Down Is Up, and Up Is Down
The Stark/Romanov Family Dinner. It was a study and exercise in insanity. They were usually loud, chaotic and entertaining to say the least. Natasha wasn't quite sure if she was up for this one or not. Her back was hurting and her ankles and feet were uncomfortably swollen. The good feeling of the second trimester was gone and the uncomfortable third was here. Though she wouldn't back out or tell Tony she didn't want to do it. They would have dinner and be entertained by the kids. Or so she hoped.

Picking a place was key, but this time she opted for Tony to get a private room at Delmonico's. Steak for the carnivores and private so that if things got loud they wouldn't embarrass themselves. And Natasha felt like dressing up a bit.

She had a new dress from Jan, a new pair of shoes and the earrings Tony gave her when she proposed to him.

When she and Tony were ready, he drove them to the restaurant. They even managed to beat the kids there.

	Eliza suddenly remembers why Lyta hasn't been able to keep Misha sane. Oh hell how dense could she be? Her nose screws up as she wonders how to break it to him. 	"Hey now, leave Anya alone. Cooking isn't for everyone and that's okay." Tony says, trying to get everyone to respect Anya's feelings. She doesn't need even well-intentioned ribbing right now. Lord. It was like being home all over again, only with added pornstache.

"Can't really see any point to college," Stevie said. "Wouldn't count for anything back home. Not that I was probably going to school back home either."

"See, thing with me is, well, the whole Stark-brain thing? Must have skipped a generation or been on the wrong chromosome or something. Cars, I can figure out. Pretty much anything else sciencey? I got nothin'."

She frowned, realizing she was probably talking too much about too much. "Mom pushed me into a couple business courses. Still holds out a glimmer of hope that I've got any real interesting in running the mega-corp come day. Was working as an automechanic, actually. Fixing and racing cars are about the only things I'm good at, other than Avenging."

Dear God, it's like...it's like watching a female version of Clint. Tony thinks. He's trying not to be disappointed in Stephanie but he catches himself wishing that she was more like Anya...who is a lot more like him. This whole thing is a lot like getting a shirt for Christmas and finding out that it doesn't fit at all.

"Well, that's interesting." Tony says, at a loss for what he should say next. Race car driving was hobby, not a profession, at least not to him.

"Well, maybe you'll have an easier time of it here? The Avengers could use more well-rounded recruits, Stephanie. Super-villains take days off, too. Sometimes." Tony says.

He senses this is going poorly.

	"School isn't for everyone," Natasha said carefully. "The important thing is to do what you love doing. We of course will help where we can. I don't know if you're into racing, but Tony does have a racing team. I'm sure they could always use another mechanic. If not, there are a lot of cars between the Avengers and the Young Avengers."
