Movie tickets? Check.

Dressed semi-nicely? Check.

Flowers? ...kind of.

Mason straightened himself up and knocked on the door to Marrina's room. His First Date ever; hopefully it wouldn't be a total wreck. Jordie had given him pretty good advice after all, and he always seemed to do alright with the ladies back home.

Did her hair look okay? Yeah, it was fine. She didn't bother with make-up, not with the amount of time she spent in water, so that was right out. Clothes good? Yeah.

Hydrated enough that she could enjoy an evening out without having to submerge herself? Yeah, she should be fine.

Marrina did one last check of her hair in the mirror, slipped her shoes on, and opened the door.

"Hey, there," she said.

Mason's grin crept from one side of his face to the other, maybe a little too wide, but he wasn't one for subtleties. He held up the gift for her. "Hi!"

It was a spider plant, in a brightly colored pot.

"This is for you." He added needlessly. "I was going to bring flowers, but then I realized that they'd just die really soon, so I thought this would be better. I've got the tickets all set for the movie you picked out, and the cab should be here soon and get us to the mall in plenty of time."

	"Sure thing. Like I said, I planned so we've got plenty of time." Mason replied, chest puffing up just a bit as she seems pleased with the plant. Marrina's room is largely dominated by family photographs, some interesting sea shells and bits of coral, and also, instead of a bed, what appears to be a small pool.

She slipped her jacket--lighter than was probably necessary for the weather, but she wasn't bothered by temperature extremes--on. "Whenever you're ready. You sure you're okay seeing the Princess and the Frog?"

	It's a Disney movie, why wouldn't I be? No, don't say that. Scraplet of masculinity must be preserved at all cost. You're already not as macho as Jordie. He grins yet again. "No problem. I said I was treating you, so I'm treating you good. You get to pick." He smiles. "All I expect back is that you don't gawk or lecture me based on how much snack food I get." "That's how they get you, at the theatres. They have these super jumbo sized portions of drinks and popcorn but sucker you in with the refills at cheap prices, thinking that hardly anyone will actually need a refill. I show them." He grins triumphantly.

"Wanna go battle corporate film culture, even if we can't live without them?" He offers her his arm all gentlemanly.

Mason feels a foot taller as she takes his arm, and heads them outside. A short cab ride later, they're at the snack bar of the nearest theater. He sizes up the pickings as they wait in line. "I wanted to thank you again for coming along with me. I know I'm kinda hyper sometimes and people can end up dragged into my ideas before they can think to say no. Mom calls it 'The Mason Effect', and I just wanted to make sure that you were really okay with it being a date and going to a movie with me, and not just having the idea come at you too fast to say no."

Why are you talking that much? He blushes faintly.

She's giggling. Omigoshshe'ssocutewhenshedoesthat. Get a grip Mason. There is such a thing as a grip, and you need to GET one.

"'Kay.." He squeaks slightly, before clearing his throat. "Okay." There, manly.

Oh-hoh. So he was wrong about undersea food being salty. But not liking salty food? That wiped out just about all the warm food. No popcorn, no nachos, no pretzels....

"Do you mind if I still get that stuff for myself?" He gives her a hurried glance, feeling the judgmental stare of the cashier as he's worried about holding up the line. He orders himself the largest size red ICEE and box of gummi bears they have in the meantime. "Anything for you at all?"

Mason orders her stuff and pays for it as well, before loading up on his own. He passes the tickets to her to give the next employee, needing both arms to carry all of their food. Yes, he's going to carry everything. Just because he's ~~tiny~~ not Jordie doesn't mean he can't carry plenty of stuff. He works plenty in the garage and yard and stuff after all. There are totally muscles in this ~~tiny~~ frame.

Once they're seated, and all the snacks are organized, he looks around the theatre, apparently observing something, before letting out a rather satisfied "Heh-heh."

Mason relaxes a little, having a little surge of happy at her not apparently feeling the need to get rid of his hand.

"Sure thing, my pleasure." He pauses. "Just curious by the way, but is the hair a 'you' thing, or a dye thing?" He wasn't sure if she was a mutant, or something else, so ''you' thing' seemed the best way to phrase it.

"I really like it." He says in addition.

	Yes, even though she was so mean as to point out his height when they met. He's classy like that. There's also the fact that it couldn't matter less to him. "That's really cool." 	For the first return to traditional animation in years, it's a pretty good movie, as far as Disney goes. Catchy songs, at any rate. Marrina can't help but smile just a little when she catches Mason tapping his foot along to the music. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
