Add to Memories
Tell a Friend
Characters: Janis Parke & Open
Setting: Saturday November 27th, A bit before dinner, between buildings.
Content: SFW, Janis is singing...
Summary: Janis has headphones, but that doesn't mean she knows how to use them.

Thanksgiving was over, the turkey long since dead and Black Friday shopping a hazy memory in thousands (if not millions) of young and old womens' minds. Break was coming to an end which meant only one real thing of importance.

Janis had not started any of her homework from before break.

Though her original plans had her arriving to class late in the evening on Sunday, just one look at her backpack had her mother sending her off before she could so much as say the word 'snuffle gumps'. So, here Janis was, back on campus and oblivious to the fact that fairies do not in fact, complete assignments. Instead she was bouncing along the (much warmer than Maine)'s sidewalks singing Mika like nobody's business. This is a girl without a mission, and more than willing to diverge anyone who might cross her path with one.

"Teenage dreams in a teenage circus... running around like clown purpse

Who gives a damn about the family you come from, giving llalaa when you're young and you want some!"

Thanksgiving break had been wonderful, full of shenanigans, and there was of course a ton of running around. That left little time for actual work to get done. Sunny had a pile of homework waiting for her so she left early on Sunday, headed back for school. After grounding herself to her room for a few hours she was about ready to burst. With her books and bubbles she headed for the commons.

In between buildings she heard the unmistakable singing of her little bouncy friend. Sunny skipped over. "Janis!" she bounced. "How was your break?"

In a flash both ear-buds were out and hanging off her shoulder, in a second flash (for it is a lie that lightening does not strike twice) Janis was running and bouncing over to Sunny.

"Ah-May-Zing! Everything Happened! How about you? Did you eat turkey? Ham? Did you go shopping????"

Sunny squealed in delight. "Same! Amazing! I ate tofurkey and vegan stuffing and like ten pounds of pumpkin pie," she giggled. "And yes, the shopping... it was amazing. New York City on black Friday is crazy and terrifying and delightful all wrapped into one!"

Hopefully during the midst of their exchanges, they had been able to come closer to one another and not yell across campus. Though really? This was one of the few weekends that wasn't so horrid, after all- it wasn't like everyone was home yet.

"Oh Emmm Gee! You were in N-Y-C for Black Friday?" Janis pronounced the letters, "That is sooooooo unfair! What did you get? Did you get anything?"

"Yeah! That's where I live!" Sunny bounced. "It was sooo cool! I got these amazing Lego sets for the twins, and some sweet skullcandy headphones for Camilo, and I got some super savings on clothes for my little sisters! Oh! Oh! And I got my boyfriend some cool photography stuff too!"

"Soooo jealous!" Janis beamed, "Is it cold there? I like, froze my tosh off!" Because clearly, being just a little bit further south could mean it was so much warmer 'down there'.

"It was pretty mild," Sunny nodded. "Much colder there than it was here but not too bad if you're used to it," she was glad that Janis was the kind of person who understood what she was saying when she spoke a mile a minute. "I was so glad to actually be able to layer my clothes again," she giggled. "You can't do that here because it's always so friggin hot!"
alittlevague From: [info]alittlevague Date: December 1st, 2010 01:38 am (UTC) (Link)
"Well you could layer your clothes, they'd just have to be REALLY thin!" Janis countered, Sunny wasn't alone in that speed of speak, and god help anyone who tried to listen in on them.

"I'm soooooo done with the cold. I might even ask Mom to like, come down HERE for Christmas because it's going to be F-Ree-Zing back home!"

"Oh man! That's true, why didn't I think of that? Duh!" she laughed.

"Oh man! That would be fun to have family down here for Christmas! I'm going back to New York City, I promised Stasi a cold winter break," she shrugged. "Where are you from again? You're further north than me right? I can't imagine how cold it must be!"

"Main" Janis made a face, "A-K-A Cold-As-Fudge State. I live like, a door over from the Shaw twins." Janis couldn't help but fix the wonderfully non-winter clothes she had on, a light jacket and jeans. Nooo thank you scarves. "At least you guys get all the cool parades!"

"That must be fun to have friends so close by during breaks though!" she grinned. She couldn't even imagine how much fun she would have if her favorite twins the Parry's lived right next door.

"Have you ever been to New York? If you haven't we need to fix that pronto! You're always welcome at my house!" she tittered on. "We do have some baller parades, my dad always takes my the whole family to the Macy's Thanksgiving one, you have got to go some time! And then the Pride Parade is always fun too! Rainbows everywhere!"

"It is when they actually go home." Janis replied, thinking of the loser-pants Leon and him staying here to get into fights. Loser pants.

"Ooooonce-" The mention of rainbows? Oh she was sold. "When is that? I gotta go! And you can always come up to Maine if you like... uhm. Crabs and stuff. It's kind of cool. They're red?"
soleada From: [info]soleada Date: December 4th, 2010 08:47 pm (UTC) (Link)
"It's in June! You'd love it!" Sunny giggled. "I would love to come to Maine! I love moose! You have moose right?" Sunny put her hands to the side of her head and laughed. "MOOOOOOSE!"
alittlevague From: [info]alittlevague Date: December 4th, 2010 09:33 pm (UTC) (Link)
"I think so!" She bounced, only to erupt into a fit of giggles at the moose interpretation. Scrunching her nose Janis did her best to mimic the ears, bouncing a bit in place.

"MOOOOOOOSE?"
soleada From: [info]soleada Date: December 4th, 2010 10:17 pm (UTC) (Link)
Sunny couldn't help but laugh even harder. "MOOOOOOOSE!" she was her only response other than a giggle fit. She loved having a friend like Janis.

"Do you think they just hang out like that? I feel like they would just call to each other all the time, hanging out in the woods."
alittlevague From: [info]alittlevague Date: December 6th, 2010 12:45 pm (UTC) (Link)
"Well, maybe they have cell phones? Only.. antler phones?" She wasn't sure how that would work, but already an antler-hand was trying to figure out the logistics of such.

"I bet they get good reception" she wondered aloud, looking both one way, and then another, "You're back early! I mean like, from holidays?!?"
soleada From: [info]soleada Date: February 4th, 2011 09:32 am (UTC) (Link)
"Maybe one turns down like this," she said turning her hand down and pretending to talk on it. "You're probably right, they must have real nice call clarity," she grinned.

She bounced a little. "Oh, yeah! I had like a pile of homework to do that wasn't getting done at home," she giggled. "Too many shenanigans."
