Tell a Friend
Characters: Abernathy and Leon
Setting: Late Sunday night, her dorm room
Content: Probably SFW, a bit of language
Summary: After Leon's latest tirade on the internet Abernathy invites him to chat with her in her room.

Abernathy wasn't sure how she'd react to Leon's next tirade now knowing the truth. It was hard to know how to deal with him, hard to be his friend when he said such inflammatory things as a form of self-defense. But Abernathy was determined to be his friend.

She'd seen glimpses of the real Leon. She figured if she helped him through all this rocky shit that maybe she'd see the real Leon again.

She left her room door open and sat on the edge of her bed idly working on homework. She wasn't going to accomplish much until after Leon left. If she was being honest with herself she wasn't going to accomplish anything then either.

Leon was feeling good by the time he made it into Abernathy's dorm, dressed like a bum and all. He found the open door on her floor and quietly stared for a bit, before sighing and moving into the room with his hands stuffed in his pockets.

"Sorry it took so long," he muttered apologetically as he closed the door. Glancing about her room, he smirked a little. It was...not as girly as he'd have expected a girls room to be. Adelaide hadn't really made it a habit to invite him back to her dorm, they usually ended up in his. "Your dorm is a little nosier than mine, you know."

"Not a problem," she said shoving her books from her bed to her backpack at the foot of it. "Rambunctious Rienzi." She laughed lightly. She offered him a seat on her bed, or in her desk chair; whichever he was more comfortable with.

"You okay?" she asked tentatively.

"...I'm high." He said honestly as he sat down on the bed, staring at the desk in front of him for a moment, before turning to look at Abernathy. He'd never done cocaine before, and frankly he could see why people liked it.

He felt...good. It was that weird sort of high that made him feel as if everything was clear, and understandable. He could fix the world right now, he thought, as he stared at the desk.

"Gael said he was sorry, which is okay, I guess. I don't know. Do you know, though, that....I have to break up with Adelaide...and not break her heart. She needs someone better than me. Like...straight, and not me. I don't even know why she loves me. I'm dick. I'm huge dick."

She frowned at him for a moment, but brushed it away. They had agreed once that they shouldn't hang out while he was high, but he seemed okay for the moment. "I would be too," she said with a little shrug. Not that it was a good way to deal with her problems, but she had been turning to alcohol more and more.

"That's good," she said quietly about Gael. "It might take awhile for things to... Work out. But they will."

And then he dropped another bomb. She sighed and shifted on her bed to sit cross legged. Hands in her lap she felt it harder and harder to keep that awful grin from her face. "You know I approve fully of this action. You're not a dick. If anything you deserve better than her."

"Adelaide is...is a great girl. She just wants someone to love her, you know? She doesn't get it at home, and she's...she's beautiful. love, just...don't want to sleep with her. Can I do that? Can I stay with her and not sleep with her? Would people think that was weird?"

Cocaine, at least, did one helpful thing- it made him talkative. It wasn't that he wouldn't have conversation with people, really, but he usually stayed well clear of emotional topics.

"Why are you just hanging out here? Where are your friends?"

She didn't expect that. She sat quietly for a moment absorbing all Leon had to say about Adelaide. He knew how the girls felt about each other. In a few short years they'd moved from hating each other to becoming arch enemies. She didn't want to feel sympathy for Adelaide.

Clarification helped to avoid getting emotionally involved in this discussion. "Have you slept with her?"

Abernathy shrugged. It was late-ish on the Sunday night before classes started up again for the term. "Probably doing last minute homework."

"....Yeah." He figured, though, that AB didn't want to hear all the details of what he and Adelaide had done. Especially as anti-climatic as he felt the event had been. "Yeah, I did. She's going to hate me for it."

Scrubbing his head he glanced around the room with a frown. Homework. He probably had some of that around to do, but he didn't much care at this point. "You'd think they'd have finished before last term ended. That's the thing to do. Though, I haven't finished any of mine. Maybe I should do it, I don't know where it is though. Fuck knows."

"Yeah," she said slowly. She couldn't speak for Adelaide, but she assumed most girls would want the sex to continue. "You're not going to be able to withdraw sex once you've had it. You're going to have to break it up."

She shrugged about the homework. "I don't know why the bastards assign us homework every break like we're going to do it."

"I dunno man. This is a tough situation."

"She's not going to be happy. Not going to be happy at all." He shook his head for emphasis, though he didn't figure it was needed. "I should find a way to make her break up with me. Then...she wouldn't be hurt, right? And I wouldn't have to tell her. She could just realize the truth of us, and peace out on her own."

As for the homework, he shrugged, "what do you have to do? I could help." He was smart, after all. He had made it to his senior year. Making it out, however? That was turning into a different story.

"Well. I dunno. She might be hurt, but it would definitely hurt less if she was doing the dumping." Abby didn't have much experience in it, but it seemed logical. Her relationship with Gray was so juvenile and so many years ago that it was more like a joke than anything else. And her relationship with Keegan ended well enough. "But you'd have to be mean to her, or make her think you liked someone else. Maybe..." She trailed away unsure what else to say or suggest.

"Oh. It's no big deal," she said leaning over to zip her backpack closed. It wasn't one of her best subjects, but she could slog through it in the morning. There were more important matters at hand. Like making Adelaide miserable.

He wasn't sure that Adelaide would take to dumping him well either. He was convinced that on some level, Addy felt like they would be together. Forever. Which was an altogether frightening thought, particularly when high. "I don't want to make her cry, fuck....can't I...use some spell or something? Is that morally wrong?"

If he could slip her this potion, or idea that maybe someone else was better for her...then their would be less pain in the break up, right?

"You really want to mess around with magic?" Where love was concerned magic use became a tricky thing; that was something Abernathy knew without any experience. She frowned, tossing out the last possible option. "You could try honesty."
mightbeclever From: [info]mightbeclever Date: January 11th, 2011 06:57 am (UTC) (Link)
"I have a book," he intoned as if it were the most important revelation of the night. He was almost sold on it, before she mentioned honesty. Then he deflated a little, slouching as he frowned at his shoes. "I guess I could. But that sounds...hard."
atotheb From: [info]atotheb Date: January 11th, 2011 09:28 pm (UTC) (Link)
Abernathy didn't spare him the well, duh look. "It's your call, Leon. You're life." Her face softened and she offered him a friendly smile. "It sounds completely, ridiculously stupid, but I'm here for you. Whatever you need."
mightbeclever From: [info]mightbeclever Date: January 14th, 2011 11:12 pm (UTC) (Link)
"Yeah....thanks." Though he flopped back on her bed to think about it silently. "I have to tell her....Somehow."
atotheb From: [info]atotheb Date: January 15th, 2011 11:51 pm (UTC) (Link)
She felt useless and frustrated. She was out of advice or harebrained schemes to get Leon through this. "Worst case scenario you could just hang out with me. I'm sure she'd love that." It was a weak joke, but maybe enough to cheer him up.
