New Years
The beginning of a New Year, a time for new hopes, new experiences to come. A time to reflect on times past, remembering fond memories happily and trying to put less pleasant thoughts and experiences in the past.

It is a time of renewal, a time of rebirth. And for much of the world, it is a time of celebration. This is no less true for the super hero set as anyone else. If anything, they just have that much bigger of things to look forward to.

He growls a little, but it's no use arguing with the kid. "Of course she's my type. I'm really, really trying to overlook that." He's going to have a small fantasy moment tomorrow at Rockefeller Center because Syd has never gone skating and call it good for the year.

"I need to hear the bet first. If it involves Syd and anything past second base the answer is an automatic 'no.' Any bet involving my family is also right out. I screwed that up enough."

Dad's married, Dr. McCoy is married, you're still dating blow up dolls with six figure incomes. You already told me she's your type, that was half of it... an' she already confirmed she likes you. So here's the bet, ask her out... an' no weaseling out of it by sayin' its just as friends or nothing like that. Just one real date, just you two, no kids, no nothing. If it don't go anywhere, then fine. But give her a chance, huh? Yer not the guy you were twenty years ago... you gotta give yerself a chance. Which means not shootin' yerself down before you even try. Ask her out on a real date, no qualifiers, no sabotagin' yourself. Whether she says yes or no, I won't tell Ohu about the lightsabers. We got a bet?"

	Daniel grins at the response, lifting his beer in salute to Simon before finishing it. "Will do, Uncle Simon. You kids have fun." he replies with a wink, before smashing the beer can on his forehead and 3-point shooting the can into the recycling. "Score!" Daniel takes off down the hall.
