The Big Finale!
The brides were clad in white and lined up in front of the altar. A semi-circle of priests stood behind the brides and were chanting. The magic in the air became more powerful as the priests chanted. A small circle appeared in the air before the brides and started to get bigger.

Standing behind the priests was a large group of deviants. They were witnessing the rebirth of their god into the mortal realm. It was an honor and privilege to be witness to this historic moment.

Rashtak works to get a mystic feel for the three coming at her. All mortal men, but there was something odd about the nature of the big one, while dimensional energies clung to the boy.

She weaves powerful dark magics, surrounding the trio with a cloud of blackish ink. By the time they get clear of it, they'll see illusory doubles of the others battling monstrous deviants - actually illusions cast over themselves, trying to turn the trio on one another.

	Steve was surprised to find himself surrounded. Where the hell had James and Jack gone? He moved quickly, dodging the spike that one of them had thrown, and struck out with a giant punch. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

After the black cloud disappeared, Jack's eyes were disagreeing with his other hyper senses. He couldn't stop to puzzle out why. Surrounded by deviants, he barely had time to avoid a solid hit by a flung disk as he threw himself backward into a handspring and then to his feet. He stumbled on the landing, thigh hurt by the unknown weapon and refusing to give in.

He headed directly for the one that struck out at him first, using throwing stars tipped with diamond hard points. With the proper wrist motion taught to him by Elektra, he could embed them completely in a human body. What they would do to a deviant, he didn't know. It would be interesting to find out.

Set's Blood! The older brunette was perceptive, and quick.

While her body is resistant to harm, the diamond edged stars do leave shallow scratches in her skin.
Cursing, she gestures downward, and bolts of darkness rain down from the skies around them, burning should they touch flesh.

Then she senses something - one of the Bride's mind is stirring inside the ritual.
Grinning savagely, she mischants just slightly, assisting the efforts of the mystic trying to awaken the bride just a little.

	Jack was quick enough to avoid direct hits from the bolts raining down, diving, turning and twisting in some macabre dance in the Daredevil style. His clothes had singe marks, but his flesh was relatively unscathed. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

Rashtak sensed, distantly, one of the brides would soon be free. If Set was not pleased with the offering, he might consume the priestlord, leaving the way open for her. Now she just had to survive to see it.
These heroes were most vexing, but at least they gave her a good excuse not to be present when Set arrived.

Another spell, and watery tendrils rise up, reaching for the heroes, trying to pin and squeeze them.

	This, at least, he could deal with easily. Steve shrank close to normal size, out of the grip of the tendrils, then increased his size to larger than before. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Billy clubs were very useful things. Jack couldn't destroy water tendrils, but he could bash and weaken their hold on him as he followed James toward the center. He unleashed his rarely seen anger into each blow. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

They keep coming - whatever she throws at them. She can sense the ritual faltering, however. Soon it will be time to claim power.

Using her magics rather than the new means of teleporting the Deviants have found in themselves, she flees the three mortal heroes, summoning a dark portal which swallows her up before fading. All of the dangers they were fighting disappear when she runs away.
