In the Deep of the Night
Night had settled over the city of Los Angeles. A waning gibbous mood had risen and the light of the stars was blocked out by the thick smog that usually blanketed the city. The hours moved on and the city slowed down. Citizens were asleep in their beds and off to dreamland.

The same held true for the residents at 1800 Palos Verdes Drive.

They wouldn't stay asleep for long. Something stirred in the darkness outside.

"Working on it," Syd said as she worked on her tablet to bring up the footage.

Halbjorn is being kept well away from Andy, and just about everything else. The slightest things are setting him off since he learned his sister was gone, and Aridis is the only one potentially safe if he succumbs to the madness again.

Needless to say, Franklin doesn't feel comfortable in the room right now. He would rather Hal and Sigurdur not be present, given their current moods.

Marlow's magical energies had yet to reach a limit. A Marlow Illusion haunted Titan's (and Andy's) bedside to keep watch while she prepared a spell to 'light' the escape route of Svalin's kidnappers. If they were shadows, she reasoned, then light would reveal their path. Her spell would show them what happened and how they left from the precise point, like a movie replay. They could then follow and rescue her.

Halbjorn's and Sigurdur's behavior didn't bother her. If one or the other became violent, she had just the place to stash them if necessary.

Dawn closed her eyes, taking in deep breaths and marshaling what energies she had left and going through a mental checklist of low energy but high utility spells. Some useful, some not. Invocations would help too... but even those required some personal power.

She could do this. She was the chosen apprentice of the Sorcerer Supreme. She was the chosen avatar of a highly bitchy and high-standard keeping goddess. All the crap she'd faced, all the fear she felt, and she never once ran away.

She could do this.

Giffen looks like he was worked over. His shields hadn't protected him from everything. He could still get hurt but it didn't look as if he needed to be side lined. Griffen is going over the footage as well from his own tablet.

Every second he can't find something earns another low and frustrated growl. He wanted to help but honestly thought Syd was better at this right now.

She was still thinking clearly.

Vernique was oddly quiet. This was Weird Stuff territory. Let the experts do their thing.

"Okay, I got it set." Marlow's voice came out louder than she intended with her attention split in two directions. "Dawn, I need your help to roll the movie clip. It's going to be an illusion so...Sigurdur, keep Hal back. If he attacks it, I'm sending him to a desert island where he can't fight anything except sand crabs."

"Um, okay," Dawn said. "Just like messing with the fangirls, right? Nice, simple, illusion."

Dammit, why was so she on edge tonight? She hadn't been this uneasy in ages. The answer really was simple, of course. A lot of the other stuff, while bad, had been... abstract, lacking in a personal connection save that they might all die. But here, this was personal. She'd not known Svalin long, but counted her well enough as a friend.

She took a breath. "Okay. Ready."

"Aye." Sigurdur says, his pacing stopping. He moves near enough to put himself between Hal and the others, but not near enough to present himself as a threat in the other man's heightened state. He hoped that these sorceresses could find Svalin as quickly as possible so they could go and rescue her.

He also hoped that Andy would pull through, as he'd heard that the man faced Ares himself without blinking. That took courage.

"Just like with the fangirls," Marlow said with a nod, beginning the spell.

In a few seconds they had a front row view of Svalin engulfed and struggling with shadows. Dawn's support allowed Marlow to fine tune it as it played. When the toothy smirk face appeared, Marlow froze the illusion. "Does anybody recognize it? It's not a demon that I've ever seen."

Halbjorn, thankfully, isn't watching the illusion - and isn't anywhere remotely close to everyone else and what they're doing, pacing outside of sight or hearing range.

Eiltin had been busy helping Ruarc clean the blood out of his fur and some healing for what injuries he had gotten in the fight. Greeks never were good at dealing with Celtic warhounds. Eiltin had also painted on him a kaddis to promote healing and protection on him.

After he finished with that he headed down to the medical bay to check up on Andy and find out what the others were up to. When the passed Hal Ruarc gave him a look. The look was so much at him but at the totem within him warning it off of even thinking about attacking Eiltin.

"We don't have Titan or Andy or Argo to help, so somebody search a book or that computer thing and find it!" Marlow let the movie clip continue and watched the shadows take Svalin. As it ran its course, she left it playing and went to the spot where it happened. All she had to do was connect to something essentially Svalin and follow it. Easy sounding, but so hard to find.
