The Battle of Olympus
The trail eventually led the Avengers, Future Foundation and the Defenders to the other dimensional realm that served as the home of the Greek gods. They traveled to a few realms that were home to other gods only to find them destroyed and in ruins. Olympus wasn't in ruins, but it was under attack. Battle raged all around and the skies thundered and were lit up by lightning bolts.

	For the moment, Buck is content with that. He's not sure how Ophois noticed what he was doing in the smoke when he now appears to be a perfectly open target... but he's not objecting to not being attacked either. As the smoke starts to clear, he starts assessing the rest of the situation to see if he can aid in directing anyone else's attention. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Ophios created a few illusion doubles of himself and spread them out. When the guys comes out of the smoke he won't know which one was the real one. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Ok, time for an acting job. Buck starts turning warily, looking from double to double. He fires the lance at once of them, accomplishing nothing.

Even dropping his goggles down doesn't help - they are all visually the same, even in heat imaging... and for all he knows, none of these guys is the real god.

His real reason for the goggles is to hide his eyes. While blasting illusions now and then and looking like he's keeping his attention up, its really to try and prevent Ophois from noticing the paint pellets, waiting for the real guy, illusory, invisible or not, to step on one. Though he can't tell the illusions from the real thing, Buck is betting that they won't suddenly start leaving painted footprints.

He's outclassed, and he knows it. But he's hoping some trickery might at least keep him alive, and let him buy some more time.

	The real Ophois was still invisible and waiting for the perfect moment to strike. He circled around behind Buck striking out with the dagger. He didn't notice that he stepped on a paintball. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

He almost doesn't turn in time. Even so, the dagger plunges into his shoulder and runs down one arm, cutting through skin and muscle past his limited armor.

Still, he notices the purple footprint in time to keep it from being a killing blow, whirling with the shield aimed at about Ophois' throat height, and blasting with the staff if the shield hits anything, trying to take advantage while he can.

He has no illusions of taking anyone down here - he just hopes he can take his opponent off-guard enough to finally get a hit in and buy more time while Ophois tries to figure out what just happened.

Best Buck can hope for, in current circumstances.

	He could feel the dagger absorb power and funnel it into him. He smiled and then got hit with the shield. It knocked him backward and then the blast hit. He went flying backward and landed hard on the ground. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Buck is having some trouble moving the arm with the staff now, so he braces it on his hip, firing again, trying to get in one more shot before he drops another smoke bomb. He doesn't have a lot of fight left in him, but at least he's buying people time here while he hopes whatever Aslief disappeared to do turns up... something. (Reply to this)(Parent)
