Guess Who's Coming to Dinner (Genoshans, Nell)
When everything was done at the volunteer site, there was cleaning up and meeting at that great little restaurant with the nice private rooms. The whole gang: Andrew, Giovanna, Angelo, Sengai, Rikki...and that Nell girl Gio had met. The St. Croix girl. The American (and therefore baseline) St. Croix girl. Gio was still processing this. Good thing for the restaurant's record keeping away eavesdroppers, in case someone ended up saying something untoward.

Andrew sits back down, looking around at everyone.

"Please, sit. Jakob and Kristine Eisenhardt were human." he says, naming Erik Lensherr's parents, pointedly. "The mother of his children as well. Most of the authors on my 'people I admire' bookshelf are human. And if we are ever going to have any form of peace between mutants and humans, with or without co-existence... first, we need to be able to eat dinner together.

Ms. St. Croix, I apologize, and take full credit for the unfortunate beginning. I'm sure you understand, given recent events, tensions are somewhat high. Given that you met Giovanna while working in Mutant Town, I'm sure you understand that as well as anyone... and to make amends, this meal is on me."

He eyes the others again. "Everyone, please sit, dinner is on me. The roast chicken is supposed to be excellent."

	There was little Rikki could refuse one from the line of Magneto, and this was no different. If he wanted her to eat with the flatscan, so be it. And if said flatscan had some kind of family history with Magneto... Well, might make her tolerable, at least. So long as she didn't touch her. She sat. "Again... sorry," she managed. Nell glanced down at her wrist and lifted it a bit, the light catching the metal and stones. It was obvious that it was old.

"It was a birthday gift from a friend of my mother's. I think it came from a pirate's shipwreck, but Switchblade Pete doesn't tell his secrets. Other than it carries 'special gifts' for the wearer. If that means compliments received when wearing it, definitely true."

	Oh, for Magneto's sake. She was one of those. The flatscans who wanted to make nice with the mutants, who wanted to give them a "hand-up." "As she says. Coordinate with Giovanna, please, and she'll make sure I get everything needed. I need someone with a background in social work to help coordinate the consulate's approach to Mutant Town and other projects. Even better if that someone helps demonstrate coordination between mutants and baseline humans." he answers, sticking with his belief that mutants are human, so further clarification is needed.

Sengai raised an eyebrow at the girl's choice of curse, though not for the reason the others might have. To him Magneto was a powerful mutant and a credible leader, as his father related to him. However, the man was not some deific being and it made Sengai uncomfortable to hear the man's used as if he were. However, Sengai felt it wise not to bring such a subject up in a public setting for he suspected a reaction to such an opinion would be..significant. He turns to Nell.

"You must know that you'd face a great deal of resentment from both your baseline fellows as well as those you would seek to help. I've seen it firsthand back home between the Tamil and Sinhalese."

	"I don't really engage much with flat...baseline humans outside of my family. And they all associate with mutants. My mother...is very good friends with mutants. For a moment, the chair creaked under the sudden increase in weight and density that Rikki was undergoing. The girl's invoking Magneto's name didn't sit right with her at all. Flatscan slips weren't worthy enough to have the name pass theirs.

She took a breath, forced herself to calm down and regain normal density.

"I'm... sure it will be good for the people we're helping," she said, admittion tasting foul in her mouth.

Andrew isn't necessarily buying every word, but always figured there had to be some baseline humans out in the middle of the political aisle, the way he was. He'll investigate closely to double check everything... but right now this is looking like a boon.

"Well, currently I'm working with the U.N. on trying to gain a degree of legitimacy for Genosha. We've made some headway, but I don't have time to pursue my efforts from all the angles I'd like to. Mutant Town happens to currently be one of the focal points we're working on, but not the only one."
