Gael rolled his eyes too. "I'm not popular, and that's rich coming from you, Leon. I just don't want you to broadcast my single-ness to the whole school."
He glanced over at his twin. "Those mints? Can I have one?"
"It's aspirin. Don't you have your own?" He grumped a little more as he tried to push Gael out from in front of his computer. "Everyone already knows you're single. The Underclassmen know you're single. It isn't as if we attend some giant muggle school, Gael. People are bound to notice some shite like that."
He didn't really try to hard, though, before flopping on his bad. "Pretty sure people can see for themselves, 'oi, mate, ever notice Gael's never got a bird around?' 'Oh yeah, been noticing that myself!'"
"Oh yeah? Then what's all the fuss about them knowing your available then, eh? Not like your fuckin' Bruce or George. You've got a shot with a bird..."
But then he paused, before pushing himself up and looking at Gael with all the seriousness he could muster while high. "Unless your a poofter."
"If they're interested, they'll know. I don't see why I've got to advertise anything. And gee, thanks for giving me so much credit in comparisons."
He rolled his eyes but his glare subsided when Leon stared at him seriously. There was something a little off about the look, as though Leon might not be feeling well or something, but it was a sober moment and Gael could respect that. "Just because I'm not currently dating a girl, doesn't make me gay. And even if I was, it'd be my choice, just like it's already my choice to maybe not date someone."
He fell back on the bed, staring up at the ceiling with a frown on his face. This argument was killing his little buzz and the second pill was a long way off from kicking in. Damn.
"Yeah, you'd run right the fuck home and tell mum and dad, wouldn't you? And then everyone would be all 'oh this is fuckin' fantastic. My star son's a faggot.'" Leon snorted, rubbing his eyes. "Shite."
He glared at his brother again, though he stayed where he was. At the moment he wanted nothing more than to punch his brother in the face, but he wasn't about to jump him with no warning. "The fuck is your problem, Leon? Obviously I'm missing the bigger picture here, because you're not making any bloody sense."
"I said forget it." Leon snapped, pushing himself up on the bed again. "What part of that didn't you get?"
Of course the rest of this argument wasn't getting any better, at least not from what he was seeing. Gael had that look, and it was that annoying...'explain your problems to me' look, too. Fuck. "The big picture is you could lick a fat man's arse and people would still love you. There? Happy? Good...."
"No," Gael snapped back. "I'm not gonna 'forget it'. Why the fuck am I a fucking wanker?"
He kept his glare trained on Leon, determined to get to the bottom of... whatever this was. Leon had been keeping things bottled up for a while, he knew it. And it was really pissing him off. "No. I'm not happy. I want you to tell me shit. Where the hell is this coming from? Because I'm not sure how we got from my not having a date to my 'licking a fat man's arse'." He made a face as he finished the sentence.
"Because I'm just trying to get you to have a good time. Sorry, didn't know that was a fuckin' crime. So forget. Don't go to the dance. No one cares."
He sighed as he shifted on the bed, groaning a little as Gael kept talking. "It is a stupid argument, sorry. I'll shut it, now." Arguing was going to be the death of him.
"Thanks," he quipped a little sarcastically. "I'll go to the dance, I just didn't see the big deal..."
It was too late, Gael wasn't quitting now. Leon started it, but he was going to decide when it finished. "Yeah, it's stupid, but you're not shutting up now. Just fucking talk to me, alright? I'd like to think it's not that hard. I mean, I've always thought I was pretty easy to talk to." Maybe if he changed his tactics, his brother would be more willing to loosen up and be real with him.
"If I am going, you can go. Don't you like to dance?"
As for the rest, Leon wondered why he'd even bothered to open his mouth. Looking over at his twin, he stared for a long moment, before sitting up slowly and rubbing his head. "What do you want to talk about? There isn't anything to talk about."
He turned himself about on the bed a little more, pulling out his phone to check for text as he put off further conversation just a little more. Why did people have to be so difficult? "Did you ever get a parcel from mum? Not that I trust her cookies, but still..."
"Yeah, I do. Which is why you being nominated for King is so funny."
He just stared right back at Leon, unblinking. "Whatever it is that's been making you such a moody little prick for the last... I can't even tell how long now."
Gael rolled his eyes at the obvious attempt to put off his questions. "If you get a parcel from mum, I get a parcel from mum. I think yours show up faster somehow, though. She just can't wait to send her little loutre little presents." He said the last bit with a small grin.
"Yeah, well I'm not going to win. Who the fuck would vote for me?" Leon said with a snort.
Staring at the ceiling, though, he didn't answer Gael's question still. What did his brother even want him to say? 'I am a fucking miserable cunt'? He just didn't have an answer he was willing to give. To himself or Gael.
He rolled his eyes a little. Of course Leon wasn't going to answer. Sometimes he wondered why he bothered trying. Hopefully some day his brother would willingly tell him what was wrong...
With a shrug, Gael glanced around Leon's room. "Mum sent me new gloves for Quodpot. You?"
But he rolled to his side then, fishing out the parcel thqt his mum had sent. There wasn't much in it, really. A new journal, an enchanted pen or two, then two new prescription bottles. Those two were the ones he pulled out to stare at them before tossing the rest at Gael.
He caught the gifts and looked them over. Pretty much standard care package from their mum. He didn't really understood why she always sent them pens and journals all the time...
"It's Mum. Of course it's sappy. Plus, you're her baby."
"I learn from the best," was Gael's reply, still grinning. At least he got his brother to smile. His own didn't last long though, and he sighed. "You'd sure you want me there?"
He rolled his eyes. "You know what I meant. If you want my company, I'll go. Besides," he glanced at his brother, "don't you have to get laid normally before you start randomly shagging on the front lawn? I mean, so far as I can tell the girl has to be comfortable with the guy before she does the kinky stuff."
