Characters: Gael Shaw and OPEN.
Setting: Library after class.
Content: SFW.
Summary: Gael is pouring over old Quodpot plays in the library, coming up with strategies, and even looking at some other sports plays like football (both kinds)


Inspired by last Friday's excellent win against Lalaurie, Gael decided to do some research and come up with some solid plays of his own. He usually managed to come up with some pretty okay ones on the spot, but he really wanted the last part of his last year to go out with a bang. It was a way of leaving behind a legacy, and something to share with with future Sonnier captains.

So he'd gotten out an old, unused notebook and headed over to the library after his classes got out for the day, bringing with him his headphones and iPod. He settled himself in for an entire afternoon and evening of studying old plays, with his iPod's playlist set to his sport/activity/research tracks. He set up his notebook and bag at a table off to the side and back, went around to collect any and all books he thought would be helpful and then brought them back to his table, building up a nice little pile before settling down, opening up the first one and reading along for any possibly useful information, taking notes in his notebook as he went.

He was so absorbed in his task, he hardly noticed the other students milling around.

Michi knew she had to go to the library at least once a week, otherwise she would never get her homework done. Come Thursday, she still had Latin to translate and some history of magic to read. With an ever amusing addiction to the internet she decided it was time to leave her room. It was with a heavy sigh that she lifted her books from her desk and headed to the library.

She was determined, so much so that she didn't even look where she was heading and plopped her books down right across the table from Gael. "Oh!" she said surprised, she squinted her eyes a bit, yeah... it was Gael. She was getting better at telling them apart. "Hey Gael," she flipped open her Latin text book, a little too embarrassed to move. She scribbled down her first sentence to translate. Don't be awkward, she told herself. "Um... what are you up to?"

Gael had been so involved in his work, staring fixedly at the book he was currently reading while he furiously scribbled down notes without looking away from the page, he didn't even see Michi walk up to his table. So when she dropped her books on the table in front of him, he jumped and looked up, blinking.

"Hey!" He shouted, then winced, remembering where they were. He reached up and pulled out his ear buds with a grin. "Yep, you got it right." There was a chuckle in his voice as he said it, remembering the somewhat confusing run in with Casey. "Nothing really, just studying some plays. What about you? Trying to spy?" He raised an eyebrow at her, grinning.

Michi giggled, she couldn't help it with the way he had shouted and winced. "Me? Spying? I have the subtlety of a charging bull," she grinned. "Now that you mention it though," she teasingly eyed his notebook, a mischievous grin in place.

"Me? I'm just pretending to translate Latin," she admitted. "Lattimer has got it in for us this semester."

Gael grinned. "At least you're a sweet bull, and you don't smell." His grin widened when she peeked at his notebook, and he waved his hand over it. "Hey now, that's not fair. Can't try and distract me by being all cute and sweet." He glanced at the notebook now, too. "Though I dunno how much of it's legible, anyway..."

Putting his pencil in the book he had been reading, Gael moved to close it, looking at Michi questioningly. "You want some help? It's not my favorite class, but being bilingual makes it somewhat more bearable." He offered her a friendly smile.

She couldn't help the little flushing in her cheeks. "Good thing I'm not a Lalaurie, otherwise that play book would be in my bag by now," she pushed a stray hair behind her ear. "I like a fair game though," she said truthfully.

"Well look who's being cute and sweet now," she said smiling. "I would love some help, if you don't mind. I will definitely make it up to you," she offered.

He smiled again. "Yeah, I don't think you'd make a good Lalaurie." His smiled just grew more. "So do I. Of course, it's always nice to be prepared, too," he added, tapping the books.

Gael pulled a mock affronted look. "What? I'm always cute and sweet." He laughed then and made a motion for her to move closer, scooting his own chair over a bit too. "I don't mind at all. Come on, let's see what you've got."

"Me either," she scrunched up her nose at the idea of it. "It is, we should run some sportsman like drills together some time," she suggested.

Scooting her chair closer she smirked. "Of course you're always cute and sweet," she said brightly giving his nose a little tweak. "And smart too," she added. She showed him her text. "We're doing lines from Vergil," she pouted a little.

He laughed at the face she made, and nodded. "Yeah, definitely. Good sportsmanship's what keeps us going."

When she tweaked his nose, he reached over and tapped her on her own. "Eh, I'm just lucky I guess." He looked down at the words and sighed in remembrance. "Ah, yes. Facilis descensus Averni. I remember Vergil." He gave her a little rueful smile. "He's not so bad, depending on which work you're reading."

"It really does, you guys played a killer game last week," she complimented him. Michi went to every single quodpot game ever since she was in the lower academy. It had always been her favorite part about school.

"Luck has nothing to do with how delightful your company is," she beamed. "Stuff from book one of the Aeneid, it just... I parse it all out and it's just... gobbledygook," she shrugged.

"Thank you," he said warmly. "I was really proud of the team for that game, they all played pretty much perfectly." Gael took the words to heart. He knew Michi could appreciate a good game when she saw one.

"Aw shucks, Meech, you sure know how to make a guy blush," he quipped with a wink. "Yeah, the Aeneid wasn't my favorite, though I know Lattimar loves it. But yeah, the language can be a bit of a bitch with all of the affixes and especially in that one..."

"They really did," she agreed. "I have to admit a sick satisfaction every time Lalaurie loses," she smirked. "Even better that it was a total beating. You guys have some finesse."

She giggled at his wink and then looked back to her notebook. "It's like, in Latin, this is some beautiful line of poetry but once I get my hands on it, it turns into some messy nonsensical prose," she shook her head.

Gael grinned a little wickedly at her admission. "I feel the same way, to be honest. And it feels great to have been the ones to lay down the hurt on them. We do what we can."

He gave her a reassuring smile and a little nudge with his elbow. "Hey, trust me. It's not you or anything, it's the language and the people who made it up." He leaned a little closer and pointed out something in her notebook and book. "See here? Because it has this ending in this context, it practically changes how the whole sentence should go."

"And a grand hurt it was," Michi giggled. "Don't get me wrong, I love those players," she smiled. "Adelaide my love," she batted her eye lashes prettily. "And of course Gregoire," she said with a mock accent. "They're great, but I still love when that team loses."

"Oooo, so the subject ending matches the verb ending," it was like a light bulb went off. "And it has the tense in it too!" She looked up at Gael and smiled. "Thanks Gael."

Gael smiled back at her. "Hey, I think they're great too, I mean, Grey's a friend of mine. They're a pretty decent team. But..." His smile widened into a grin again. "Sometimes it's nice to be able to rub it in their faces when they do lose."

He smiled encouragingly at her. "Exactly. You're very welcome. I'm glad I could help."

"It is, isn't it?" she grinned a bit devilishly, leaning in a bit closer.

She scribbled out a translation with his advice. "Oh," she said with a grin. "That makes way more sense now," she laughed a bit. "Does French conjugate like Latin?" she asked out of curiosity. "Is English all alone in it's weirdness of conjugation?"

His own grin turned to match hers. "I owe it to Grey for always gloating Lalaurie wins over me."

Gael laughed a bit at the question, not in any mean way though. It was a valid question, he just remembered his own thoughts and feelings on the subject when he was younger. "Not enough, unfortunately. French's conjugation is like a really watered down version of Latin's, but it was enough to make me a little over confident back in ninth." He grinned again. "English will always be the odd one out when it comes to weirdness, though."

"Oh he's wicked when they win isn't he? That boy will rub a win in your face for months," she grinned.

She laughed. "That's good though. Nothing better than a little confidence booster right?" She pulled a mock pout. "Aww, poor English. All weird and alone in it's own little corner," she couldn't help but giggle a little.

"Pretty much," he sighed, though there was a slight smile. "At least he can actually back up his boasts with some skill, though. Gotta give him that."

He grinned again. "Yeah, I guess it doesn't hurt, but it was a blow every time I messed up." He laughed. "I'd say it's doing okay though, aside from it's freakish grammar and whatnot."

Gael laughed. "I'm sure wherever he is, his ears are burning and his head is swelling." He smiled at her warmly. "It has been awhile, hasn't it? My life's been so boring without you in it," he teased lightly with a wink. "The most interesting thing that happened to me was that monster hunt. That was something. What about you? How's everything for you, other than Latin sucking?"

She gave a little laugh and grinned. "So true," she said. God he has such a cute smile, she blushed a little at the thought.

"Ooo! The monster hunt! Did you find anything good?" she asked excitedly. "Gael Shaw my life has been desolate without you," she play pouted. "We thought we found something on the monster hunt but it was just bats," she shrugged.

Gael couldn't help but smile wider at her laugh. It made him happy to see her that way. And that little blush just made her all that much more cute.

He grinned and tapped her nose playfully. "Well, we can't have that, can we? I say we fix this and soon!" And then his grin grew wider with excitement. "You wouldn't believe what we found! It was this bizarre... thing. It was a mix between what looked like a foot and a horse with wings."

"Doctors say that's a leading cause of heart failure and death," he said with an exaggerated solemn nod, fighting back a smile.

"Yep! All three of us chased it through the swamps and tried to stun it, but it kept dodging our spells, then it took off further into the woods and higher so we could hardly see it." He shook his head. "I wish we could've caught it..."

Michi batted her eyelashes at him. "I knew I had been feeling faint lately. If I had known it was heart failure I could have done something sooner," she cracked a grin then and gave a little snort of laughter.

"That's so cool! You didn't get hurt or anything?" she asked a little concerned. "That's amazing though, I'm so jealous you guys caught something. What do you think it was? Do you guys have any idea?" This animal thing was getting better by the minute. "It wasn't the thing that attacked Leon was it?"

"Fortunately for you exposure to Shaw can immediately improve your condition and restore you to perfect health again." Gael dropped the announcer persona he had donned for that and grinned back, giving her a wink.

He smiled at her concern. "Nah, I'm fine. Aside from Sim stabbing me in the back with his wand, I got out pretty much unscathed." He shook his head at her questions. "Langley didn't know what to make of it. It didn't look anything like the thing that got Leon. I have no idea what it was, just that it'd probably be better if it wasn't flying around freely."

Michi shook her head. "I'm going to have to give that boy a talking to. I don't know how many times you can tell someone it's not proper etiquette to stab someone else with a wand," she grinned.

She breathed in deep, trying to imagine what kind of creature it could be. "That's crazy! I have no idea what's going on around here anymore," she laughed. "I bet we could kicks it's ass though, right?" she grinned.

Gael shrugged a shoulder, waving a hand dismissively. "I think he was just upset because up till then nothing had happened. Besides, some dogs just can't be housebroken," he couldn't stop the grin that came along with that last comment.

"I don't think anyone knows what's going on, but I know that you're definitely right in our ability to kick that thing's ass," he grinned back.

Michi couldn't help her little grin. "You really know how to make a lady blush," she teased. Lady? Who are you trying to kid?

She laughed at Gael's comment about Sim. "You can dress him up, but you can't take him out," she joked. "Bless his heart," she added with a grin.

"We can be the campus police," she nodded. "Nothing would get past us."

Pierre Lescure va travailler sur le sujet en ayant en tête de protéger les auteurs, les artistes et les ingrats producteurs de films, plut?t que ceux qui volent les oeuvres. Ce n’est pas forcement la position de Aurélie Filipetti, qui a t?ché sur France Inter de relancer le piratage en annon?ant mezzo voce que plus personne ne serait poursuivi et que l'Hadopi ne punirait plus personne tant que le nouvelle loi ne serait pas votée.
