Home in Louisiana once agan
After their trip to the prison, Jason was happy that he and Sammy were pulling up to Gran's place to spend some time. He loved his old home, but damn if he didn't love it more because Sammy was with him. Gran met them out on the back porch and smiled, looking spry for a woman who'd had a heart a attack just a year ago.

"Hi, Gran! I brought your favorite secret agent to see you again." Jason grins, going to get their bags.

"I see that, Jason. Be a dear and handle the luggage while I work on getting this poor girl fed. Sammy, you look like skin and bones." Gran frets.

Jason tries not to laugh, giving Sammy an "I-told-you-so" look.

	"I'm glad you've got a plan, because mine didn't turn out the way I wanted. I was just gonna take out a pretty girl and maybe get lucky." Jason chuckles a moment, then goes quiet. "I'm sorry you're related to someone like Mikel. I know Jake ain't a model person, but I know he gives a damn about me. I'll do whatever you need to help you take Mikel down." he says. "Don't worry, babe. Soon as we get you feeling better, I guarantee you'll get lucky," she said with a small laugh, willing him to be amused with her. Anything to start putting the stress of the last day behind them.

"Your brother is a wild card that can't be played," she said after a moment. "Neither of them told me what the deal is they have going, but I'm sure we're going to be crossing paths soon. From what little Mikel did say, he's planning a takeover of SHIELD. I can't allow that to happen no matter who gets in the way. It's not just a family feud at that point, it's putting the world in danger."

Jason knows that she means what she says and that she will do absolutely anything she has to to keep her brother from succeeding. That meant he needed to be ready to whatever he had to as well.

But could he stop his own brother if it came to it? That was a bridge he might have to cross very soon.

He walked along silently, aided by Sammy as they got to the chopper.

"So, do we call a team in for this or is it just you and me?" he asks.

Sammy busied herself getting him into the chopper and them up in the air. She'd had her pilot's license since she was seventeen.

"No team yet," she finally said once they were underway. The nearest major hospital was contacted, then SHIELD. She needed the interference so she wouldn't have to explain Jason's injuries. By the time they landed, Jason's medical file would be available for the attending physician and a private room arranged.

"Not until we know what we're dealing with and how deep it goes. Mikel had ex-SHIELD agents. If he has former agents, does he have active ones? How far up in the command chain do they go? Who's waiting to take us down if we don't follow the script? There are too many ifs at the moment."

"A list of agents likely to turn rogue for Mikel Fury?" The idea made her smile a little. If only there was, she'd have it in her hands immediately. "The last I was told, Mikel was still in the Vault. That raises a few more questions. How long has he been out? Who knows he escaped? What about the other prisoners? He's dangerous because he can get people to follow him. Now he's teamed up with your brother. Here's another puzzle for you - did Mikel make a deal with your brother before or after you were considering SHIELD's offer? Are we following Mikel's plan by getting involved and not realizing it?"

Jason tried to think about that between the stabbing pains in his head.

"Jake wouldn't have let me go to all this trouble if he had somethin' lined up. I gotta believe it happened while he was on the inside. More than one person tried to get at him when he showed up." Jason says.

"I just don't know what Mikel could've offered that would get Jake to join up. He already knew we were gonna look after everything for him." Jason says.

	Jason nods at Sammy. She knew how to do this sort of thing and he was still learning, so he took his cues from her. He just hoped he wouldn't be useless. "Okay, so no alarms yet. 	"I want you to hack into the colonel's personal computer," she said, her voice dropping low, almost too low with the noise of the copter surrounding them. "His personal files are the place to start. "I want everything on his private server. No more secrets. Mikel's out there and your brother is his wild card. I won't let secrets take SHIELD down because the colonel couldn't do what he had to about his son."

She kept her eyes on the readouts. It wouldn't be long before they would be joined by SHIELD or a local agency wanting their identities and where they thought they were going.

"This is going to end badly for someone," she felt compelled to say. No more secrets. "We might both end up in a prison cell, if we aren't valuable enough."

"I don't think your dad would put you in a prison cell." Jason says, offering her a reassuring smile. He really didn't think the Colonel Fury would arrest his own daughter.

Now kick her out of SHIELD and make her do something else with her life? That he could see.

Sure enough, a pair of fighter jets appear on each side of them not long after Sammy speaks.

"There may be things on his private server you don't wanna know. Are you sure you want me to go that deep? Final chance to back out before I do my worst." he says.

"This is your final chance to back out before I get you into serious trouble," she countered. "I have a need to know that's more important than any hero worship. This day was coming, I just didn't expect it so soon."

She glanced from their escort to his face to make sure he understood. "If you're having any second thoughts, now's the time to back away from me, Jason. Your brother's right about one thing - I'm dangerous to you. Just not in the way he believes I am."

Sammy didn't know what she had expected him to say, but the relief at his words caused her shoulders to momentarily sag. What she was about to set in motion was espionage, plain and simple. She was going to take those skills she'd learned at her father's knee and use them against the director of SHIELD.

"That's a lot of everyone, babe." Another glance at his pale face in the darkened interior. They'd better get to the hospital soon because she wasn't about to lose him now. "I love you, too, and I promise you'll get lucky when you're better."

	"Gettin' lucky is the whole reason I'm still alive." Jason joked. Several hours later, the pair were back aboard the Helicarrier. Colonel Fury had already scheduled Sammy to meet with him regarding the matter while Jason was being checked over. (Reply to this)(Parent)
