The sun was starting to sink on the Western horizon and into the Pacific Ocean as another day was ending. A few miles south of 1800 Palos Verdes Drive the ground erupted in a spray of dirt. One by one soldiers came forth from the ground. Some were Spartans, some were Roman legionnaires, and some were Norsemen. A total of three thousand eventually stood in the dying light. They moved into formation and started marching.

Svalin hated teleporting, but she had to admit it was an effective means of travel.

Asleif had deposited Halbjorn and her in the back of the soldiers. There was a brief moment to evaluate the situation and find the "general" on this side. It didn't take long to spot a figure apart from the others and directing the soldiers.

"FOR ASGARD! FOR GLORY!" she yelled as she drew a sword, having broken the spear in the training room.

	The last charge effort was the final straw. Svalin's shout is met with a bestial roar. Undead certainly hear and turn to react, but he tears through them like so much paper as they try to swarm, no longer coherent of the battle or strategy, just looking for something to fight that will give him a challenge. The soldiers turned at the sound of the yell, but for the most part they were slow to react. The Spartans couldn't form up the phalanx in time, the Romans couldn't get set in time and the Norsemen were focused on things ahead of them. The deeper ranks did have time to get set before Halbjorn reached them.

Skurge heard the yell and turned. He saw the two Asgardians and started for them.

The Greek and Roman legions trying to get set are swept under, and even those who do ready themselves find their shields cut through like so much cordwood under the heavy axe.
Whether he comprehends the shout or not is hard to say, but it gets his attention. More than likely, were Skurge not headed his way, he'd ignore him - but a large target heading at him is a direct challenge. Halbjorn bares his teeth and roars a challenge back, sweeping another rank aside and ignoring the cuts raining down on him as all thoughts of defense go by the wayside.

	He was going to go for the woman, but the roar from the man caught his attention. Skurge grinned and charged at the man. The large axe he carried was readied and waiting to strike. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	That's definitely taken as a challenge. With a handful of arrows and a few blades still sticking from his flesh, and covered in both his own and his enemies' blood, Halbjorn charges, sweeping aside the skeletal troops who try to bar his path. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Skurge charged forward, sweeping his own troops out of the way as he moved. Nothing would prevent him from reaching the Asgardian. Once he was close enough he bellowed as the large axe started to swing. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Halbjorn provides a great distraction for Svalin at least. Thinking nothing of tactics or safety, he rushes Skurge, swinging his own axe in turn, leaving himself open to an assault in response. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Svalin kept moving toward the large man. Her sword never stopped and she continued to cut a path to the man taking a swing at her brother. Blood ran from various cuts over her body, but she didn't pay them any mind. There would be time after the battle to see to them. Provided she was still alive. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Halbjorn has enough instinct to move his head aside, the heavy axe burying itself into his shoulder instead, burying itself down to bone. His left hand comes up and grabs the axe handle to keep it from being pulled out of his shoulder so his swing can't be parried in turn, swinging the two handed axe in just his right hand at Skurge's torso. 	Skurge was a bit surprised at the sudden sharp bite of pain in the back of his legs. They buckled a bit as the sword cut across the back of thighs and the other man's axe bit into his shoulder. 	Recognition settled in. Svalin and Halbjorn had grown up hearing tales of Skurge and how he menaced the Golden Realm with that cow Amora and with Loki on occasion. She drew back her sword and once again aimed a blow at his legs. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Halbjorn makes no recognition of the words, his off hand still clutching the haft of the Executioner's axe as its pulled from his shoulder, hacking down with his own blade as he pushes forward, pitting his strength against Skurge's. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	There was another bite at the back of his thighs, but he couldn't turn to take care of the woman delivering the blows. He bellowed as the axe bit into his shoulder. 	Halbjorn isn't most, or even most Asgardians. And while this might usually be a very interesting contest, gripped by the bear-sark, Skurge will soon find himself being driven backwards into Svalin's assault. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	This wasn't working. The sword from the practice room was Migard made and was only scratching Skurge at best. She needed her Asgardian sword to do any real damage. But she would do what she could. When Skurge starting moving backward, Svalin crouched low and waited for him to fall over her. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Svalin's tactics appear sound, Halbjorn's relentless charge forcing him back to topple over her. By now he's already broken his own axe on the Executioner's flesh, and begins wrestling with him for possession of Skurge's weapon. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Its not the Bloodaxe, but its a weapon. Halbjorn tries to rip the axe away and swing wildly. Normally, a warrior such as Skurge would easily be able to avoid the swing, but Svalin may well be able to interfere further too. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
