Windows 7 - Oh My!
So I've been spending a buncha time geeking out the last couple days. I moved my Shuttle to my desk (which is far better then the corner of the room) and brought up an old PC from below to use as my Skype machine. I installed Ubuntu 9.04 on the Shuttle and wow. I really really like it. I've been using it exclusively for the last couple days and I am really impressed so far. Mind you, all I am doing is surfing the web, chatting on IM, and doing a bit of work in the Terminal. I definitely would never use this as my main OS, I am far to addicted to OS X and it's wonderfully amazing applications. Linux cannot even compare to it, but it's definitely awesome for what I am using it for.

Today I bought my first ever flash drive, waaay proud of myself. I was in the store and I was like, ok, time to stop being such a loser, I need one of these, since everyone else has one haha. I really have NO idea what I am going to use it for, but at least I can say I have one! It's 8GB, so that's cool.

Did all of my Chapter 6 notes. I was proud of myself. Took me like four hours because not only did I have to take the notes, but I actually really had to understand the material. This chapter was on IP Routing, which is a bit better then the Chapter 3 (subnetting, VLSM) stuff. So now after I finish this entry, I'm going to work on the written lab, which is hopefully not to hard!!

I installed Windows 7 on that other PC, my new Skype box :) Everything went pretty smooth, it found my new 500GB drive, and the install didn't bother me as much as a Windows XP install, more like click install and it does it thing...I liked that. It has tons of pretty wallpapers too, so that made me happy. What didn't make me happy is driver issues, but I guess that's something one should be used to if you're using Windows...always driver issues. This time it's the audio drivers...and I don't know what to do...more like I don't have time to Google it...I am sure it's a simple fix...download some file and it'll work :)

Spent a bunch of time at the barn today, was wicked nice out. I couldn't bring myself to do the CCNA notes, and then do the labs...so I took a break and worked the horses. I'll be gone to Massachusetts all of next week at a horse show, so I've gotta get them ready for that.

Tonight, like I said, finishing (hopefully) the written lab bit of Chapter 6, then I think (if I get this audio drive issue resolved) I'll be playing some Xbox with [info]ltdan . I would like to get back into studying Japanese more routinely since I'll be taking the class in a couple weeks (of which I am VERY excited to do). I love it.

Alright, enough of my spamming, and blabberin'! Have a nice night! <3

So busy...
Haha, my life just doesn't give me a break. If it's not one thing isn't another, and while it's not necessarily a bad thing, I do wish I had a bit more time to just watch a movie or something. Although I guess that's kind of retarded to say because lately I've been playing Xbox with [info]ltdan until I go to bed hahaha. I would like this week to be a bit more laid back so I'm trying to do anything I can to make it happen.

This weekend, I was down in Massachusetts for airsoft, was a lot of fun, our team won 2 rounds and lost one. So I think we did really well. I had an awesome time. On Sunday I went to Boston, did some shopping, met up with some friends for breakfast and then came back home. Last night, I played some Call of Duty 4 and Grand Theft Auto 4 with Chris, we had an awesome time as usual.

Today, I woke up a bit later then normal, got my morning barn chores done, chatted with a couple friends, and then I went for a good run and did some grocery shopping in town. I am hoping to have my real Xbox back soon, I would think this week, hopefully.

Tonight, nothing, I guess I should work on CCNA stuff, but I am not in the mood, I just want to relax for the rest of the day. I'm tired. Maybe I'll just watch some TV or something, X____x

New Web Project!
Been super busy as usual. Haha, what's new...I've started working on a new web project which will pretty much be built form the ground up. This requires me learning some PHP and MySQL, actually probably a fair amount since it'll be dealing with pulling and inserting lots of data. But I am hoping it shouldn't be too complicated. I have a feeling when we're done a bunch of you might actually like using this new website. I can't get into too much right now, but as we get something more solid working, I'll definitely toss out some beta invites. So that's pretty much what I've been upto for that past 3 days. It's funny because I came up with the idea in a dream when Iw as riding the bus home from work. It's kind of crazy the thing sI can dream up LOL. So once I got home, I told [info]ltdan immediately and we started working on it. Right now, most of the site page mockups are done, and I'm starting to work on psuedo code for them.

Yesterday I got my Dell Mini which made me very excited. I have been waiting like 3 weeks or so for it. It's really cute. I am definitely not liking the keyboard as much as my HP Mini though. THe HP is far better, but the Dell works with OS X a lot better (audio works for one). [info]ltdan and I started working on getting OS X installed on them last night around 10pm or so. We were going to start earlier but Brian stopped by and I couldn't turn him away haha. So I hung with Brian for a couple hours, then he had to head out and so then I contacted the Lt.

Mine pretty much finished up with no issues. I did have WiFi on first, second or even third boot but after installing the DellEFI tools it all worked fine including audio which made me extremely happy. So while I was getting my Mini setup in OS X I started helping him, burning CDs/DVDs getting the tools and such. We ended up staying up until about 4am working on it, cause he didn't have an external DVD drive, so we had to go the route of the bootable USB drive which pretty much didn't work for many various reasons. So when I got into bed, I pretty much fell asleep instantly.

I also talked to [info]raf  last night. I guess it went well, I can't really tell anymore. Some days are good, some days are eeh. But yeah, I love him lots and I suppose that's all that really matters. Not sure if I want to or can say much more about it in this public entry haha

Woke up this morning around 10am. Took a shower and started working some more on the web project. Finished the mockups this morning and started my psuedo code. [info]ltdan and I are now working on getting OS X on his Mini again now. I'm just trying to help as much as I can, I think we might actually get it today. I definitely understand how frustrating it can be to not get something work, that should be really easy to do. Even last night I was getting frustrated since my WiFi and audio weren't working the way I thought they would.

Not much else is going on today, I might go for a run or something, cause it's really nice (although chilly) out. I'm converting some TV episodes and movies right now too, so I'll probably watch those this afternoon and evening. Just relaxing and chillen' out today. I might get some CCNA work done, but that will definitely be later tonight, I do not have the brain energy to work on something like that (especially with the chapter we're on right now, VLSMs & Subnetting) right now :P

Have a lovely weekend everyone xoxox

Xbox-ing!
Yesterday was pretty fun. I watched Role Model which was hilarious, then I chatted with a few online friends. Then I started reading a new book by Robin Cook (whom I do enjoy). It's called Crisis. I made it about halfway through the prologue before falling asleep. I've got to stop reading while in bed, worst ever. Haha But it's definitely going to be a good book I think.

Woke up around 7pm and chatted with friends, before I knew it, it was 9pm and I got on LIVE with [info]raf , [info]ltdan  and Jenny. We played Aegis Wing and FINALLY beat it on Insane. I am so proud of us. I love these people <3 hehe

[info]realhorrorshow I think you sent me a message on Skype. Sorry I didn't respond haha I was in the middle of gaming :\ Sounds like things getting better for you though, so YAY! :)

After we beat Aegis Wing, we played some Dead Tank or Death Tank, I can't remember. Fun little arcade game. The only thing I won, was the most money cause I didn't spend it on anything. I did win a couple rounds, but as usual the boys owned all. After that, [info]ltdan and I got the Resident Evil 5 demo. It took us a couple minutes to figure out how to set it a private game LOL. Pretty sad for 2 people as smart as us lol. So we finally figured it out, but we only played the Shanty Town level a few times before calling it a night. Either he got chain sawed or I got chain sawed. So this morning I looked up how to beat the stupid boss. So hopefully we give it another go soon. I'm very excited for the final game :D

I slept until like 10:30 this morning, chatted with friends. Then I spent pretty much the entire afternoon outside with the horses and the dog. She loves the snow!! Now, I'm just chatting with [info]raf and I think I might continue on in Chapter 1 of this CCNA book. It's great stuff! :)

Oh I really want to get the MSI Wind netbook. I might order one later this week...either that or the Dell Mini 9.

Spore Spore Spore!!
I managed to get my hands on a copy of Spore final. It's absolutely amazing! I've only made it to the stage where you get our the primordial goop, but it's a lot of fun. I almost wish that level was longer then it was. I am now on dry land, and most of my missions are to eradicate other species and eat them (yes, I choose to be a carnivore). I also have the Galactic Edition on pre-order (so that doesn't make a full 100% pirate, right?), and I think the one thing I am looking forward to in that is the art book. I mean, these creatures that can be created are outstanding. Not only is it the creatures that look beautiful, odd and wonderful, but the landscapes, the world designs are stunning.

Besides playing Spore, I've been working with the horses as usual, I finally got all of my tack cleaned and the saddles are all shiny. I've been using the new Google web browser, called Chrome. It's rather interesting. I do enjoy how it runs very smoothly (being only in beta too), it looks really nice, it's very simple, minimalistic, doesn't feel bloated and works with 98% of the websites I've been using. I did notice in Scribbld, when I am posting an entry, the text is very small (sort of the like the same bug that was reported with IE a while back). As for the small font, I just went in and changed some font settings and now it looks fine. The only website that hasn't worked for me is Office Live and I believe Hotmail does not work either, not a big deal though as I use both of those sites very little. I'm also reading the little comic book they put together to announce the release of the browser...very cute. In any event, I first thought this was going to be a pretty lame project, who really needs another browser. I said that too of Safari when they released it for Windows (and I still feel the same way in respect to that browser on Windows), but after using and working with Chrome, I must say, that I am impressed with how it works, the ideas that are behind it and I will continue using this web browser as my main browser on Windows. That said...

I broke one of our Cisco switch today so we ordered a new one. It looks like LtDan was right, it was a PSU issue, I don't really feel like pulling it apart to make sure...although after smelling it, yeah, I am pretty sure it's PSU related...we just another another 2924 24 port 100Mbit switch, fine for us, and easy on the wallet too. I think I found a GUI application -- Cisco Network Assistant that can help me configure it too, although I do like doing it though the CLI.

I've been using this Replay Media Catcher application to download the Olympics from NBCOlympics.com. I plan on getting all the Equestrian stuff and then converting it so I can watch it on my iPod. Obviously I can share with anyone...if you're into the horse stuff that is. I am very happy that I figured out an application that could do this for me. I use that Replay Media Catcher to grab the video and then VisualHub to convert the video into something my iPod likes.

Well, I guess I shall get going now, [info]raf is home and I'm going to chat with him and get some dinner going...
