Ella gasped and started nodding excessively. "Would you?! Like, right now? I don't mind falling really, that's so cool! You're the best ever!" By now she was practically bouncing on the spot.
"Yeah dude! It's totally easy!" Conor threw his hands in the air in excitement. "After that you can learn all those flying flips and shit! It's awesome! Anyway," He held up his pointer finger.
"Okay, cool." Conor clapped his hands together once. "It's totally the same, except instead of going back on your hands you like... tuck and roll? Sorta." He laughed.
"I don't really know how to explain it. Unless you wanted to back-flip off a tree or a wall or something. That's totally easier. But I don't know how you would find a tree during practice. So maybe that's out."
Ella was slightly confused but wasn't about to be beat. She chewed on her lip as she tried all sorts of positions to start in. How could tucking and rolling be such a challenge?
"I don't think I can run into a tree" she giggled. "Show me how you do one! I'll copy you."
Ella studied his technique intently, nodding and making an impressed noise as he landed.
"It looks tricky" she said, but felt better about his offer. "Yes! Spot me. I wont kick you in the face. Well, maybe I will but I apologise in advance, besides it would kind of be your fault." She grinned and got into a sort of crouching position.
"Just promise me you'll tell my brothers what happened. That way they can put 'kicked in the face by a cheerleader' on my headstone." He said solemnly.
"Nah, if you crouch that far you won't make the landing." Conor shook his head, offering her an arm to pull her back up. "You kinda have to jump up, like you're reaching for the sky, and then kick back. Like this--"
Conor jumped up in the air, his hands reaching up as if he were doing basketball lay-ups, and kicked one foot forward. It looked a little like a horrible move from a broadway show. "See?"
"Dude! Totally like Buffy!" Conor exclaimed, "She was a cheerleader or something, right? You could learn to slay vampires!" He made a face at her as if he were trying to eye her suspiciously. "...But I'm totally not one so please don't kill me."
"Right, like that! See the difference? If you crouch down too low, you'll totally land on your face. Which... probably won't happen when I'm spotting you."
