"Nothing is more honorable than a grateful heart." - Seneca

In America today is a day for being thankful for the things in people's lives. Today was a day to celebrate family, friends, prosperity and health with food, family and friends. It is a time to reflect on what is important us and to recognize the gratitude we hold for having those things in our lives.

After double checking that Bruce wasn't going to be touching any food that wasn't already cooked, Thomas relaxes a bit about this dinner. Granted, he still found family things a bit awkward at times but it was a definite improvement over last year.

Now all he had to do was make sure he got an optimal seat in terms of proximity to his favorite foods.

Bruce not touching any of the food while it was cooking was very important. Maria was happy to lend a pair of hands in the kitchen and when things were ready she helped carry them to the table. She of course set Thomas' favorites far from him as possible.

Maria will get glared daggers by both Thomas and the new addition of Mr. Paws who'd decided to climb onto Thomas's shoulder and survey the offerings. Those were looks of 'we'll get you for this, just you wait'.

Maria just smirked at Thomas. Intimidation was impossible with a small kitten perched on your shoulder.

Thomas grumbled and tried moving one of his favorite dishes closer. Kitten glares didn't really help his cause. "We'll get her later," he whispers to Mr. Paws.

"No you won't," Maria said. She had very good hearing.

Yep. Next time he'd try send a costumed Varon at her. The guy was 50 times worse like that. "Can't stop me," he shot back with a smirk.

JSA/JLA/JLI Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was always a huge affair at the JSA Brownstone. Every year, the JSA invited the JLA and their families over to the Brownstone, and they'd extended the invitation to the newly formed JLI as well.

Layla was banned from the kitchen, as she'd picked up her father's bad habit of swiping turkey legs before the bird was even out on the table.

Tess was helping in the kitchen to the best of her ability. And trying to be nervous that Jay and Joan would be here. Most people would find this absurd, since the Garricks were... themselves, and they liked her just fine. But it was the principle of the thing.

So at least the food was going to be perfect.

Iris couldn't cook, but she was great at fetching things. She could play gopher and carry anything that needed to be carried to the table.

Lee helped out with some cooking. Mainly desserts including a couple old family pie recipes.

Jon is capable of cooking, but isn't nearly as good at it as many of those gathered. As such, he settles for helping by making sure all the tables are set and everything is in readiness in the dining room.

As far as actual domestic preparation goes, Pippi is no help whatsoever. But man, do the decorations look stylish.

Margery flinches away from overexcitable people a little, still having a hard time dealing with crowds.

Dex wasn't sure how he got talked into coming, social gatherings weren't his thing, but there was a lot of food. "Is there any beer?" he asked.
