"Why does everything have to be a fight with you?" Leon rolled his eyes before he sighed and leaned against the table, lowering his voice in an effort to sound more calm. "What I mean, regardless of what you mean to put out there for everyone, or how great of friends you and your ex's are, Michi, is that you still have a history. You can't change it, you've always going to be aware of it."
He stood up again, turning to leave the cafe then, without his food and coffee. And without the earrings he'd just bought addy.
"Are we talking about the elephant in the room?" she asked, Isamu was finally starting to settled down since the arguing began.
Michiko was going to let him storm off but she looked and saw the box still on the table. After sighing loudly and rolling her eyes she grabbed the earrings off the table and followed after Leon. For fuck's sake... "Leon wait," she followed him, her heels clicking against the pavement as she power walked to get to him. "Leon! The earrings," when she did reach him she put her hand on his shoulder to turn him around.
He almost snapped at her when she touched him, but managed to rein it in as nothing more than a mild glare. He even managed to not snatch the box out of her hand before glancing down the street.
"Merci," managed to grit out, taking a deeper breathe as he looked back at her. And for a moment he thought of leaving it there, but then that was too much wisdom for his teenage brain to handle.
"If you hate me so much," he started, "do you bother?"
"You know Leon, I don't hate you. You just... you don't seem to care about the mean things you say or the way that sometimes something that supposed to be nice sounds mean," she shrugged again.
"I'm not trying to argue with you over the fact that I do have a history. We all have a past and we've all made mistakes. My mistakes have made me who I am and I wouldn't change a damn thing, but that doesn't mean I'm still the same wild party girl I was before. The least you could do is wait to see what happens."
"I get it. You're worried about your brother getting hurt. Well I'm worried about Addy getting hurt. Maybe we should just have a little faith in other each other."
He stared at her for a long moment, frowning deeply as he scrubbed the back of his head for a moment. He was an asshole, hell, even he knew that, was she really willing to have faith in him? He was skeptical when he looked at her.
"You have faith in me, I'll have faith in you. We'll make it simple like that, yeah?"
"We can try," she said adjusting the baby and offering him her hand to shake. "We'll only piss each other off if we keep questioning each others motives right?"{
"...Yeah. Guess we should." He was still grumpy, though. Even as he put the little box away and stared off for a moment or two. He took her hand, though, shaking it lightly as he sighed.
"Okay," she nodded firmly. "Well... I'll see you around," she waved to him and turned to walk back to the cafe, hopefully her coffee would still be there and her table still open.
