Atlantis - The Last Stand
Mason was wearing two parkas as he and Marrina waited at the set coordinates on the Nova Scotia shoreline. An official envoy from Atlantis was supposed to pick them up here. He was holding her hand, and what of his face could be seen between his scarf and his hat looked worried. He nodded to her.

"Just in case I get killed..." He squeezed her hand. "I love you. And you were worth it."

He stops and just... stares. He blinks a couple times, his mouth opening a couple times as he tries to find words. Not at all like his usually assured self.

Finally. "Wh.. what... what happened?"

"I messed up when I was trying to signal, and they noticed me, and shot up the stone and, well, um..."

"Damage to the phase-morphed structure causes physiological damage," Simon Hall finally calls attention to himself as he holds his daughter's hand soothingly. "They do not know how long it will take to heal, nor I; nothing on this scale ever happened to me."

He feels sick. Really, really sick.

Finding the world not holding still the way its supposed to, Jordan stumbles the few feet out of the room, taking the door off its hinges in the process, managing to get out of sight before he collapses onto his knees - leaving two Diamant-knee-prints in the solid floors.

Its his fault. All his fault. His orders.

Its his job to protect the team. To make things like this not happen. It should be him in that bed. Except it isn't. Its never him. He's invulnerable - and still can't protect them.

There's voices around him. He's vaguely aware of being violently sick, but nothing more coherent than that.
