“We’re here outside the Four Seasons Hotel in New York where the who’s who is gathered tonight. Celebrities, royals and superheroes have all turned out for the annual Maria Stark Foundation Winter Charity event benefiting Toys for Tots.

It’s truly an all-star gala here tonight.

New York’s own princess, Anya Stark, was seen being escorted by what appears to be her new flame, actor Austin Cain. Her brother and currently second in line to the Russian throne, Mikhail Romanov, was seen entering the party with Lyta Worthington, heiress to Worthington Industries. Tony and Natasha Stark, parents of a new baby, are making their first public appearance since the birth of their son.

Mackenzie Rider, a prince of the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, is escorting Ms. Andrea Denker of the Fantastic Four tonight. Kristoff Vernard, leader of the Fantastic Four, was seen in attendance with his wife Cassandra and their son Scotty. Vincent Amorason, heir to Latveria, arrived alongside his brother and was seen escorting a member of the Defenders, Asleif Thorsdottir. The rest of the Fantastic Four are here too with their dates, though Miss Valeria Richards is not in attendance. Franklin Richards is in attendance and is escorting one Miss Gill.

Los Angeles’ own superhero team, the Defenders are in attendance as well. Arriving with her team is Grace Danvers, daughter of Hollywood hunk Simon Williams and she is being escorted by teammate, Eiltin. The two Asgardian princesses and daughters of Thor, Asleif and Aridis, are also attending the festivities with their team.
Akilah Munore, the crown princess of Wakanda, is here tonight with her steady flame, Daniel Sherwood a member of the Young Avengers. The other Young Avengers are in attendance tonight with their dates, alongside the adult Avengers.

Donald Trump arrived with his wife and is one of many other famous faces to arrive. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Hugh Jackman, Jack Nicholson, Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift are just a few celebrities who have made an appearance here tonight.

It’s truly a party of the who’s who and it’s all for a great cause.”

Late into the party

The party had been going on for several hours by the time something truly... interesting happened.

First, there was the faint feeling of static electricity in the air. Second, there was a faint humming. Both of these built for several moments, before a crackling of energy began to coalesce in the air in the middle of the dance floor. It held there for a moment, until it flashed brighter, disgorging one Steven Barton.

He looked, perhaps, a little older, maybe a little shell-shocked. One sleeve was missing from what looked like a combat uniform, revealing an arm of gleaming metal. On his back was some kind of shield, that looked suspiciously like a certain other shield.

He had come out on one knee, trembling from the energy of the journey.

He looked around, eyes darting every which way, looking for threats.

"...Made it," he said, quietly.

Anya had just come in from outside and still had Justin's coat wrapped around her shoulders. She grabbed a glass of champagne from a passing waiter and downed it in two gulps. Right now getting plastered beyond belief seemed like a good idea.

She put her glass on a table and grabbed another one from the next passing waiter.

She took one drink from it and then took a moment to look around the room. Everyone looked so pretty and they all looked like they were having a good time. In a room full of people she felt alone. Maybe she should just go home and help James and Val with Nick.

She brought her glass up for another drink when she froze. Mentally she counted the glasses of champagne she had tonight. It had only been four or was it five? Definitely not enough to make her start seeing things. Of course there was the possibility she was loosing her mind because she would swear she saw Steve standing there.

	It took him a moment to get to his feet, his eyes readjusting to the lighting. He looked around, not having seen Anya yet. He was pretty sure they'd set the jump for NYC. "This is... this is the Stark Christmas Charity thing, isn't it?" he asked aloud. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Anya blinked and the champagne glass fell to the floor and shattered upon impact. Time seemed to stutter for a moment and then Anya was running toward him. "STEVE!" she yelled and the room suddenly went quiet. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

She reached him and wrapped her arms around him. She gave him the deepest and most passionate kiss she could.

Her eyes close. It /was/ Steve. She would know sound of his voice and the feel of him anywhere or if she were blind.

The kiss broke and she put a hand on his cheek. "My God, it's really you." Tears fell from her eyes and rolled down her cheeks.

She kissed him again.

	It was like a damn burst open, emotions repressed and channel to other purposes let loose at last. Tears flowed and he finally found the strength to break away, likely coming dangerously close to gripping to hard with his right arm, an arm of cold, gleaming metal. "Oh, God, I've missed you..." "I've missed you too," she said. She wiped the tears off his cheeks. Her arm hurt where he gripped her, but she didn't care. The pain just let her know that this was all too real.

She looked down and noticed the metal arm. There would be questions about it, but they could wait for a little while long.

"You're home now, my love. That's all that matters." She kissed him again. "I love you," she said when the kiss ended.

It had been a lovely eating of snacking with Andrea, dancing with Andrea, and talking to Andrea. And now, for the love of Neptune, they had to assemble apparently. Mac headed over to see what was up with Anya.... and was that Steve? He hadn't seen him in ages.

And he heard what he said.

"Dude. Half a skajillion doctors at this party. You can get a quick once-over, at least, while you tell us what the heck's going on."
