(Let freedom ring!) A bid for independence...
Armed with a notepad and PDA, a list of properties, and a Hulk-sized travel mug of hot coffee, Sammy used her elbow to knock on Tim's door. Today was the day and he /promised/ he would go with her to check out apartments. She was going to hold him to it, unless he really had work to do, or an important experiment on the cooker, or if he really didn't want to go. Her back up, Power, was currently in the middle of his psych eval, and Alice was off again. Tim would be the better choice. He had an eye for details that her parents would take seriously, and he was fun to hang out with.

	"No, I don't want to blow up my new apartment." He always sounded to logical. The guy could make beer, but not a grill burger. That was so not logical. "All I can do without making anything explode is brew coffee. Thank god for take out. Although I probably won't get to spend enough time there to worry about meals. But I need some space, Tim." 	Sammy got in close behind him and squeezed his hand. She didn't want to get separated. It would use unnecessary energy if she had to stop time to find him again. Idea! For Christmas she'd get him a hat with a flag on it. Then she'd never lose him in a crowd again! (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Once more on the hunt, Sammy moves faster and tugs hard on his hand to get him to keep up.

The first apartment on the list was a little worse for wear. SHIELD safe houses tended to be secure. Safe was a whole different matter. It wasn't that she expected to move into a hotel-type room with everything working, but she was hoping for more in the convenience department. Like a microwave.

But, it wouldn't be hers if she didn't have to work for it, including cleaning it up and replacing things. Like the cracked window. Water faucet handles. Water faucet.

"Tell me what you think, and don't bog down in the cosmetic issues. I want to know if this could be liveable in a month."

"That's why I have a list," she sighed. Why did she think it would be easy? Oh yeah, because she hadn't actually had to think about this kind of stuff in her entire life. And she knew nothing about electrical systems.

"You're right, of course. But I will let the maintenance division know they need to do something about this place. Now, the next one nearest here is another subway stop down the line. I'd need a coffee refill too."

	It wasn't a priority, but assets were assets. SHIELD's budget had been a seesaw over the decades. Not having something ready when it was needed was waste. She made her mental notes and dropped the subject. "I should spring for lunch. You're doing me a huge favor." (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	"I will dodge them as long as I can," he said with a grin. "I'm not a field agent and don't need to be in top physical shape." Although Tim was in top physical shape for a guy his size. His extracurricular activities kept him in shape. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

"Even lab agents get caught out of their environment and need the skills." She was beating her head against a wall on that one. Field agents weren't scientists, scientists weren't field agents, yadda yadda.

Then again, if he was out in the field, she'd worry he'd get hurt. There was no way she could tell Dum Dum that she'd let Tim get hurt on her watch. He was safer in the lab and she could be in the field with Power, Aleks and the rest and not worry about them. Except Aleks and the Hulkbuster Protocols.

The next offering wasn't a top floor apartment, but it wasn't bad to her eyes. Not as much room, but seriously, she didn't need a lot.

"Well, what do you think about this one?'

	"Plumbing is a good thing," she said with a solemn nod and her hands on her hips. Like she knew anything about plumbing except when it didn't work. /That/ she could recognize. "There are a couple of more on the list, but this definitely in the running." She took some pictures and made some notes. "And close to transportation so it's easy to get back and forth."
