Shopping
It was a perfect autumn day in Los Angeles and perfect for shopping, at least according to her wife. Vernique didn't miss the fact that Brandr had all Asgardian clothes, what little of those he had, and no Migard clothes. There was a statement that bodyguarding couldn't be done if one stood out. So shopping it was.

Svalin was on Solver duty for shopping. She knew next to nothing about Migard fashion or clothes in general and someone had to keep Solver from flying around the stores. Vernique was the expert shopper in the family and Svalin was more than happy to let her take point and say where they went and what they bought.

With toddler in arms and distracted by animal crackers, Svalin followed her wife and Brandr.

	"Aye," she said. "We doth do this often." Too often for Svalin's tastes, but her wife knew what she was doing when it came to Migard stuff and clothes. Svalin gave Solver another animal cracker (why were they called crackers when they were clearly cookies?) and started to tell him about the time she slayed her first dragon. 	Vernique let her tell her story, but she'd remember to point out to Solver eventually how Mommyone's dragonslaying techniques were not necessarily to be emulated. "He keeps outgrowing his shoes, which gives me a great excuse." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"The young lord ist very well cared for in thine hands. At least he shalt never want for boots," Brandr smiles, though he doesn't get this shopping thing.

All of the midgard clothing he'd seen so far seemed woefully inadequate for combat, something he'd like to ask about when he got the chance. Because the point of this trip seemed to be to get him to blend in more, which he saw the reason for he'd admit, people had mistaken him for some creature called a 'Cosplayer' already. The whispers wondering how real his swords were baffled him a little though. Who would carry fake swords? That made no sense.

Did Svalin /want/ their son devoured by the next monster he saw? Svalin manages to find some appropriate jeans. "These look to be about your size, Brandr. Very unobtrusive." Brandr listens to the dragon story with a small smile. It was an entertaining one, and her battle tactic was brave, daring and strategic. He really didn't see the objection to it. Hair could grow back.

He eyes the jeans for a moment and holds them up to determine their size. The material at least seemed tougher than many of the others here. "Very well milady. Am I to wear them now?" Well a job was a job. Goodbye practical clothing that had served him so well until now, local customs must be observed and ladies were to be listened to.

He nods then stops and smiles at her, looking slightly amused. "I art afraid great tales of slaying dragons wilt be difficult to temper milady. Though best of luck in the endeavour." He suspected she didn't want her son jumping into the mouths of monsters until he was old enough, a respectable goal.

Following her instructions, he goes to the changing room and comes out a few minutes later, looking slightly awkward. He could've pulled off unobtrusive if not for his stature...and the bulky belt with two swords hanging off it. The look didn't quite work with jeans. Were trousers always so confining on Midgard? Not to mention the belt loops were not made for belts carry swords. Someone should fix this.

	Svalin was in the middle of describing cutting her way out of the dragon's stomach when Brandr came out. She stopped for a long moment. She had never seen him in anything except his normal Asgardian clothes. There may have been a few moments of staring, but she continued with the tale when Solver tried to put an animal cracker in her mouth. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	He'd half expected laughter, and was grateful there wasn't any. He was to fight in these clothes? Well...challenge accepted. "Nay. I shalt manage milady. Simply a new challenge ist all. Lady Svalin does quite admirably in them, I shalt learn as well." Now if he tried hard enough he could perhaps conceal a few knives in these pants, though it would be difficult. "I art most fortunate to never have to test that statement," he laughs and adjusts his belt again. "Aye but I draw mine swords much faster with them at mine sides. It has saved me many a time in a fight milady, the first to draw sword has the advantage in battle. In mine duties to thee and the young lord it ist preferable for all if I shouldst work at mine best," he says politely. He'd look into adjustments for the belt to make it work with these jeans he would need to wear for duty now.

	"Mostly Solver stuff, I'm going to get you a shirt -- I'm also thinking of ordering one of those coats from Japan for you, Brandr... there are some places in public you're not supposed to go armed. 	Svalin just /sighed/. She really didn't need a new dress. It wasn't like she ripped them on purpose, okay maybe one or two were torn on purpose a little, but it didn't warrant a new one. She still had two or three in her closet. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Oh, she doesn't wear them oft at all." Amusingly, if Svalin didn't raise such a fuss about dresses, the occasional tear would not be met with these results. However, since she did, there were consequences to accidents: Tear a dress; get a new dress. This association must be driven into certain heads. Dress-tearing should be avoided.

"Something in a short skirt, don't worry."
