliminate them and the beams coming from them. Akilah was not messing around.

"Cool winds come from the high steps! Turn these spears like sail on the tall ships," Daniel calls back. It was interesting that they were both calling on new spells today.

The lightning spears spun harmlessly into a wall.

"For every wall has a weakness. Every star an opposite. Find thee this weakness," Daniel chants his gaze sharpening on the barrier Akilah erected. A large glowing eye appears and blinks shining a bright light.

If there is a weakness in her defense it will be obvious to anyone with a keen gaze. Daniel winces when one of the magic lasers is reflected back at him and soundly thumps one of his knees.

	Stevie darted this way and that, moving at probably close to two hundred miles and hour. She couldn't work up a lot of speed in an enclosed space like this, but she could still do pretty good work. Her repulsor field held as she took a sound blast, getting knocked back but not down. She concentrated on returning fire. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Taking the hint from Daniel’s spell Aine stops dodging so she could get off a good solid sound scream at the weak point in the shield. After that a repuslor blast hit her causing her to lose control and forcing her to fight to stay airborne. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Aine's sonic screams are powerful, and hitting the weak point of the barrier caused it to crumble into shards of light. Akilah was impressed by Daniel's creativity, but she couldn't allow him to continue giving Aine what she needed to succeed.

"Disintegrate, you black dog of Rondanini!! Look upon yourself with horror and then claw out your own throat." She opened her hand wide and let a flash of red light that would cease all active spells. That included the wards she had placed on herself and Stevie, but it was a sacrifice they needed.

"Carriage of Thunder. Bridge of a spinning wheel. With light, divide this into six!" Akilah created six prisms of light to circle around Daniel and all rush at-and beyond him. She had no intention of hurting him, but she was giving him a scare tactic.

"I admire your creative spells, Daniel."

He gave out a startled scream. The spell scared him and he was hit twice by Stevie. It wasn't something he would admit to doing. But he hit the deck as it were then looked up with a touch of annoyance but it wasn't directed at her.

"Thank you. Yours as well. Most.... interesting. I never had a spell scare me before." He jumps up then to his feet and cracks his neck.

"Things from the dark which we fear, come take hold of mine foes by their heels. Black tentacles of Tentrazy, I bid thee take them," he calls. The shadows dance and seem to grow solid as thick black tentacles start to try and grab Stevie and Akilah.

	After regaining control of her flying seeing the defenders currently tied up she started flying towards the dummy to rescue it. Hopefully Daniel could keep them tied up long enough for her to grab it. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Akilah was surprised at the spell Daniel had thrown at them. She was definitely the lesser spell-caster between the two of them, and Daniel was performing spells she had not known him to have cast before. The shadow spell, in particular, was something she could not counter.

Such as it was, Akilah leaped out of the range of the tentacles and grabbed her whip, which she lashed at Aine. she aimed to grapple the girl by the wrist and reel her away from the dummy. As she acted, she attempted a spell that might arrest control of Daniel's shadow tentacles to her.

"Part at my command. The hand of your master is the hand of your master no more, but mine."

If it worked, Stevie would be free and Aine would be facing the difficulties of the tentacles Akilah had just escaped. Akilah was more than satisfied to be able to show off both sides of her combat expertise. But she was still being rather nice about it. She could have cut the rope holding the dummy with her knife, if she had wanted to.

If it had been another mage perhaps she would have broken the spell. But this became very much a battle of magics and Daniel would win that on most days. Today was most days.

He didn't even have to speak. Just pull at the air with his fingers. The tentacles seem to follow a silent unspoken command from him and do two things. They tighten to hold Stevie in place as best they can and they also swim along the floor to try and grab Akilah.

"Aine! Hurry! We do not have much time! Do not worry. I have this spell," Daniel calls out with a growing sense of urgency. He feels if they win this they might not be so lucky on the next round.

	Aine was really getting tired of this and the whip the grabbed her wrist made her do something a little stupid. She grabbed the whip and pulled on it with all of her strength, which was more than one would expect thanks to that power broker stuff increasing it. She wanted to swing Akilah and throw her with any luck right into the dummy saving it. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Akilah smirked as Aine pulled her away from Daniel's tentacles, and tossed her toward the dummy. Akilah let go of the whip at just the right moment to miss the dummy, and blasted lightning at Aine from mid-range before going too far back.

When Akilah landed, her feet were firmly planted and she cast a barrier spell around the dummy to keep Aine and Daniel away from it for even longer. She had thought to cut the rope and force her victory, but that would likely be seen as unfair.

Instead, she chose to use more magic, aiming at both Daniel and Aine. She fired off more electricity, ending her creativity so she could expend the rest of the time they had left.

	Daniel would have called it fair. He claps his hands again. "Gates to the Chapp'ai, release," and while it doesn't collect all of the electricity he is only given a minor shock. Enough so that he finds one hand has gone numb. "The freezing winds of the highest mountain," he calls directing a frigid cone of air at Akilah. He can feel his focus breaking though. 	The repulsor field held long enough for Stevie to get out of the tentacles, but it put a heavier drain on her power supply. Down to sixty percent. She fired repulsor bolts up at Aine. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	“Ah Hell,” Aine screamed as she created a solid sound barrier around herself to fend off the attacks. She also sent a thin beam of solid sound to Daniel so that they could communicate better. “We need to come up with a plan and fast,” Aine said to him. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Akilah was shivering--she hated the cold. That was one thing she never had to deal with in Wakanda. Daniel had taken her off of her offensive streak and she started conjuring spells to immunize her from the cold and other elements.

"Huh. Akilah hates the cold. And I bet if I make it cool enough it will foul up Stevie's suit. Be ready to move, I'm going to start icing up this place." Daniel replies.

Then his fingers start to stiffen as he calls upon a spell he once read. "Open up the Cask of Winter. The time of the Frost Giants is at hand. Open up the Cask of Winter, and let the ice of ages fly!"

Snow, sleet, and everything one can think of when it comes to winter springs fourth. Daniel is able to direct it towards Akilah and Stevie. Daniel can feel the energy get pulled from him. His skin looks paler and sweat drips from his face. Aine should hurry.

He can though appericate the oddly good smell of winter greenery floating under his nose. It is almost relaxing.

	Worse than her suit fouling up, is perhaps Stevie's greatest weakness... tripping. Accelerating at close to 200 mph, with fresh, wet, snow suddenly on the ground... her feet go out from under her and she lands on her ass. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	“Got it,” Aine says. She takes down the front of her shield so she can fly closer. With the barrier still up there is not much she can do so she coats it with solid sound and starts squeezing the barrier with it trying to break it and catch the dummy. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Akilah hates the cold, yes. And she was angry. The sound and sight of the spell Daniel had cast was almost enough to cover Aine completely. Akilah stopped casting her counter spells and crouched low to the ground, hugging her chest with her knees as she pointed an open palm at Aine.

"Ye lord! Mask of flesh and bone, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Truth and temperance, upon this sinless wall of dreams unleash but slightly the wrath of your claws." She unleashed a blast at Aine just as her barrier broke. It was up to time to say who won.

Daniel sank down onto his rump. Then slowly rubbed his face. The spell had drained him. He had been aware of the side affects yet still had gone through with it.

He peers over at Stevie. "I hope I didn't foul up your armor, Stevie. My intention was to see if I could stay at this level for the fight. Three minutes of spells like these is a good test of my own endurance."

	The solid sound shield in back of her bought Aine a few precious moments to send of a solid sound blast to break the rope and a larger one to send the dummy to safety. By then her shield broke without her focus on it and Akilah’s blast hit her. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
