Sometimes she needed to remind herself that she wasn't in the Lalaurie dormitory anymore. Quinn's move to the Transitional dormitory had been smooth but it didn't feel a whole lot different than her room the previous year. At least, it wasn't as much of a change as it was when we went from a junior to a senior and got her own room for the first time.

The biggest reminder was that there were other classmates that lived in the same building. She had already had a few of those reminders since she brought her book down into the common room and took up one end of a couch.

She heard some commotion coming from the first floor rooms and she looked up towards the ceiling with a frown. Quinn spotted Rowan looking around when she went to go back to her book and when she caught the girl's eye, she raised an eyebrow in curiousity.

Spotting Quinn reading on the couch, Rowan gave her a half smile and made her way over, trying not to feel like a rabbit among the foxes. There was nothing wrong with the transitional students. Nothing wrong with upperclassmen. But the sense that she didn't belong there was floating around her head.

Still, her steps were fairly sure as she made her way over to the brunette Lalaurie. Running a hand over the strap of her bag, she approached Quinn with a small smile.

"Hey, um, I had a quick question."

It was apparent that Rowan had come there to see her when she approached. Quinn looked down to locate her bookmark and stuck it between the pages before closing the book and watching the younger girl stop near her chair.

Quinn only had to wonder briefly about what Rowan wanted and she smiled a little bit when she mentioned the question. At least the girl wasn't beating around the bush and playing with pleasantries before getting to why she was there.

"Shoot."

Since Rowan was feeling a little off balance recently, sitting around shooting the breeze was not something that she had in mind. Not that she disliked Quinn, far from it. The girl was a little... spiky, but she was quick-witted and intelligent. Not in the book way always, but with everything else.

"I think I left a book at your house. It was regular note book sized, brown fake leather with a brown kind of tie around it. Uneven, off-white pages. Have you seen it around by any chance?"

She didn't want to let on that it was a private diary, or anything other than just a cool notebook that she had accidentally left behind. Not that she didn't trust Quinn, but... well, she didn't really trust anyone with her diaries. They were too personal, obviously, and too much went into them for her to feel safe with them just laying around. If she hadn't been so distracted by things with her mother, Rowan figured she would never have left it anywhere.

Quinn blinked for a moment as she thought about that, trying to picture the book Rowan described. She vaguely remembered seeing something, but the best option was to get up and look.

"One of the house elves gave me something they said you left behind, so I'm guessing that's it." Quinn just didn't bother taking a good look at it before she shoved it into her trunk.

She stretched out her legs for a moment before she stood and turned to the stairs with little more than a "Follow me," and took Rowan up to her room. There was very little point to returning downstairs to read, so she may as well drag the senior up to collect it and stay behind in her room.

House elves were something really strange to Rowan. She had never known anyone with them really before, so it was odd to think that there were little creatures running around, doing all the cleaning and mending and cooking sometimes. It was something that she tried not to dwell on too hard, because she always ended up feeling very sorry for them and their position in the grander scheme of things.

"Oh, that's... thank you." Rowan smiled at the older girl and when she moved to head upstairs, Rowan followed her. It gave her her first real look at the Transitional dormitory. Spacious and roomy, with a kind of comfortable sense to it. No house colors or anything, since students of all houses lived here, and it was more... mature, she supposed, than the other dorms on campus.

"Sorry to have left it. I've been more than a little scatterbrained recently."
