Leaving On A JetPlane (Is just arriving somewhere else on one)
Chris smiled to herself as she watched the tarmac approach, feeling the familiar grinding and bumping of wheels as they met the ground, her flight finally setting down at LAX. Mom living on the other side of the country may make it a bit of a jaunt to visit, but she loves coast-hopping. Mom and Dad's separation wasn't easy for her to deal with, but she'd never held it against either of them. She'd made it blatantly clear, even with how young she was, that she wasn't going to be bounced back and forth in whatever custody agreement. It was why she'd wound up with the X-Men; Avengers-Hank had talked to X-Hank, who talked to the Professor. So, Xavier's; best place in the world for a kid to grow up learning how to master their freakish ways.

No need for baggage claim, since everything she needed was at Mom's, and there would be shopping. Chris was still struggling with resisting the urge to bolt down the hallway on all fours when she spotted the familiar face.

"Mom!" She waved, but didn't bother sprinting the rest of the way down the hallway to the welcome area. Last time she did that she accidentally clocked someone with her carry-on.

Chris nods. "I can make the most of improvised weapons, if it comes to it, but most of our training involves unarmed combat, or how to use our powers to back one another up in the field." She grins and shrugs, looking him over blatantly.

"We can't all be so fortunate in our genetics as you guys, although there's at least a handful of us not-so-mere mortals that can give you a run for it." She winks playfully.

His costuming, or lack of, suggests a general lack of shame, and he doesn't seem to mind being looked at. He's giving his share of looks as well.
"Aye, we train unarmed as oft as armed, best make use of all we hath at our disposal. And aye, there art some fair strong mortals, judging by mine father's tales. I keep hoping I wilt get to meet this Hulk he hast spoken of."

He shrugs. "Mine siblings and I art not the same. Whilst Svalin lives for battle, she also hast dreams of becoming a valkyrie, and hast a fine warrior's mind. Aslief and Aridis likewise enjoy the fruits of immortality. But for the bear-jherk, a life lived without challenge ist worth naught. If e'ery foe we wouldst face wast sure to fall, then there ist neither glory nor worth in't. If I am to live an Asgardian's span and see the glorious day of Ragnarok, I wilt do it o'er worthy challenges trying to ensure I am not in that greatest of battles."

"Well, my goals are pretty simple. Stay with Xavier's until I understand my powers as well as I can, go to college, and join the Avengers. I want to make sure no-one ever has to be afraid just because they were born with a certain gene, or because someone else has power to throw around. I want to live a long time, but I'm not going to stop helping people just because of that." She grins confidently.

She then shifts and flexes a bicep. "And I'm not ashamed to admit, the powers help with that." She giggles happily.

	She sighs, closing her eyes and shaking her head. "It's disgusting, ignorant, and sad. Hardly anyone cares if you get your powers through some other kind of freak accident or alien abduction or whatever, but if you've got one little snippet of DNA that's different, you're the cause of all the world's ills." 	"Tis weighted to Asgard standards, else t'would be far too flimsy for us to practice with. E'en so, Svalin and mine own practice sessions oft break a weapon or two. Chris takes the sword with both hands, having to set her legs slightly. Her strength was on the lower end of super, so she didn't see herself swinging this thing around.

"Nice piece of work, for a practice weapon at least." She comments, holding it outward until her arms start to wobble, at which point she eases it back to him. "I usually make do with just what my other form equips me with." She smirks. "I can make five of my six ends capable of rending."

"Aye, so I hath seen." he replies, taking the blade back casually. "I oft fight unarmed, or with an axe or maul, but tis ne'er bad to learn swordsmanship, as they art oft around in Asgard. As for the craftsmanship of this weapon, tis passing. We do not spend o'ermuch time making practice weapons, likely to be broken next time Svalin practices with me, all that fine."

	He shows no signs of minding the contact. He might even be flexing, just a little, or it might just be Asgardian physiology and muscle density. Hard to say. He nods, moving to fetch a few options, giving her a choice of a wooden quarterstaff, a shortsword or daggers. "Take thine pick, and I wilt give thee at least some starting lessons." 	Chris examined them, pursing her lips thoughtfully. "I've got more leg strength, but solid grip, and decent upper arm strength. What would you reccomend?" Her eyes wandered between a pair of daggers and the quarterstaff. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Whate'er thou'rt most likely to continue practice with. Staves art versatile, easy to carry as walking sticks, substitutes canst be found all o'er, and art easy to make. Daggers art concealable, and thou mayst hath some head start in learning to use thine claws - the techniques art somewhat similar. The staff ist also better for defending thyself, whilst the daggers art better for attack, and canst be thrown."

Chris thought it over, then picked up a quarterstaff. "Let's start with this then. Learn with something I can't do on my own." She smiled, flexing her claws, before passing him the staff.

"Lemme run and get into something a little looser, and then I'm all yours big boy." She patted his shoulder, having to reach up a bit to do so, then sprinted across the gym, covering more than a little bit of distance with each bound.

After grabbing the 'emergency' clothes from her carry-on bag, a sports-bra and former pajama pants, now reduced to shorts, she returned, stretching her arms out as she walked over to him again. "Okay, all set." She grinned, practically bouncing on her heels with anticipation.

Chris shoots him her best man-eater gaze.

"What makes you think I don't know exactly what I said?" She smirks, winking as she takes the staff and follows his instructions. More often than not, she finds herself acting too early.

"Rgh..." She's glad she's not in catgirl form, or her tail would be poofing from the frustration. "My instructors always said my idea of 'defense' is hitting the other guy before they can hit me, and forgetting the details."

The look gets an almost predatory grin on his own part. He is inhabited by more than a little animal in his own right, in the form of his totem.

"Aye, tis oft mine own tactic as well, but we art oft besieged by enemies who outnumber us by the dozens, where we must know of defense as well, and protecting teammates. The first requirement of staff fighting ist balance... the second ist patience."
Not his strong point, but he can fight defensively when he has to.

	He continues the lessons, slowly getting more and more complex. At the question, he pauses, considering. "Aye... there ist a lovely young visitor from the X-Men here, I hadst thoughts of taking her to dinner, and mayhap seeing if she wast familiar with the wonders of good mead."
