We're here for the book
Just after their first meeting before anything can happen between Nightwing and Batman a problem crops up. There are a bunch of Jokerz right there and a creature that looks like it is made from the nightmares of Gotham herself. It stands back but gibbers something at the apparent leader of this group of Jokerz.

"Yeah, yeah I hear ya. Hold yer horses," he slicks back his hair and offers both heroes a grin. "My pal here has asked us ta get something from ya Bats. We want the diary of Randolph Carter. Hand it over or we'll take it from ya. Either way we win."

Twenty Jokerz, a Cthulu spawn, and two of Gotham's finest. This looks good.

	Which really catches the rest of the Jokerz attention. Six turn to attack Nightwing. There is a chain used like a club sent towards his head. A few Jookerz get sent flying around. Others don't and smack at Batman with fists and feet, and even a glass bottle. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	The glass bottle made contact with Batman's arm, luckily not cutting the suit, but enough to bruise his arm fairly badly. He was getting desperate. Batman grabbed a smoke bomb off his utility belt, aiming it at the ground, firing a line to shoot up over the crowd of Jokerz in the confusion. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Where Batman was becoming desperate, Nightwing dealt with the six Jokerz with deadly calm. The chain that was being swing at his head was intercepted by a juggling club, and Nightwing let the chain coil around his club, giving him enough leverage to try and jerk it out of it's wielder's hand. Several things worked in the trio's favor. The Jokerz were shocked by the death of the Cthulu spawn. Batman's smoke bomb had several Jokerz coughing and hacking.

Nightwing was kicking ass pretty well.

Then Cait takes down the ones who were about to try and dog pile Batman to help their friends out. In short oprder it went from sixteen who could still fight down to eleven. Then one tripped while trying to hold onto the chain and knocked himself out by going face first into a wall.

So then there were ten.

	Nightwing didn't stop with the goon and the chain. Twirling around to face more of the Jokerz, he just kept powering through as many as he could, trying to keep an eye out on Batman. Cait seemed to have herself under control and didn't appear to be in any danger. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Seeing that the last three goons had plenty of attention on them, Nightwing turned his attention to the area in the direction of Arkham and checked the time. Fuck he thought, before looking towards Batman. "C'mon! I dunno how much more time we have, but we need to hurry. Arkham is about to implode!" he growled. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

There's bigger bad stuff happening than some clowns running loose and people in a mental ward. If we don't stop this, the whole world will fall and be destroyed. Do you understand!?" 	Nightwing wasn't one of the people with a diary, so he wasn't exactly sure what was going on. "Okay so if stopping Arkham from crumbling under the weight of it's own madness isn't the proper course of action, tell us what needs to be done!" replied Nightwing, his tempter starting to flare. Cait took a deep breath.

"Cthulu, a dark, powerful...god is sleeping. Now. But he won't be for too much longer. He is starting to wake up. As his influence in the world is growing people will be more apt to give into urges. Sexual, violent and everything else that ignores morals. Urges that they know are wrong. Their actions will feed Cthulu and he will get stronger and his influence will get stronger. Things will get more out of control. "

"The only way to stop this is to stop Cthulu. The ones who received the diaries will be able to sneak into the temple that has already risen in the Pacific and put Cthulu back to sleep."

"That thing that we fought was Cthulu's spawn. I have already fought one in Atlantis. They will seek out the ones who hold the diaries."

Nigthwing took that moment to step between Batman and Cait, his eyes turning between the two of them.

"Look, I've got a solution. You take Batman since he's got the diary. I'll take care of Arkham." he then said to Cait, before turning to look at Batman. "Go with her. And don't be a dick about it - I can't get into that temple if what she is saying is true, and you said you have a diary. I'll handle Arkham; you go save the world."

	Batman stared at him for a few moments, before nodding. "Fine." he said, "Good luck." And he meant it. He turned back to Cait. "I'll go with you," he said, "But first things first-who are you?" Nightwing nodded his head once to Batman, his lips in a line. He might have had his reservations about the wisdom of sending some green-horn Batman to save the world, but he trusted Bruce's judgment. He hadn't seen much of this new Bat, but at least he had the whole bravery thing going. Nightwing had to give it to him.

Now that Batman and Cait were making nice, he pulled out a zipline gun and fired it off towards a nearby roof. "Good luck, Batman." he called back, meaning ever word just as much as the new Bat had to him.

	"Batman." He didn't give his real name. He wouldn't do something like that for awhile, anyway. Damn. There's a feeling in the pit of his stomach like they should go to Arkham, though. He was hesitant, and it showed in his face. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)
